A dancer may or may not remember you after one visit. After the second visit, she will likely seek you out the next time you're in the club. After the third visit, she will likely consider you a regular. If DFK is gonna happen, it should happen by then.
You may be able to speed up the process if you have time for an extended stay, by breaking up your dances. Get some dances, take a break, chat, have a drink, etc., then get some more dances, rinse, repeat, maybe ending up with a VIP.
Just my random thoughts.

With a dancer that's new to you, generally the first dance is more of a feeling each other out (figuratively and literally) and getting a good rapport going. As you get more comfortable with each other, the follow-on dances should get better.

LOL. Probably the typical dancer reaction to any PL trying to use SJG's system. Either that, or "SECURITY!" lol
Don't know about getting fired, but depending on how strict the club is, she might get fined, or at the very least, yelled at by a manager/bouncer.

And I think the more successful strippers are pretty good at picking up on what customers like and adapting accordingly.

Same for me, and if a dancer picks up on this, she will get more dances from me and likely become a fav.
So some self-selection/sorting is going on with customers and dancers.

@ Paul Drake - I do this all the time, and not just in the lap dance room. I'll gently touch/stroke a dancer's neck, shoulders, ears, face, & hair while sitting with her on the main floor, never had a issue. Some dancers tell me it's very relaxing, but they also say I have really soft hands. (Maybe you have rough hands from all that gumshoeing you do?)
I can only really think of one time a dancer pushed my hand away from her neck - maybe she thought I was trying to choke her?

I would expect her to remember me by sight, and to come over when I came in. I think dancers meet so many customers over a week's time, I wouldn't expect her to remember my name, but it would be a nice touch if she did.

I'll echo what Papi and Subraman said about making your interest known when she goes on stage.
At my local club there are several dancers that I don't get dances from, but they will still come and sit with me when I'm there. They say they enjoy talking to me* and know I'll buy them drinks and maybe slip them some cash for their time if they stay awhile. Really it's just another form of taking a break. If another customer expresses interest during her stage set, she'll come by my table, excuse herself, and go to him.
*I used to think it was because I'm so charming, but know I find out I'm just club furniture, lol
