Aw, schucks. I never communicated with Art directly, but certainly enjoyed reading his posts.

Getting in touch with ATV if she left the club
Your chances of getting her number are basically zero, but you can totally call the club/tweet@them/ask a dancer if she still works there. If she doesn't, you can ask if they know if she works at another club, but they likely won't know. There's a huuuuuuge gap between those things and a dancer giving her number to you when they don't know you.

"I read the Emilia Clarke no more nude scenes wasn't true." What I heard was that "an actress" refused to do nude scenes, but the actress wasn't identified. Since Emilia hasn't had nude scenes in a while (and hasn't really had a reason to, but that hasn't stopped the show before), I guess people just assumed it was her. Since then, I've heard that rumor get assigned to Esme Bianco, who plays Ros, since her character was killed off, supposedly because she refused to do nude scenes, which is a really silly demand to make when your character doesn't exist in the books and has no real purpose other than getting naked and being someone for other characters to think out loud to. No idea if that's true or not, but that's the latest I heard.

Also: I was really hoping they'd get someone more attractive to play Asha/Yara (Theon's sister - they changed the name from the books to the show).

"The battles for the throne resemble the Wars of the Roses." I think they're actually largely based on the War of the Roses, and I think the author may have actually said so. Certain characters from the books/show map really well onto the people from real life. Also Lannister/Lancaster, etc. I don't really find Emilia Clarke all that attractive, but I can see why others might. I'd be after: 1) Ygritte 2) Melisandre 3) Doreah 4) Margaery After that, I'm not overwhelmingly interested.

I've read it for the club reviews by dancers, just out of curiosity, but I've studiously avoided reading anything else there. In a perfect world, I would prefer to go to clubs that don't treat their dancers like shit, and the reviews can give some insight into whether that's the case or not. The reviews are mostly old and infrequent, so reading them hasn't affected any decision I've made so far.

I'm in San Diego. It seems like it's pretty well-known that the scene generally sucks here. The laws are pretty strict, including a general no-touch rule, 6 foot separation when a dancer takes off any part of her clothing, and the California requirement that clubs serving alcohol can only be topless. So, you can't actually get a topless or nude lap dance here. Even with all that, dance prices are generally the same as in LA or other places - $20 for a single song dance, with options for a minimum block of songs in the VIP areas that vary from club to club. Single song dances are almost always air dances. However, there are places and times where the girls will bend/break the rules, especially for the longer blocks - you'll usually get at least a grind, and a decent amount of girls will pull their tops aside and allow 2-way dances, so it's not totally bad. Reviews here are generally written by folks who are used to getting a little more value from single song dances, so the ratings and reputation suffer a bit from that. You're still better off going somewhere else, but it isn't horrible. Cheetahs is the class of the area as far as what you can usually get away with and the quantity/quality of dancers - move that place to LA with all the same dancers and it'd be one of the best clubs in the country. It's always a gamble though. One exception to all that is EyeCandy Showgirls, which is actually in Chula Vista, so isn't subject to San Diego laws. There, you can actually get a nude 2-way dance. Prices are similar to Rhino clubs in LA, but unfortunately, the dancers are way, way short of Rhino quality.

    California Disclaimer
I think the disclaimer (or note) is just trying to help people with their expectations, although it seems like a lot of people don't even bother reading it before writing reviews. There are *tons* of reviews of CA clubs where the reviewer complains about nude clubs not serving alcohol, which is a legitimate gripe if alcohol service is something you're used to. But to blame the club for it is sort of missing the point. People reading the reviews can just look at the disclaimer for CA, so nobody needs to waste their time complaining about lack of alcohol in their reviews.

Questions about first time to Tijuana
I haven't gone down myself, but based on the reviews I've read, I can provide answers for question 1: There are parking lots on this side of the border where you can leave your car. They cost money, but I don't know how much. I had a co-worker who's car was stolen from one of those lots, but I've gone to TJ before (not for strip clubbing), used one of the lots, and not had a problem. Cabs should be plentiful on the other side of the border and you should probably negotiate $5 for your trip to "zona norte" or Calle Coahuila before you get in the cab, or just name the bar you're planning on going to (most likely Adelita's or Hong Kong, right? If not one of those, most of the other brothels are in the same area). Based on some of the reviews I've read, a decent amount of the girls speak some English, but speaking some Spanish yourself will obviously be helpful. Supposedly, sex workers in the area are regulated and have regular checkups and they require use of condoms and stuff in a way similar to brothels in Nevada, but that requirement doesn't really say anything about the girls' personal hygiene level. Also, this is Mexico, so who knows how diligent the enforcement of those requirements is. There's actually a decent wikipedia article on the Zona Norte that covers some of this stuff.

