Why can't Ricks build a quality place in Houston? Their home club, as compared to St. James is like comparing a rusted out 74 Ford Pinto to a tricked out Jag with leather seats. I mean their home club is a dump. And their old place, now Onyx, is a dump too. Kinda reminds you of a toothless wrinkled 70 year old hooker, all saggin and wondering why guys avoid her.

10-15 years ago, some clubs had a few of the "girls next door", who looked like moonlighting cheerleaders. They were a feast for the eyes, but usually low mileage.
Today, it's rare to find that type. Like jester said, stripping has gone mainstream.

To back up how, gas is 5.00 a gallon there, houses are a lot smaller. Socialism runs England and about 80 percent of the country is under Police surveillance at any time. It costs 8.00 just to enter metro London during the day (in a car). Although much of Europe uses a U.S. type Constitution, Police are much more empowered. The Cold War necessitated Police having the power, but the restrictions were never lifted, post Cold War.

Several years back I was talking to a stripper at St. James. She was telling me how she had gone to Europe with a one way ticket and limited funds, explaining that she thought she'd just do some stripping if the money became low. She then found out that there's no money in stripping in Europe as naked women can be found at beaches and in city parks. I asked her how she got home. She got a look and changed the subject.
It's also the culture.
Throughout the 1980's, I saw 75-80 movies a year in the theaters. In college, I entertained the notion of being a film critic. As the early 90's dawned though, nudity dropped way off in American films and graphic violence became prevalent. This year, I've seen 8 movies. European films, on the other hand, are heavy on nudity and light on violence. It's not easy to see euro films here, but I happily make the 60 mile roundtrip to do so.

Most of the strippers I've talked to in Houston do the north-south thing. If they live on the south side, they'll dance on the north side to avoid being seen by family/friends-and vice versa. I-10 is a good north/south demarkation line in Houston. I've lived on the north side for the past 20 years and I've been curious as I've never really visited south side clubs and this one young guy who lives below me had a (really hot) girlfriend who set off my radar.

If you work a woman's shelter, as I have, you'll see that the only thing that there's a shortage of is bedspace for the abused women and kids.
Having said that...
Women today are much more impowered than ever before. 26 years ago I had a woman empty my bank account, and more. Having learned from that, and even being careful, sometimes there's no telling when she has a hidden ally (I have a pending article). If I thought for a second that I could get away with it, I'd supply her and her ally with a beating of epic proportions. I'm not fond of jail, so if she turns up at my door, I'll:
A) Not let her in.
B) Tell her to leave or the cops will be called (and live by it).
I grew up in a home where my mom's boyfriend beat and raped us. To her shame, she allowed it to go on for ten years. Both men and women will linger in a abusive relationship when the smart thing to do is bail.
Why do people do this to themselves? We'll never know. If any of us at this site paid attention at all, we'd know that strip clubs are very much staffed with women who have and/or continue to linger in abusive relationships. This is why states try to pass extra taxes on strip clubs, but that's merely treating a symptom instead of trying to find a cure. For me, children are the most innocent victims of this abuse and they don't have the option to bail. Instead of just taxing clubs, I think we should:
A) Require that wedding licenses require first, criminal and financial background checks,as well as a STD check. Let's stop pretending it's all about romance and be practical.
B) Repeal the 1980 federal law that says it's always in the best interest of kids to remain in the family. There are a number of deserving wannabee parents who deserve better than the bureaucratic two step. Remove kids from abusive homes and ease adoption rules. Why is it that being a parent only requires a working uterus and being an adoptive parent requires a 16 step background check and the patience of Job?

Last January I was in a club where I had extras on numerous occasions. I asled the dancer for FSITC or OTC. She became deeply offended and told me to go elsewhere, adding none of the girls do extras.
I haven't been back. I guess money isn't important to her, or the others.

1) From time to time, Houston Dolls just turns into a "Who cares" type of bordello. Once in late 2004, as I went to a back room with a gal, there were people doing the deed everywhere. It was like a roman orgy.
2) Ricks (Houston) is now on the spot where The Century Club once stood (before it weas burned and rebuilt as Ricks). I had become sort of a regular. As I walked in about 11:30 one night, the manager was locking the door. Like HD, there was an orgy going on.
