one more thing about jackie kennedy, for me: she spoke different languages, which isnt' a first lady first. but she could speak spanish, although she wasn't super great at it. when JFK was running, i think she also helped out by speaking spanish at campaign stops. the night before JFK was murdered in dallas, she and jack were at a venue where there were hispanics and she went up and spoke spanish. imagine the hispanics in the room that night seeing your first lady speaking spanish. how many other first ladies ever spoke spanish publicly or came down to where you were in texas and spoke spanish? especially with the number of hispanics / latinos in this country, that's pretty cool. and sure, afterwards they're may have been first ladies who spoke spanish, but jackie doing it back then, i'll give it to her. and hey, maybe she was racist. but i read the hispanics and latinos in the room that night before jfk was murdered was mightily impressed and inspired since it just hadn't really been done like that before....

again, first ladies like dolly madison, etc would be in the top 15 or top 20. ain't no shame in that. the top 10 table is reserved.
oh and i'm looking at you, mrs. obama..your #7 ranking is in jeopardy if you don't do anything else significant with your stature after the WH. you could slip to #8 or number #10.
and yes, barbara bush is towards the bottom. she's been a vice-president's wife, president's wife and mother of a president. that should've ranked her in the top 10. too bad, she hasn't done much with her power, influence or stature. in 1990, while she was first lady, i believe, she called the tv show the simpson's "the dumbest thing she'd ever seen" where the fictional marge simpson wrote back to barbara defending her family and barbara had to concede to A FICTIONAL CHARACTER. so, someone explain this to me: how do you go from being a vice-presidential wife for 8 years, then become a first lady yourself, and a cartoon character has to teach you humility? this is who y'all championing? i'm not gloating over barbara bush's death. i'm saying give any other of the 44+ first ladies the same opportunity: 8 years being a VP's wiffe, 4 years being a President's wife, 8 years being the mother of a president and see what they do with it. i believe more than barbara bush did.

i'll answer that, a21985. i ranked edith 11th on my presidential first ladies list, (which isn't bad, just not top 10). no shame in being in the top 15. i'm reserving spots #8-10 for future first ladies who may fit the bill. otherwise edith comes in at #10 if no other first ladies in the future are that elite. E.W. doesn't rank higher in my book because she gets overshadowed by her presidential husband, woodrow who was a bigot and a racist even for his era.
like, despite bill clinton's faults, hillary still conquered 3-4 different roles on her own, however you wanna take that: first lady, senator. she ran for president. had edith conquered being in like another top tier public official role seperately, then she would've definitely been in my top 10. i was trying to not put in wives of racists in the top 10 ten, those women can be listed in the top 15 or top 20, but i can't put them in the top 10 UNLESSSSSSSSS they overshadowed their racist or sexist husband in some profound way. eleanor overshadowed franklin in some ways. she isn't #1 to me because she's also franklin's cousin. they're related. her maiden last name is also roosevelt as his is. so, i can't put her #1. i can't put her above other first ladies who weren't directly related to their husbands. lol. JFK's admin spying on MLK isn't cool, but jackie overshadowed her husband in some ways. especially the way she handled his murder with 2 kids at her age,PUBLICLY. and as someone mentioned above the way she spruced up the white house when she moved in. then again, the kennedys had money. i kinda expect folks with money to do that. po' folks won't really make that a priority. lol.
just like i can't rank any of the past first ladies who may have been racists over laura bush because she accidentally killed her high school classmate. laura bush has to be towards the bottom for that, if not the bottom. i don't wish that on anyone--accidentally killing someone. it could happen to me. i pray it doesn't. but i can't rank laura above any first lady who simply hasn't accidentally killed anyone. the way i have to rank a few women above eleanor, though she tops because she's directly related to her husband. i have to rank others above her for not being that closely related to their spouse.
also, with my first ladies top 10 list, i'm trying to give out stars, bonuses, salutes and ranks for those who went BEYOND their role of wife. edith taking over for wilson, unfortuneately, is part of the job. it's expected. sure, she excelled and should be given props but it's expected. whereas being the very first First Ladies like martha washington isn't expected. if that makes any sense. like for example, i shouldn't steal things. so, don't give me props, really, for not stealing things in my life. that's kinda expected of me. right? that's where i'm going

it also bothers me, how this should've been a bigger news story: bush jr. was flat-out drunk at the 2008 olympics WHILE he was still our president
http://gawker.com/5035885/bush-looking-drunk-at-the-olympics
barbara bush's son. this is the type of kids she puts on the world stage. my moms wouldn't. this one did. and this is who everyone is saying is so cool. not gloating over her death. IJS, yall are setting the bar real low for this woman. yall set the bar real low for some people and sky-high for others.
mother of marvin bush who worked in companies that were in charge of security at the world trade center, united airlines and dulles international airport while brother george was president. she's the matriarch. yall giving her props?
you can hate hillary clinton to death. go ahead. but the fact is: hillary has lived 3 lifetimes: been a first lady, been a senator and secretary of state. most of us can't accomplish any of those single things in one lifetime. hillary did 3. and she ran for president. sure, she failed and i didn't vote for her, but you can hate bill. you can hate hillary. you can hate. but you gotta respect. i gotta respect hillary as a first lady who did SOMETHING after the white house. props to betty ford, wife of president ford for overcoming addiction and trying to help out folks by establishing the betty ford center.
alls i'm saying is: nobody's perfect. but some of these first ladies have left a legacy after the white house. that's a true first lady. you can hate their husband or their husband's politics. but to get my props, you gotta do something after the white house. and keep your kids in check, even if they're grown.
but yall gushing over barbara bush? really?

