OK this is a little weird but how much is an acceptable tip for this
Kingcripple: You can simplify Gator's formula by skipping the math parts and going straight to the self abuse. Further clarity might be forthcoming if this act if performed in a public place, preferably without pants.

OK this is a little weird but how much is an acceptable tip for this
In a club where there is not pressure to buy overpriced drinks for dancers, buying them a drink and/or a shot from the shot girl is a nice way to thank them for their conversation, particularly if you are not going to get at least one dance. If you ASK them to just sit and talk and the conversation lasts for more than 15-20 minutes, you should probably tip them the minimum charge for a dance. If they plop down and spend that time talking on their own, a drink, shot, dance, or nothing at all should be adequate compensation for the chat time THEY chose to spend with you.

    2 years on TUSCL
It's been 2 years for me. I have yet to meet up with fellow travelers in the NE Ohio area, but its bound to happen soon. Looking forward to more hijinks here and in the clubs.

    Another Cut and Paste Review
The only thing worse than plagiarism is bad, pointless plagiarism. This reminds me of some of the cut-and-paste dreck my students turn in from time to time. Gets 'em a -0- every time.

    Stripper names
There was an eastern European dancer/shot girl in one place who went by "Valaria"; it fit her look and accent perfectly. She got pregnant and disappeared; man, I miss her.

Enferno Gentleman's Club owner arrested after business is searched
Dudester, you are not far from the truth with that observation. In spite of having urban centers like Cleveland, Ohio is really quite a provincial state filled with "salt of the earth" types out of touch with reality. The zealots in Cincinnati are more akin to Kentucky Bible thumpers than urban sophisticates and they took advantage of Ohio's conservative tendencies to push the gay marriage ban and the idiodic law regulating adult businesses. Ironically, they were out to shut down the superficial parts of strip clubs, not the really naughty bits. To them, the lap dance was scandelous enough to warrent regulation; never mind the extras that most Ohioans don't even know exist. Editors of strip club guides like Night Vision and the Go Go (eastern Ohio and western Pa) promote the image of clubs that the owners give them; it would be silly and counterproductive to go below the surface. What happened in Ohio could happen anywhere (as evidenced by Detroit's crackdown) in spite of the economic benefits that adult businesses can bring to states and localities.

    Akron, OH
I went back to Akron after a long haitus based on the reviews on TUSCL and found some interesting opportunities. Jen's is a dump, but as noted, it offers some cheap thrills. My experience in VIP has been mixed, including one ROB who put the big upsell on me. I have had a better time at Georgie's across the street. It is cleaner, but very different and YMMV depending on the day and line up of "talent." In any case, its a worthwhile adventure if you are in the neighborhood.

That is a hoot. It's nice to see that Applegate, after working hard to be a "serious" actress and distance herself from Kelly Bundy, would go for something this off the wall and "Kelly-ish". Really very cool and very funny.

Lindsay Lohan fired from porno gig
Remember that Lovelace denounced her porn career in her book and claimed that she was a victim of abuse throughout her time in the business. This means that the movie will be: 1)a hatchet job on the 70s porn industry, 2) a morality play, and 3) totally non-hot, regardless of the X-rated subject matter or who plays Linda.

    WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?
If the additional amount was not excessive (although this is a matter of perspective as well--what is "excessive" to you?), I would have payed it and left happy. This assumes that her offer of this "service" was not a violation of previously agreed-upon prices. The worse ROB's usually upsell on the promise of things to come (pardon the pun) early in the dance (thus one should negotiate prior to going into VIP)rather than in the situation described. She was being pretty ornery, but not necessarily a ROB.

    crappiest clubs
Went once to a place in Linesville, PA called Club Paradise that shared a building with a flea market. Ugly girls (the best looking one had a lazy eye), horrific decor, scary customers, suicidal deer running in front of your car on the way home from its east-of-bumf**k location. Brrrrrrrrrrr . . .

Rookie trying to become a strippers regular, how much need to spend to be releva
Gatorfan, Rod, Jay: Your formula approach was fascinating, and to an old historian, mostly incomprehensable. However, I can now honestly tell my college students that algebra has a practical application in real life. As for the original question, I have found that consistency is as effective as anything in establishing yourself as a regular. Even if you don't visit as often as they would like, dancers and staff will remember you fondly if you get more than one dance per girl, buy some shots from the shot girl (including a couple for dancers), offer to buy a drink for your favorite, and tip the door girl, servers, and bartenders. On top of all that, be a decent, pleasent person that stands out from the rude, disinterested, boorish, cheap-skate knuckleheads they deal with on a daily or nightly basis.

    Variations in LD room design.
The oddest thing I have seen are the upstairs lap dance cubicles at the Crazy Horse Men's Club in Cleveland. They are pretty nice, with couches (the girls all scramble for the cloth couches; the leather ones stick to their asses) and beaded curtains. Not sure whether there are cameras. The wacky thing is that some of them have little TVs in them. At $20 per dance, what possible reason could there be to have a freaking TV in the booth?? Prim0: Jill's in Wheeling, WV has a bed dance. Haven't been there in a while to check the mileage. Steve229: The guy sipping a beer watching the action reminds me of the scene in Showgirls where the performance artist wanna be watches Elizabeth Berkley give Kyle Maclanahan a lap dance. Bouncer: "Whatcho lookin at?" Customer: "Nuthin--nuthin at all."

