@Shadow, due respect but if you phrased the question that way then I'm not at all surprised the woman answering the phone was short with you - "do you have your liquor license back?" sounds like an investigative reporter, not a potential customer. What's rong with "Do you serve alcohol?" Obviously the club's status is questionable right now, so I'm sure everyone working there is tense. Rumor has it after the temporary closure a number of dancers started applying to other clubs (not going to specify which since all of this is unconfirmed). For whatever faults it may have, Oasis is a solid club and it would be a significant loss to the metro ATL clubbing scene if they do end up shutting their doors. It would also set a dangerous precedent as a "win" for the politicians who made shutting it down part of their agenda.

any SCs out there still show XXX movies in the club
Bare N Legal in Pomoma, CA runs porn on one of two screens above the bar. It's low-quality stuff from probably the era you remember this being common. I'd much rather watch - or better yet, talk to, touch, etc. - attractive, live women in front of me. Isn't that the point of being at a club?

+1 to Ishmael. Why would any woman who knows such extensive details of a husband's infidelities be (a) so focused on repeating them here, or (b) confused in the least whether or not she should divorce the schmuck and take as much of his money as possible in the process?

Notice the date on the article Shadow posted is from 2017 - not seeing anything more recent that updates the legal situation, and obviously the club's been operating "business as usual" (well, more or less anyway) since then. Curious if anyone has any factual and substantive information to share.

Is Detroit the best strip club destination?
For all the reasons Papi mentioned, it's hard to make an argument against Detroit as the best overall clubbing destination in the U.S. From a dicussion thread not too long ago: https://www.tuscl.net/discussion.php?id=53781 Quoting: " I've clubbed in a lot of places and I have to say the best quality and value for money consistently for a city has to be Detroit metro. Other places have a single club as an outlier (e.g. Follies) but lack consitent quality and/or readily available extras in a majority of clubs." I also second @Papi's sentiment that for all of Detroit's virtues, it definitely has shortcomings that the other contenders (esp. LA/COI and Miami/SoFla) lack.

Nashville area SC to go to
Unless you're happy with overpriced zero-contact dances, nothing in metro Nashville is worth the time or money. Nearest club I'm aware of that's even halfway decent is roughly an hour drive away (Midnight Express in Smithville).

Strippers' Many Names
Obviously 99.9% of dancers use a stage name for privacy purposes. But when there are as many layers as the case Art's Brother encountered, there's clearly more to the story - criminal past, or trying to avoid family or an ex come to mind as most likely, but we can only speculate. It's probably not the case with Pauela, but I've hypothesized that a significsnt percentage of dancers suffer from Emotional Intensity Disorder (aka Borderline Personality Disorder). One of its characteristics is issues of identity, which could account for multiple aliases/ frequent name changes. Other symptoms include unstable relationships and substance abuse/self-harm - both of which are practically cliches where dancers are concerned.

Well that didn't take long...
It means one of four things: A) You can be a doormat and loan her the $40 for nothing in return B) You can be a PL and advance her the $40 in exchange for dances as you follow her into the club C) You can run a "system" and tell her to earn the $40 with a quick BJ before work D) You can wave goodbye to any hope of repeating the "amazing" sex and tell her to get her $40 someplace else.

What would you have done - Water Shot
RickDugan makes a good point that in many cases dancers would get plastered in a hurry if they did a shot every time a custy wanted them to. Shotgirls have an even bigger risk since a customer buying a shot "for them" is fundamental to their job. Of course there are also 98 lb dancers that could drink me under the table 7 days a week, and being mindful of the female staff's state of inebriation doesn't require the kind of criminal fraud the OP describes. The problem boils down to the club having a much greater financial stake in maximizing profits from drink sales than any obligation (legally, ethically, or just plain good business sense) to keep the gals on the floor from being fall-down drunk. In the club's eyes they're independent contractors and adults who should know their own limits.