    Stripper With A PhD?
Working at a club wouldn't necessarily keep a girl from earning a PhD, especially just working 2 or 3 shifts a week. It wouldn't leave much free time, but if you need to make decent money in a short period of time, dancing is a decent option. I've only met one dancer who claimed to be in an actual real college, and that claim stood up to some scrutiny. I've met far more who were in cosmetology school.

It seems like about half the strip club reviews on Yelp in San Diego are by straight women, and based on those reviews, it seems like part of going to the strip club is to feel superior to the strippers and get a little ego trip.

Ever hear of good unique stripper names?
Some Greek goddess names could be good, but a lot of them would sound pretty weird for a stripper. Demeter? Hera? Calliope? Melpomene? Probably not. I did meet one named Phaedra, which was a pretty cool name, but probably inspired more by "Some Velvet Morning" by Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra than anything Greek. I could see Athena working well too. Aphrodite almost seems like it would be cliche.

I've also heard that described as "meat curtains". I don't have a particularly strong preference, but I do like a little bit of protrusion. Otherwise it feels sort of like I'm looking at someone too young to be lusting after.

    Congrats to MIami, ACC Champions!
Seconding motorhead on the distinction between the NBA and college. I have no idea why it works that way, but I love watching college ball and this is my favorite sports time of the year. Couldn't care less about an NBA game. I think part of it is that the season's shorter - college teams play fewer than half the games that NBA ones do, so the games all matter more. I also feel like the two 20 minute halves instead of four quarters has something to do with it. Then there's the tournament. If I don't have a team in the tournament, I root for total chaos.

    Congrats to MIami, ACC Champions!
I think if you take away either of those losses I mentioned, the U is a #1 without a problem. Winning the ACC just wasn't that huge of an accomplishment this year. Next year will be interesting when Pitt, ND and Syracuse come in. I'm not sure of the exact schedule on that though.

For instance, Miami lost to Georgia Tech *at home* which is kind of WTF level. Road games in the ACC are always tough, so you can sort of overlook the loss to Wake, but if you're pushing for a #1 seed, you don't want to lose by 15 to the 3rd worst team in your conference.

    Congrats to MIami, ACC Champions!
Ah, but that sword is double-edged. The ACC was a pretty weak conference this year, so I can't see giving Miami the edge over Gonzaga on that. Also, they came down a bit in their last 12 regular season from the high they were riding earlier. But yeah, Gonzaga's only got two or three "good wins". Luckily their only two losses were to teams ranked #13 at the time, although both games were blowouts.

Who would you have them replace as a #1 (based on Lunardi's bracket at ESPN)? I'd guess Indiana, but even Louiville and KU have had their lackluster moments this year. I'm also a non-North Carolina ACC alum, and it is nice to get a break from UNC and Duke.

    Los Angeles area clubs value/minute
Club_Goer, thanks for the reminder about Zbone - it's a lot more useful than I remember it from years ago. There was a review of the North Hollywood DV that mentioned that VIP Showgirls has a similar $100/half hour deal on Mondays, and Xposed has one on Wednesdays. So at least cheap bastards can get some variety.

Are those Strip Joint prices their standard deal, or are they specials? I was also looking at Bare 'N Legal, also in Pomona, and they seem to be a good deal too, just not quite to the level of DV - they have a Monday/Tuesday thing where it's $140/half hour and %70/5 song VIP on Wednesday and Thursday. Neither of those is too shabby, and from the reviews, it doesn't look like they have a drink hustle either. If they have a bunch of girls working the deal days, it might be worth a shot. But yeah, the DV thing is pretty good, and hits a decent sweet spot of a lot of factors. Dance price is obviously cheap, since it's a DV the club could be more comfy but at least isn't seedy, there's a ton of girls working on Thursdays for the special and while they're not going to win awards they're not bad looking, and you get bottomless soda refills so there's no drink push. I was kind of hoping there'd be some club that would have similar pricing with like, Rhino quality girls in the area, but that would probably put everyone else out of business and bring about the heat death of the universe.

Do you often meet dancers that seem to come from an alternate reality?
I'm going to agree with Dougster and gmd that it's a sort of SS line. I've had one girl at a club use an odd tactic a couple times without recognizing me - she'd mention that she was disappointed that I went and got a dance with someone else already (which was actually true in both cases) because she wanted to talk to me. So, I'm guessing that's partly a strategy on her part to find guys that are actually getting dances instead of just watching as well as an ice-breaker line, and also maybe a way to avoid the vice squad undercover units here in San Diego.

    DejaVu and Little Darlings
I'm not going through every DV location on their site, but the only one I can find so far that's both 18+ and has a full bar is in New Orleans. Toledo has a full bar, but is listed as 21+ - that may only be for customers though. And apparently, DV now owns the Chicken Ranch brothel in Nevada.