for real, yall, give props to someone like first lady rose carter. you can hate her husband, president jimmy carter. but rose was out there in her retirement years helping to build homes beside her husband. after the white house. please salute that. recognize that.
where at least nancy reagan, you may not like her or her husband or his presidency, she tried with the "don't do drugs" campaign. sure, it wasn't that successful, but she tried something. and later, out of the white house she tried to support stem-cell research. give props to a first lady for evolving on that issue and at least doing something like that publicly.
what has barbara done, a woman who was both wife and mother to a president? i remember bush sr golfing a lot during his 4 years. the way i remember it, she was ready to get outta being first lady and seemed relieved that bush sr. didn't win.
i'm not gloating over her passing. i'm just not seeing how folks keep saying she was so awesome as a first lady. there's a lot of underlying damage that's indirectly linked to her as a matriarch, she needs to bear that responsibility too.

honestly, barbara bush is one of my all-time absolute least-favorite first ladies.
and i feel like folks forgot some shady parts that are linked to her life...
i'll just go off and randomly vent from the top on a few:
first of all, it's always bugged me that: john hinckley jr, (the cat who shot president reagan AND others standing by) is one of the sons of the biggest campaign contributor to barbara's husband, george h.w. bush's presidency. bush campaigned against reagan for the '80 election where john hinckley's pops paid a lot of money into, CIA man, bush to win. but bush lost to reagan. a scarce few months after, reagan is shot in downtown d.c..and almost died in 1981. meanwhile, that same night of the shooting, one of barbara bush's sons was to meet up with one of hinckley's other sons for dinner, (assassin john hinckley jr's brother) but it was cancelled after the shooting.
john hinckley jr is in his early 60s right now, today, and OUTTA incarceration. how many other presidential assassins are out of incarceration DESPITE shooting a president, and his pres secretary, james brady rendering him to a wheelchair and ultimately it's on brady's death certificate that the 1981 shooting was the result of brady's death in 2014. isn't it interesting that this attempt on reagan's life happened so early in reagan's presidency...that IF someone like bush sr. wanted reagan dead, he sure picked a great time to do it: at the beginning of reagan's term, so if the assassination was successful, bush sr. would enjoy a full term. also, a few others were effected by those gunshots that day, who are still alive and still have bullet fragments in them and were NOT warned that hinckley would be released outta incarceration and they were not happy about it. if you ask me, bush sr. had something to do with it.
how many other presidential assassins are outta formal incarceration? sirhan sirhan is still incarcerated tho rfk was not even a president and rfk's dead. wow. how is it that hinckley injured MORE people during that one shooting in 1981, injuring 5 people, yet he's outta incarceration AND in his early 60s? c'mon.
wasn't barbara bush's grown son, neil bush involved in the savings and loans scandals of the 80s? what was his punishment for that?
and barbara bush's other grown son, marvin was on the board of directors of a company that was in charge of security at The World Trade Center during 9/11/01.
meanwhile barbara bush's other grown son, george was president during 9/11/01 where we lost over 3,000 americans from a terror attack even though a memo clearly stated that bin laden was planning an attack. why not re-secure the world trade center, where george's brother and barbara's son is on the board for their security especially since bin laden hit the wtc in '93? then her other grown son, jeb, the former governor of florida is caught up in the florida recount during bush v. gore and the election of 2000.
barbara bush's maiden name is pierce. she's related to our 14th president pierce. how can one lady attached to the white house through relatives, as a wife and a mother at the same time be indirectly so hurtful to our nation? she's the matriarch of this family.
this is the same tone-deaf barbara bush who publicly said the katrina evacuees in houston were better off than during pre-katrina in 2006. hurricane katrina, which was poorly handled by her grown son, george.
one woman, barbara bush had direct access to the white house for at least 20 years / a generation: 8 years during reagan, 4 years during bush sr, and 8 years during bush jr. and as a first lady with that much extraordinary direct access, what has she accomplished? what has she accomplished after she left the white house?
she just stands-by as her husband sexually assaults women left and right with his "copperfield/cop-a-feel" jokes. i have to laugh at some of yall saying her and bush sr have this great love story....

Fellas, this has nothing to do with SCs
I pay all my bills on time. They're not due until April 30. Today is the 12th. And I'm paying electronically.
I'm just choosing to pay $400 in bills this week and $400 in bills the next. I'd pay them altogether now but honestly I was pissed at the $400 water bill especially since it was due to visiting family staying over so I'm not paying everything at once as a selfish protest. Nothing will be paid late. My normal water bill is like $75. This was outrageous but it's an accurate bill.
I only asked because folks here seem good at money matters since we all P2P. But this has nothing to do with SCs which I'm on a break from now anyway until June. Current schedule is limiting me.
Hoping someone had insight like always knockout 2 bills first if you can then a single bill later or go for the single bill first since its higher, then the lower 2 bills later, etc.

lemme clarify real quick about 'cologne dude' ^^^^. it's really not cologne. imagine if someone liked a particular odd smell. like burnt toast because i don't wanna give the real thing away if he ever happens to find this. so this person rubs burnt toast heavily all over himself. so it isn't cologne. it's actually an odd smell that he happens to like, so he 'bathes' in it. everyday.

right, atacdawg, i just appreciate the distraction when there's either no dancer on stage or nothing to look at
the porn is usually something i wouldn't have picked out, but if i had a choice, i'd pick porn on the screen than sports since i can't hear the sports going on and sometimes the tv is too far away
i'm a little different. grew up with porno always going on in the background, so it doesn't bother me
