Time to Compliment a Dancer's Review!
Really did a great job of painting a picture, especially when she compared it to other places. Good Reviews, good pictures.....there's gotta be a catch

TUSCL, Life, and Manners!
Troop. Thank you for a clear explanation. I don't blame you for taking the comments seriously as I would do so myself were my mother impugned. I had read the ongoing stuff and I had felt that the slur was in incredibly bad taste, but probably not meant as a true slander (In other words a poorly phrased dig that has no bearing in reality). When I find myself in such situations, I first spend some time cooling off (Never hate your enemy, it clouds your thinking-M. Corleone) and then think it through: Is it worth retaliating - usually for me, "no" and that is because when I do retaliate it is not simple, pleasant, nor without risk to all parties. Innocents can be hurt. I consider the source: is (s)he worth the time taken to respond or is it pearls before swine and a waste of the most precious thing I've got - time. Just a few thoughts. Again, thanks for the clear statement. Rl

Pimps
I spent a lot of time in Newark, NJ in the 60s and 70s. They were certainly real then and I suspect they still are. They, with rare exception, were seen as the lowest kind of creature and the word "pimp" meant many things, none of them pleasant. They usually stepped in and debased the least experienced and unworldly. They are probably the best reason for legalizing prostitution as that would put most of them out of business.

Dancers who rat on their co workers.
To clarify - I agree that whistle blowers are an entirely different thing than rats. But rats often bring other than the truth to light. Also the rat usually doesn't own up to the role nor do they confront their target directly - that's the dishonest part.

The truth about life as a lap-dancer
This is her view of the business. She's right as long as she's talking about herself. Other women see it differently Avalon said it best: "In terms of the depiction of strippers or entertainers in culture in mainstream entertainment, my take on it is this. It really is simple; men are simple creatures they are visual they come to be entertained and aroused..... The truth of the matter is this, these establishments are all about fantasy and provide erotic entertainment. We are the females WHO provide that entertainment. ... DEAL with it!"

Rats, regardless of profession or circumstance, are dishonest. That says enough for me.

WORST THING A STRIPPER EVER TOLD YOU
Had a dancer start and then pause and start talking about problems at home. Tears started, she dismounted and spent the rest of the song talking about her problems. When the song ended, she asked if I'd like another dance (Not - let's go to a table and talk, or what can you do to help, just anoher $25 encounter)

Sober Monday Reflections: Should Drunk Guys Have to Pay Their Stripper Bills?
If the guy was obviously three sheets to the wind and in no shape to commit to anything more than detoxification, he might stand a chance of reducing his debt based on the predatory and irresponsible behavior of the club. Particularly if they scored big and then let the guy stagger out the door with no thought of how he was getting home. There's a ton of case law about responsibility of clubs that encourage drinking to excess. That said, I would hope that the case would result in some pain to the drinker - personal responsibility is more than just some hoary precept, it's a mainstay of one's individuality.

Dancers who can't dance and dancers who ask or demand tips after bad dances
Some years ago, I went to club in Washington DC. It had 3 small stages, each with a dancer who was rotating at 2 songs per stage through all three stages and then off to develop customers, take a break, etc. I was at stage # 3 and the dancer from #1, while tranferring to #2 went through the entire audience expecting a $ 1.00 tip because "She had finished at her stage". When I explained that because of space, my back had been toward her stage, and I saw nothing of her performance, she became visibly upset and started in on me as a cheap unappreciative etcetcetc. So I told her that I would tip her very well when she came and performed at my stage. She went to #2 and was finishing up her stint there when I left the club (of course)
