If you can find a Cafe Risque (there is one in Dunn, NC and one in Micanopy, FL), they have booths with with padding that resembles a hospital bed with the head raise a little. However, they have cameras in the booths and there is absolutely no touching.

Last Thursday a fav called and asked me to come see her at the SC. I said okay and headed down. I get there and she is at the bar with some guy and comes over and says she'll be with me in a while, she just has to finish the glass of wine the guy bought for her.
A little while later he goes to get a lapper from another dancer and my fav comes over and gives me a couple of dances and then heads back to the bar when the guy goes back. So, out of 40 minutes I'm there I get 10 minutes of her time after she called me so I say screw this and walk by her and tell her by and I leave.
I then get a text from her saying: "Y did you leave I was fixing to go over there. Thanks. That really hurt my feelings."
I reply: "U asked me to come down cause u weren't making $. I get there and you spend 10 minutes with me and 30 at the bar. I got tired of sitting alone."
She replies: "Im sorry im bout to quit this place they dont care bout no body but there money."
Well, fortunately her sister had contacted me the day that this happened and I had already made arrangements to have her come over the next night so all is good.
Point being that if they don't fulfill their part then screw 'em. Let another girl dance for you the next time you go to the club. Let the ATF make the next move. If she doesn't, move on.
Also, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Don't just have one fav. Have a few for backup.

The way I look at it is if a girl sits with a guy for a time and doesn't get any money out of him she is too dumb for me to spend time on. My favs will sit with me for a long time as I'm good for about 10 dances on the night and I go to the stage every time they're on it. They will go looking for other lap/table/private dances every once-in-awhile which is okay with me. One will find out quickly if someone wants a dance before she'll spend any time with them. All this is good 'cause I know they're in it for the money, not the lovin.

I'd do it for one I know. How did I learn. I didn't point it out to one and she didn't know until another dancer called her to the side of the stage and told her. She squatted and pushed it back in. She came to me and asked me if I saw it and I told her I did and that I didn't want to embarrass her. She told me to let her know in the future.
I went to a club where the girl going off stage would do a quick check for strings and TP on the one going on.

As to a girl being in it to earn money, I couldn't agree more, however, a one-shot private dance may not earn her as much money as someone, like the OP, who may "waste" some of her time talking but actually be good for a few rounds of say five private dances in the night. The girl who doesn't figure that out deserves to starve. On the other hand, the OPs ATF probably did the smarter thing in avoiding a scene.

No, I wouldn't stop going. I have noticed that I don't last as long of late but heck I'm 63. I can still get it up and in though I can't maintain for as long as I did when I was 60.

I can believe it. I know a dancer who is a Mental Health RN. She works in a MH nursing home during the day and dances four nights. She didn't quit dancing when she go her RN because she loves the dancing and the hustle.

Or just do like shadowcat does and call the dancer and ask her if she'll be there. Dancers will lie to you about a lot of things but the smart ones certainly won't lie about this.

The owner of Harper's in Winston-Salem has a tip jar at the door. I always put in a buck 'cause I shoot the bull with her for a good 15 minutes before entering and sometimes when leaving. She is a character. She also doesn't mind the dancers giving customers their phone numbers - her reasoning is that customers can call to tell the dancer when they will visit so the girl can make sure she is there.

I have to go alone since my bud's wife tightened his reins. We used to go almost every week to a club during the course of the day while he was working. He is in business for himself and has to go out of town every week and I went with him and we stopped at the club for lunch. Now his wife goes so he can take her shopping. He really loves that.