Just curious...do you prefer going to strip clubs alone or with a friend?
I usually go by myself. The few times I have gone with friends, there has been at least one goober who doesn't want dances, wants dances but doesn't want to spend money, whines about the prices, bitches about work, his old lady, or both, refers to the dancers as either "whores" or "poor misguided girls", and/or wants to go home early. Occasionally I'll strike up an acquaintance with a fellow traveler just to shoot the breeze, but if I am looking to do some VIP or in search of mileage, alone is always best. Welcome to the board Kailee100!

Hi, this is your strip club calling . . .
Steve: I just filled out a little slip of paper with a phone # once at the entrance and got called within a couple of weeks. That was a year or more ago so I really hadn't thought about getting called again. We go on Thursday, Oct. 28 at around 8. If you are in the Canton area, stop by. PM me for the name to give at the door. You other NE Ohio TUSCL characters can come too if you can stand the $10 air dances at the Diamond Royale. The more the merrier.

    Prize Dances
Hey gk, I also have Dockside polo shirt from my only visit there years ago. I dont' recall it being that great a dance either. The Diamond Lodge in Rootstown, OH occasionally gives you raffle tickets for buying $5 shots and/or $20 nude air dances and then draws one for a $35 gift certificate for the club. This is in addition to the usual 2 fer 1's, T-shirt, shot glass, beer mug, hat, free passes, sweats, blah, blah, blah giveaways that go on forever. I still have unwearable products from clubs that have been closed for years, like the Porcelain Dollhouse in Canton (now a vacant lot.)

jeans? are you kucking fidding me?
Like Dudester, until I got on this board, it never occurred to me that wearing non-jeans would help both the dancer and myself enjoy the LD experience at a higher level. For most of us who came into our party years during the 70s-80s, jeans were simply what we wore when we went out to party. Once I got into my career, I wore dress slacks to work, then changed into jeans to go out. It was just natural to wear them to SC's as well. I do recall the first time I got felt up by a dancer while wearing shorts and I made an effort to wear them more often, but until recently, I didn't think about the types of trousers I had on. Now I wear soft, dark slacks and the results have been most favorable for all parties involved.

Watch Lindsay Lohan bang 4 guys at once...
The fact that this film is largely based on Lovelace's post-born- again-Christian, "I was forced into porn" memoir means that no matter how explicit or what its rating, the film will be a big, melodramatic downer. If mainstream cinema wants to do full nudity and explicit sex, give me the cheerfully tacky "Showgirls" "the quasi-historical epic "Caligula," or the experimental silliness of "Shortbus" over this made-for-TV dreck. BTW, seeing a topless, horny Hathaway in "Havoc" is still a turn-on, even with its predictable cautionary "stay away from bad boys" theme.

Just a fat, creepy old pervert.
    Dancers' sexual orientation
I think there is a generational, popular culture issue here as well. For at least the past 10 years or maybe longer, bi-girls and "lipstick" lesbians have been trendy and acceptable in many circles. Much of the appeal of "amateur" videos like Girls Gone Wild or any of the stuff filmed at Mardi Gras or Spring Break features girl on girl kissing and groping. Although some is scripted or fueled by alcohol, it seems pretty clear that a large percentage of 20-30-something women in the general public are willing to tryst with other girls. Strippers are a reflection of this trend, so it is no surprise that they are willing and often eager to play with other girls, particularly knowing how much men like it. Some older dancers are not into it at all and there are certainly straight girls who are turned off by other women the same way all straight men are turned off by other men (there are no bi-males; there are only a few gay males who will fuck women) It is worth noting that in some of these bi-girl/lesbian relationships there is a clear dominant and submissive, which also carries over into the club in the form of biting, hair pulling, ass-slapping, and other aggressive sexual behavior towards each other.

Has anyone ever caught a cold or flu from a dancer?
The only time I caught a cold from a dancer was when I went against my better judgement and let an unfamiliar, unattractive, whiny, sniffly, scrawny, skanky woman dance for me. What was I thinking? She even said she was sick. I never saw her in that club again, so I was not the only one who thought she was horrible. Brrrrrrrr. It still makes me shudder.

    Musing on Music in Clubs
Sorry fellers, but Free Bird would be a nightmare. Too long; too cliche; too 20 million freaking years old. The song length seems like a bonus but not if people actually nod off. Pity the poor girl on stage trying to dance to all that guitar flailing. Same with Led Zeppelin. For example, Whole Lotta Love (which I have heard played in SC) is not only undancable about half way through, but its just old and clunky. Modern symphonic rock would work better than actual classical. Same dramatic hooks but with strong female vocals and metal power chords. Stuff like Nightwish, Epica, Delain, and Evenescence works nicely for a slow grind, both on stage and on laps. And its new. Not a million-billion-been hearing-it-since-the-70s-freaking-years-OLD! Rap and Hip-Hop are pretty much a waste. I know one girl who manages to make Eminem interesting, but she's an exception. She also does a fabulous ice-cube show to the epic Pink Floyd song "Pigs", which pretty much undoes my entire theory regarding old classic rock . . .
