It's a garbage site with nothing but rumors and arguing between strippers and customers.

I wish you well and obviously you're making the right decision to stay out of clubs because you're confusing a pay-to-play fantasy with a real relationship. Most rookies who fall for a stripper get burned quickly, learn their lesson and keep clubbing but do it right. If you're getting this hung up on a stripper I'd suggest you get some counseling to deal with civvie relationships. You're just going to make yourself miserable with women. Good luck.

I've gotten this reaction when a stripper has "warned" me about the "bad girls" at the club. Of course, I'm going to use that info and search these girls out. After the first stripper sees me with the bad girls, I get lectured like she's my wife or something. I've always just laughed and walked away.
My favorite testy stripper experience involved a dancer who at best a 5 and was wearing a pair of rotted out sneakers while trying to sell me a VIP. I passed because my favorite at the time, a red hot Asian, started her shift. After the Asian and I left the VIP, I caught a full round of screaming from little miss rotten sneakers. Maybe she needed money for shoes. Anyhow, that turned out to be her last day of working at that club.

Thanks, Shailynn. Back in the 90's, this was a great club. It sits out in the country, and I always felt completely safe there, although the only two times I ever felt I was going to get involved in a club fight both occurred here. The Norton cops have a history of scoping out this place. Now they'll have even more reason to eyeball it.

WTF? I pulled into Lisa's Cabaret once, and the Akron cops were there running the plate of every car in the lot. Makes you wonder how often they do this at clubs. Gatsbys is a nice club, but it's in a rough area. That might have had something to do with the police interest.

Shailynn, I'm fine. This is one of just two or three clubs in Akron that I never visited. It had a bad rep and wasn't in a particularly safe part of town. There are some places where even I won't go!

Repeating what has already been said:
- She took your number to call you when she works again. It's a business.
- Your emotions are getting involved. Huge mistake!
A friend of mine dated a stripper for a year. They even moved in together. She always came home from the club with a stack of business cards and numbers. She'd start making calls before her next shift.

Honestly, you made a rookie mistake here: you got emotionally involved with a stripper. These girls get paid to make us feel special, and some of them are great at weaving the tale that we're the only customer (or one of a select few) they do extras with. Maybe that's true (though I believe in most cases it isn't), but at the end of the day it's just business to them. I suspect you were willing to overpay and over tip out of a feeling of gratitude or because you were hoping there was something more to a business relationship. I believe this because I made the same mistake when I first started clubbing. It's almost like dating a woman you really, really like so you lavish her with attention and more tangible things in the hope she'll reciprocate with the same feelings. In the SC world, this is a recipe for disappointment. You're feeling hurt because she dropped her guard for a moment and let you know it's really about the money. That's why she had to switch gears and act extra appreciative. As mrrock said, these girls do take you for granted over time. She knew you for a year and probably figured she had a steady customer. Then she pushed you too far. My advice: Move on to other girls. Learn your lesson. Watch how you spend your money and remain emotionally detached. You'll have a much better time. Remember, if you wanted to overspend on a woman who ended up pissing you off, you could just get a girlfriend. Going to clubs is all about reducing the aggravation that comes with pursuing women and sex.

Holy shit! I visited U of M 20 years ago and walked away in pretty good health (I hope). I guess those were the good old days.
By the way, some of us rely on those aroused strippers in Akron VIP rooms. Hell, if it wasn't so late I'd be heading out now.

Yes, shailynn!!!! Keep the sports gear at home. Hit Detroit, have a great time and then get your surgery. When you feel better, post some reviews so we know how you did!

If you're looking for quality mileage, Detroit is the place. For low quality, cheap mileage head to Akron. Personally, if I was looking at surgery, I'd hit Detroit.

Whodey, huge difference. The area they're in was gang territory for years. The old, abandoned Rolling Acres mall is across the street. The cops are constantly checking it for drugs and gang activity. If you get a chance, check out the YouTube videos on it. People have broken it to ride dirt bikes through the place, and most of what's inside has been destroyed. i honestly believe the only things keeping this club open are (1) it attracts a crowd and makes money and (2) most of the other businesses nearby have moved out. There's really no one to complain. The club can always argue that they're doing their part by searching everyone and turning in anyone who shows up with a weapon. I just can't imagine ever wanting to go to a club where I felt I had to arm myself or stopping at one where the other patrons regularly try to sneak guns in.

Dude, you're taking this all too seriously. When you're having anxiety about not making it to the club, it's time to take a step back and check your priorities. That's one of the first rules of clubbing--it's all about the fun. FYI--I had those moments when I was younger when I felt I really needed to get to the club to see my ATF. I understand where you're coming from. The club can wait, especially when you're choosing between it and a test..