I strongly prefer women of color. Every color.
Location, Location, Loca... Wait, what?
I'm frequently mobile so the default location wasn't accurate, but I think it would be preferable for most posters if this feature was "opt-in." Obviously no issue with reviews that establish where I've been clubbing, but I prefer not to publicly announce where "home" is.

Thrown out of a club in less than three minutes! WTF?
I'm a much less frequent visitor than goldmonger, but I can vouch for the bouncers @ Oasis being colossal pricks. Fortunately it's been pretty rare (like counting on one hand, out of probably hundreds of visits) that I have any run-ins with the "Goodtime Gestapo," but when I have they are consistently out to prove something without any regard whatsoever for customer service or resolving an issue with fundamental fairness in mind. As far as the specific story, without more to go on it's impossible to guess what set the dancer off, but it's rare that you'd have a good outcome from fighting that battle (as others have alluded, the more she pulls this sor of crap the less credibility she'll have, but it doesn't stop her from pulling you into her drama). Will be interesting to see if you do go back in a couple of months whether there's any follow-up, or if you're back to business as usual.

Dives, upscale or neither?
I'd say my clubbing preferences vary to some degree between "home" and "road" visits. When traveling I'm pretty flexible on the quality of the club, and tend to gravitate toward the best overall entertainment value whether that's found in a dive club or the most posh joint in a given market. If I'm "window shopping" I might opt for an upscale club with better quality dancers but higher prices/lower average bang for your buck (examples: Bare Elegance LAX, Cheetah Atlanta). If I'm "slumming it" then I'll trade off a lot of the creature comforts for higher mileage/lower costs (e.g. Henry VIII Inkster, Partner's Tavern in Erie PA), although I'm still fairly selective on which dancers I'll spend time and money on. When clubbing in my "home market" I usually gravitate to a mid-tier club where I can relax comfortably, the talent level is consistently above average (if not necessarily spectacular), and my typical spending per trip will result in a good time at least 3 out of 4 visits.

Total chump here
@Loverboy "I guess my problem is when I go to the club I know it is fantasy land but I am looking for a real connection with a girl. I get they are dancers and hustling to make money, it is a business after all. But I enjoy being able to blur the line." Sorry if this sounds more harsh than intended, but if you're looking for a "real connection" in a strip club then you *don't* get it. You're not going to find a genuine relationship unless the transactional aspect is entirely removed from the equation - i.e. you don't pay for dances or OTC, loan her money, or even go to her club (and a key sign of a dancer thinking of you as anything other than a paycheck is that she will tell you not to pay her for her time/company, and not want you to see her at work). It's fine to want to have some level of "connection" with a dancer that makes you comfortable with each other and heightens the quality of the experience (which is true for both of you). But don't make the classic PL mistake of believing that familiarity and comfort goes past the time you're paying for. You alluded to this dancer being older which you somehow think means she's unlikely to have a boyfriend. I beg to differ. Odds are extremely good she has a significant other (boyfriend, husband, and/or baby daddy), one or more kids, and you're probably just one of several customers she has in her contacts to call when she needs financial help for as little effort as possible. She's been doing this long enough to know just how to manipulate you. Don't beat yourself up too much, it sounds like you didn't spend too much on this gal before you figured out you were being hustled. Many a PL has spent far more to get far less in return, and all too often never quit until they were in a financial jam. The heart and the penis are powerful motivators, and if they're working together your brain can have a hard time staying in control. Losing her number and/or not revisiting her club are wise suggestions. And before you set foot in another club looking for a "connection," you should be honest with yourself about what you really want vs. what you can really get from clubbing.

Is Dilbert a PL?
When the strip first gained widespread popularity, I recall talking to a friend that worked at a major telecom. He and his co-workers were convinced the comic was based on their management (this was before the modern interwebs made confirming such things a few keystrokes away). A year or so later Adams gave an interview that confirmed he had worked for Pacific Bell. So not the same company, but a related industry. I think the "universal" truths of the corporate culture - and particularly some of its frustrations - are why the comic gained such widespread popularity. The movie Office Space covers much of the same ground.
