What kind of advice are you hoping to get from this board? Cut down on clubbing for a bit to save up the money?
Are there buses, trains, or friends that could get you to and from school? If your credit is okay then you can probably get a loan or put it on a credit card, but then you may end up paying a good amount of interest.

Kind of scary that a single guy visiting a club a few times 16 years ago and doing nothing illegal can be used as political ammunition against him now. Does that mean nobody here can ever hold political office in the future?

From what I've read on here, you might also find extras in City of Industry, and some parts of Texas.
In some cases the clubs that are more tame have more attractive girls so you could just appreciate that I guess.

Whether dancers will come up and talk to you really varies by club. There are some clubs where every dancer will at some point come over and ask if you're interested, and there are clubs where dancers only sit by themselves or with people they know, and you have to approach them if you want anything. In general if you want to get the attention of a particular dancer, just sit by the stage during her stage routine, and tip a few dollars, which is easy enough to do even if you're shy.
You generally only have to tip if you're sitting by the stage. If you're after conversation instead of dances and you're sitting with a dancer and chatting with her, sometimes the waitress will come over and ask if you'd like to buy the dancer a drink. If you buy the drink, that's the way you'd be tipping for the time of the girl sitting with you. If you're just sitting by yourself somewhere in the middle or back of the club and watching the stage show, you generally do not tip.
Dancers will usually ask you if you want a dance, so you don't have to bring it up first. If you've never done one, you should ask what the prices are, where the dances are, etc, and any related general questions at that point. From reading the reviews on here, you can generally get a good sense of what you can touch and what you can't. If you ask the girl explicitly before the dance begins, that might be awkward because they might think you're law enforcement (especially if you're asking for a HJ or something illegal, unless you happen to be at a club where you know that's commonly done). Better just to get a dance, then see what her comfort level is during that dance, and if it doesn't meet what you're looking for, then end it after one dance instead of getting more.
Instead of tipping for regular dances, you could just spend the money to buy more dances. The exception to this would be if at some point she explicitly agrees to do more or allow more in exchange for some amount of tip.
If you cum from dancing, avoid getting any of it on the dancer.

I think a contributing factor is if you're a regular vs if you're a traveler. In many clubs the regulars will get the better experience because their expectations are scaled appropriately, they know which dancers are most suitable for them, and the dancers are comfortable with them and know they're not LE.

The impression I've gotten from reading news articles like that is that at least initially they have to run a very clean club so that the people that want to shut them down won't have as much to go on and the newspapers won't have anything controversial to write about. If they're running a very clean club, what makes them better than all the Deja Vus in the area?

You probably won't find bj, fs, and ITC in Portland (the large majority of clubs are "do not touch the dancer anywhere during the dance, not even her sides"), but you could probably find OTC with the right dancer. Alternatively, you could just try backpage or tnaboard.

That sounds like it would be fun, but the laws here (dancers must keep tops and bottoms covered in VIP) wouldn't allow it.

I've seen some very nice cars in club parking lots, especially in vegas. I usually assume they belong to dancers.

I have not really noticed any decrease in dancer quality. Most clubs I've visited lately I'd say there are 1-3 really hot ones that are my type.

For the ones that say they're going back to school, nursing seems to be the most popular major, but I always thought that made sense because it's something doable and would give them a decent job. I've also had two say they were planning to do law school (generally motivated by some injustices they see around them), and a few say they had no school plans.
As for whether they'll really sit with you after a dance, I think it depends on whether they think they can get more money out of you in the future. If you live nearby and just spent lots of money on them, they will generally come back and sit with you. If you were thrifty or they know you're travelling and there are other potential customers in the club, it doesn't make much sense for them to come back to you.