Shailynn, good point on the drugs they're doing. Coke is "a hell of a drug." But I don't think the physical destruction comes as quickly and terribly as meth. The coke heads could, at least, do their jobs. The meth and pill heads I've run into the past two years could barely stand.

I've noticed the same thing. I think part of the reason, here in my region at least, is that the number of clubs has grown. A lot of clubs can't be as choosy as they once were, and plenty of them are letting almost anyone dance--hence the increase in fatties and druggies. Also, there are several more high-end clubs, and they tend to pick up the best girls. Since these clubs tend to be "no extras" bars, the dancers aren't in competition with girls who are offering special fun. These girls can count on the occasional whale to help them pay the bills along with OTC. Drugs also have had a huge impact. When I started clubbing, the dancers tended to do coke. Now they're strung out on heroin, meth and pills. A lot of those are strung out during their entire shift.

A lot of good comments here. Whodey, you hit the nail on the head. Plenty of these women have figured out how to make the most money with the least effort--isn't that the American way? Smartphones have made this situation worse because dancers now have a way to entertain themselves. They aren't going to get bored and make a few rounds because they now have something to occupy their time.
As far as just asking, I've always had terrible luck with that. Nearly every time I've approached a dancer I ended up regretting it because the dance was so lame.

Hey guys! I've never been to this club and never had any interest in stopping by because of its reputation. From what I can tell it has an unusual setup. It's a black night club that also has dancers.
I caught this in the article: Akron police have been called to the strip club 129 times since the beginning of 2012. Twenty-nine of those calls came this year, according to records.
A lot of those calls, apparently, is the club turning in people trying to sneak weapons in.Gatsby's North is nearby and they never seem to have any problems. The Ace of Spades is at the top of my DO NOT VISIT list.

Definitely take the Steelers to cover. Vick only had one day of real practice before the Thursday night game, but some important injured players are coming back.

Shailynn, you never cease to entertain.
most of the owners/managers I've met really don't care about making the most of their clubs. They're just hoping some combination of drinks and titties will pay the bills.Hey, if they have decent Friday and Saturday nights, are able to pay their bills and pocket some money, they're pretty satisfied. They'll watch a fortune walk out the door and down the street before they pursue it. As noted before, they aren't hobbyists like us or even casual clubbers. They're just looking to invest in the SC concept and make some bucks while hoping to keep their clubs out of the headlines.

TUSCL’s #1 Soothsayer!
A good defense lawyer might still be able to do nothing. I'm familiar with that scenario, and I've seen it played out more than several times.
I used to work and club in the Belden Village area of Canton. At the time it was the top spot in the state for DUI arrest and convictions. For a small area, it garnered more DUIs than large metropolitan areas like Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati. It was an upscale shopping area lots of places to eat and drink. The state police and local cops picked up people from dusk until well after the bars closed. I knew all sorts of people who were busted. I had a co-worker popped in front of me after we left a bar. I had nothing. He had two Bud Lights and two Jack and cokes over a four hour period. He was under .08. He was an athletic guy and thought he passed the field sobriety test. The cop disagreed and arrested him. I spent the six months accompanying him to court dates as a witness. He paid thousands of dollars to a lawyer he grew up with who specialized in DUIs. It still did no good and he was found guilty. When he went to DUI camp for three days, he faced the same harsh truth as a lot of other people. Judges and juries didn't care if you claimed you were fine and your BAC was under .08. If the cop said you were impaired, you were done. The district attorney's office put up a stone wall to anyone looking to plead down a DUI charge. They knew they could win.
Now, this isn't going to be the case everywhere. But why take the chance? There's way too many people out there who believe it's always "someone else" who gets busted for a DUI and somehow they'll get off if they hire the right lawyer. It doesn't work that way. Plenty of people have played that game and lost.

Thanks for posting. This is why I'm always a bit leery about trying out clubs in a new territory, though the same has happened near me. I used to work in Cleveland near the Brookpark Road clubs. I never liked going to any of them--always had a weird vibe. I worked with a young guy who decided to head over to the Crazy Horse one night. He had several beers at the bar, talked to some dancers and then completely blacked out. He woke up in his car at 6 the next morning parked in a bank parking lot 2 minutes from his condo. He was embarrassed but felt happy to be alive. When he tried to get gas on the way to work, his debit card and a bunch of other cards were declined until he finally found one that worked. After making some calls, he found his bank account had been drained and most of his cards were maxed out. When he went to the club, they said they had him on tape getting VIP dances all night and getting cash advances to tip extra. His card companies told him he was shit out of luck, and he didn't want to go to the police.
