Has wherever your at improved or declined in your lifetime?
“Now, we are a large LA suburb” — Interesting you mention that. A few years ago when I took the Grand Canyon bus tour from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon we passed through Kingman, Arizona and the driver mentioned it’s become almost a suburb to Los Angeles (and to Phoenix and Las Vegas) LA must be a miserable city (with terrible schools) if people are willing to live in LA and commute almost 5 hours every weekend to go back home to the family

Has wherever your at improved or declined in your lifetime?
Pretty obvious - but smart cell phones have probably had the biggest impact on everyone’s daily lives. They revolutionized our lives on how we eat, shop, manage our healthcare, etc. in ways not many ever predicted. And they are pretty much a necessity no matter how poor or rich you are. Sometimes I think the assumption that everyone has a smart phone is unfair because one needs a phone in almost everything you do. I, like many others, can’t even log in to a work computer now without a phone

    blahblahblah23 posted $300 is not a whale
So what’s the question? If you’re asking if spending $300 makes one a whale then the answer is no - not even close. $300 wouldn’t even be 30 minutes in a VIP room at many places The hierarchy of strip club customers: Whale Balla Big Spender Good customer Mr Average Cheap ass (everyone else)

Safety features in cars have improved while the quality of the drivers has gotten exponentially worse. People drive too fast, won’t stay off their phones, run red lights, have no clue how to properly merge. In general, just plain rude

How Much Have You Spent (Wasted)?
I am 40+ years of clubbing so I’m pretty sure I’ve topped a quarter of a million. But as was pointed out that’s “only” $500 to $600 per month. Lots of people easily spend that on clothes, an endless string of new cars, country club memberships, or travel. I guess it only seems “wasteful” to outsiders who don’t understand the fun and thrill of it. My spending hasn’t been consistent though. Over the years I had $5000 splurge months followed by no clubbing for a period of time

    Adults that watch anime
I have never watched anime. I had to look it up on Wikipedia - I knew it was animation but thought it was the cartoon porn i see advertised on porn hub. I’ve never seen a Marvel movie, nor have I’ve watched Harry Potter, Twilight or Lord of the Rings. The only Star Wars movie I watched was the first one around 1977. Didn’t like it. But then I watched hole to hole coverage of the US Women’s Open at Pebble Beach. So not sure where I fit on the spectrum of normalcy.

Makes me wonder too if the rise of onlyfans and Twitter influencers like Olivia Dunne who makes millions just for bikini pics has led dancers to believe they expect cash for doing nothing other than looking pretty

Will Joe Biden be the Democratic nominee in '24? Does Trump take GOP?
Meanwhile, no suspect has been named in the Willowbrook (Chicago) Juneteenth shooting even though there is video evidence of the shooter and the vehicle and hundreds of witnesses. No mention ever of the race of the shooter - so he’s not white I only mention this because there were numerous Facebook posts saying “it was a white suprematist” - and no repercussions for spreading inflammatory rumors

“They were one of the first of a long line of blah OK bands with faceless, nameless members” As soon as I saw this thread, I had the same thought. Kansas, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Scorpions - all were ok, had a few hits, but nothing spectacular

    Boston
The debut album “Boston” came out the summer heading into my senior year in high school. It was the album everyone was talking about. Has to be one of the fast selling debut albums in US History. It was an interesting time in music. The hard rock metal bands - Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath - were still trying to hang on as a popular genre but they were in a dogfight with music heading in a soft pop direction. Olivia Newton-John, Debbie Boone, Barry Manilow, John Denver. But you also had some funk bands of the 70’s and the emergence of disco. And love them or hate them, you had KISS, which in the Midwest at least, was the most popular band of them all Real interesting, diversified era. Unlike today.

Will Joe Biden be the Democratic nominee in '24? Does Trump take GOP?
If there was ever a case against affirmative action, it would Kamala Harris. Affirmative action inspires mediocrity, lower standards and sets unqualified people up for failure. Exactly what we are seeing from the performance by Harris.

I’m not much of a follower of politics. Do not know this Vivek chap. But I do feel a real sense of anti-woke backlash so bad f Biden stands for all that is woke, he’s probably in deep trouble

^^ all you do is post endlessly about past atrocities but never suggest a path forward. If you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem. And if the US is so bad, there are about 194 other countries to choose from. Or is it perhaps the US is still one of the better options?

^^ in the past 40 years or so I’ve had to use the laundromat a couple of times. Once when my washer broke down on a weekend and needed to do laundry before a new was delivered the next week. And last year when I moved I went once before my new W&D Was installed. Spending a view hours in a laundromat can really put things in perspective. You don’t know how lucky you are until you see a single mom struggle to carry in multiple loads - often with a baby in one hand and a string of kids from 4-14 with her. And you see every container imaginable. Laundry baskets, suitcases, plastic storage totes, trash bags.
