Hmmm? Dunno about that. It is -32C at camp right now with a wind chill of something like -45C. I just checked the High Arctic weather reporting stations.....temps in the high -30s and low -40s. One station reported wind chill of -55C.
I return to civilization tomorrow. Predicted temp in Calgary on Sunday?......a tropical -21C.
Sounds like I can wear shorts to the office.

So so year for me. My vacations with Toronto sweetie were far more $$$ than the total of my SC spending through the year.
One fun visit to a Toronto club. One weird visit to a Toronto club. Most noteworthy for me, in a bad way, was my first case of unsatisfied blue balls in a Vancouver club. My cash couldn't buy relief ITC, OTC.......just nuthin' that evening.

Yes, buy an F-150. Get a model with 4WD. Put good snow tires on the machine. If you do any driving on steep inclines get a set of chains. You will discover the delights of chaining up at a roadside pull-out in sub-zero weather. For further assurance have a heavy duty winch (complete with 100m of good cable) attached to the front end of the F-150. I recommend a fuel tank in the box. The weight of a full 500l tank helps with traction. I also have a fully equipped tool box in the box - more weight for traction.
Do all this and I think you could probably make it to the Flight Club worry free, even as you brave the wilds of Michigan Avenue.

8:35PM MST....-41C.....wind at 15kph from the northwest.....sunrise at 10:30 tomorrow morning.....5 hours of dim daylight then a return to darkness at 3:30PM....my back is killing me after unloading and stacking a load of walnuts this afternoon.

I am also annoyed how that lovely descriptive word, 'gay', has become a pejorative. My 1930s edition of OED makes no mention of sexuality when defining 'gay'.

Even though Lincoln's emancipation laws outlawed slavery in USA during the civil war, the importation of slaves from Africa to USA had been banned in 1808. Children born of slaves after that date became slaves, of course, and the trade of slaves between USA and other western hemisphere slave nations continued.
USA slave traders continued the slave trade in defiance of USA laws and in defiance of the Royal Navy which had been tasked by the British government with interdicting the Africa-North/South America slave trade. A robust adult bought for $25 in Africa could be sold by a slave trader for $500 in Brazil or for even more at an illegal auction in USA.
Some great American fortunes were made in this trade of human beings.

Slavery is a blight on American history, to be sure, but USA does not need to bear all the guilt for this wicked institution. Slavery existed in Europe before the European colonization of North America. The Portuguese started importing slaves from Africa in the mid-1400s, extending the slave trade to Brazil as they colonized South America. To a lesser extent than the Portuguese, the Spanish and some northern European nations also involved themselves in the slave trade.
More than 40% of all slaves brought to the western hemisphere from Africa went to Brazil. Brazil did not abolish slavery until 1888. The slave labour was used on the massive coffee plantations in Brazil. At the end of the Civil War some 10,000 southerners moved to Brazil to continue the lifestyle of slave ownership.

I understand well the word, cajun. Cajun is a corruption of the French word, Acadien. An 'Acadien' is a resident of L'Acadie, the French speaking areas of Canada's Maritime provinces (primarily New Brunswick and Nova Scotia). Les Acadiens who were expelled from Canada after the British defeat of the French on the Plains of Abraham refused to swear allegiance to the crown. The expulsion was a handy way for the Brits to rid themselves of disaffected new subjects. The expulsion also freed up much land for the Brits to grant to loyalists as a reward for their loyalty.

My driver's licence is absolutely crucial to me. I came close to losing it a few years ago over my fascination with speed. Age has finally reigned in that fatal fascination, I think.
If I am drinking in a club I will be walking to my hotel or taking a taxi. One Alberta club that I frequent has a courtesy van (no limo for this joint) to shuttle its drunk customers to nearby hotels/motels.

I'm worth considerably less money than I was worth three years ago. I have a large portion of my net worth tied up in non-income producing assets. It is far from a sure thing that I will see any income from those assets before I die.
As for sweetie; she is a big girl. She had been at her game for many years before I met her. I am a big boy. My industry demands ultra security consciousness. I earned my stones long ago.

That has been a very popular video since it was made public last summer. The scene with the Mama grizzly and her cubs is dangerously cute. However, I can tell you from first hand experience from about 35 years ago that mama grizzlies are most definitively NOT cute when viewed at close range. I was lucky to escape undamaged from an enraged grizzly sow that I had unwittingly disturbed while working north west of Rocky Mountain House. The beast had actually broken a window on my tracked vehicle to get at me before I got the machine moving to escape her.
I was so scared that I COULDN'T shit my pants.
