Staying Safe and Smart around Strip Clubs

No, I am not talking about putting the little ranger in MOPP IV. Two recent reviews of Miami area clubs specifically mentioned a ghetto night crowd or specific thug characters after dark. I can't remember any time that I felt particularly unsafe in or around a strip club. Part of that is that I'm pretty good at sensing the energy (not being metaphysical, you can pick up on vibes- if somebody is intending or expecting trouble), part is knowing how to spot trouble before it erupts (colors, tats, tags, suspicious bulges, plainclothes cops), and the rest is luck. I remember a specific time in New Orleans, where I closed Rick's Cabaret. It was all the more memorable because I had just…

How Strip Clubs Helped Me Build Confidence

I had absolutely zero social skills growing up. None whatsoever. I was always friendly, and if you talked to me I would respond back, but otherwise I wouldn't say a word. In my family, there wasn't any conversations of how school went or anything thought provoking. I never knew that chit chat was a thing since one around me did it, and I thought it was a waste of time when I saw people do it. In college, those zero social skills resulted in some pretty cringeworthy moments. One time, a girl asked to sleep over knowing that my none of my roommates were there. We watched a movie on the couch, and she tried to get close. It wasn't…
