Robert Lantz Jr., 36, is charged with murder and felonious assault in connection with the fight at Desiree's strip club that left Daniel Carraway, 63, dead.
Barberton Municipal Court Judge Jill Flagg Lanzinger set Lantz's bond at $2 million during a court appearance Friday in Barberton Municipal Court.
Norton police were called to the strip club in the 4900 block of Wooster Road West about 10:15 p.m. Thursday. Witnesses told police they saw Lantz knock Carraway unconscious after repeatedly hitting him, according to court records.
Officers found Carraway next to his car in the club's parking lot. He was taken to Akron City Hospital, where he died at 12:20 a.m. Friday.
Witnesses told police they saw Lantz run from the club on Union Street toward 31st Street, according to court records.
Barberton police officers found him on 31st Street at Harden Drive. Lantz had blood on his clothes and admitted to being in a fight at the strip club, court records say.
The Summit County Medical Examiner said the results of their autopsy are pending.
Medical examiner records say it appears Carraway suffered bleeding on his brain and an injury to his lung.
Defense attorney Mary Jo Hanson said during Friday's court appearance said Lantz is not a danger to society and that the fight was an isolated incident. She said he lives with his girlfriend and baby in New Franklin. His only criminal history includes a drunken driving conviction, Hanson said.
"He's otherwise been an upstanding citizen," Hanson said.
It's the third person to be killed in a Summit County strip club in the last month.
Jerry Stallings, 32, was fatally shot Tuesday inside Centerfold's strip club on n the 1300 block of East Archwood. The shooting happened after he and another man fought inside the club.
Joshua Curtis, 27, was shot about 5 a.m. Oct. 25 in the Ace of Spades parking lot in the 2500 block of Romig Road.
