Ex-dancer testifies about drug use at Pharaoh's
I guess out there it’s not like some Midwestern areas where I’ve seen dancers in their 40s who maintain their recreational habits, have aged blatantly, but don’t care because customers still buy from anyways. And quite a few are mothers as well.

The stigma really is gone when it comes stripping
My guess is the the lack of stigma/shame is stronger for the really young dancers who aren’t too far yet removed from the K-college bubble, and regardless of whether one considers that a good or bad thing, shaming and consequences for what has traditionally been considered bad behavior has been severely diminished in that environment than it used to be. But Instagram and TikTok have shadow bans for sex workers, or even outright account removal. And there have been a lot of Reddit strippers who have bemoaned getting banned off of other subreddits not related to sex work, despite having on-topic posts/comments to the sub as a normal member. And they were surprised that it happened to them. In my opinion, the shame is there. The young ‘uns just don’t realize it as much. But also, it may be that the shame gets lowered as a future consequence in a “they can’t punish us all” kind of way. Time will tell.

    Slow night, or dead club?
I remember this club as one that offers housing to dancers. A lot of more remote clubs I think might be more inconsistent with people coming and going. I’ve heard good things about that club before from dancers though, so I know they have to be showing up at some point.

San Antonio strip joint All Stars closes, looks to sell roadside sign
Try out some random dive for the heck of it hundreds or thousands of miles away from there? Yeah, why not? Try one out in San Antonio? I remember doing a dayshift at one club once and the conversation became uncomfortable when the customer was talking about himself and then I briefly wondered if that person could have possibly known somebody else I knew. Degrees of separation are very good things

If I actually ate eggs regularly, then I’d probably just buy direct from somebody who raised their chickens directly.

Super hot dancers that apply: Do clubs make them jump through all the hoops?
In general, most club managers make decisions pretty quickly. The main thing that may slow things down is if they are strict about enforcing scheduling (I’m looking at you, Oregon!) and they will want you to work but it has to be starting on Tuesday at 7p or something like that. The other thing that might slow things down is if some dancer tries to come in on Saturday night. A few assholes may draw out an audition longer than 10 minutes. But when they are doing that, the answer is usually going to be “no” and they just want some kinda feeling of power or something. But yeah, that is always the nice thing about strip clubs. None of this multiple rounds of interviews, attaching a resume to an application that asks the same questions a resume would answer, Myers-Brigg/any other personality test, letters of recommendation, making a tik tok video dancing for ten seconds, or any other barrier to entry. Though the Ricks chain and a few other clubs are trying promote a particular app, so that club managers can get greater control and ability to get dancers tracked and blacklisted from other clubs. And some clubs want dancers to have social media presence. So sadly, I do think the hoops are going to get worse over time. 🤦🏻‍♀️

    Fall of Minneapolis
—>“Floyd ran in the same circles as Chauvin, even working security together briefly. In their neighborhood they crossed each other often and it was known Floyd was dealing in the neighborhood Chauvin patrolled. Anyway, they were opposites profession-wise, but similar proximity wise.” It would have been over three years ago or so, but I remember reading some news publication that speculated that the two had to have crossed paths sometime before. I can believe what Mate heard through the grapevine and that makes sense to me.

    Body shaming by review
Eeeeh. It’s a common trope even in the non sex-work world that “well you’re not even attractive!” is a common refrain from dudes just after they faced rejection in some way. And they obviously considers her some base level of attractive just to even try. I personally consider a lot of body shaming comments useless when it seems to be in reply to not getting a desired outcome. If a body shaming review has something like “I walked right in and right out of the club before I talked to anybody and I didn’t want to talk to anybody because of xyz physical qualities”…then I’m more likely to believe that it’s their true opinion.

Bar tender suing club. Claims it's a prostitution ring. Bar tender looks hot.
In general, it seems like the past ten years or so has been a time period where “doing things the way they always been done” doesn’t protect a group or individual from social or legal consequences like it might have in a different era. It’s probably a good idea to keep that in mind, keep eyes peeled on social trends, and consider their behavior accordingly. But in this particular case, is Sapphire going to be protected? I’d say most likely yes, and I agree that this article is probably just tabloid click bait.

    Stripper/escort/ paid sex worker…. What’s the difference
Sex worker=umbrella term for the sex industry. Yes, this term may also include a virgin who sells erotic pictures of her feet. Sex work is work related to sexual stimulation. Escort=those who intentionally charge for their time, and full service sex is implied.(Or explicit, if law enforcement fears aren’t really there.) It’s usually, but doesn’t necessarily have to be, arranged from online on platforms where both escorts and clients have agreed is a safe enough place to get a transaction. A stripper is somebody who works at a strip club. Thanks to many years of strict zoning rules, most strip clubs are grandfathered in and it’s very tough to open a new strip club anywhere nationwide. Thanks to that, it’s very easy to identify a stripper because there are only so many strip clubs out there. So a stripper is somebody who works at a strip club and isn’t part of the bar or manager staff.a stripper could be somebody doing a Bikini dance in Nashville, an air dance in San Jose, a wide variety of activities in Dallas, and an even wider variety of activities that makes one wonder why the word “stripper” is its own separate word to describe somebody. A small minority of strippers may also work for a company that does home visits, and most of those companies are for those catering to bachelor parties.

    Life with one strip club
^ Yeah, I remember one time in Dallas seeing a couple of customers from Amarillo. (For context, that is a 5.5-6 hour drive) They told me that once a month, they will make a weekend trip to Baby Dolls and hang out at the club all day/part of the night for a couple of days. The small town men are a dedicated bunch.

    Scent of a strip club
The only club I can remember the scent of is the Yellow Rose in Austin. It’s mostly a mildly pleasant scent. I think the only reason for that was just the memory as a baby stripper away from my social group from another club, and didn’t have much to do with the club itself. Though I do remember at least for a while, the women’s bathroom at Hiliter was especially AWFUL. Holy moly. I think if customers had the ability to smell that, they would run out the club screaming and looking for the nearest shower.
