Typical viewpoint of a female investigative journalist?Wow! As a woman, I am SOOOOO glad that the author of that story told me absolutely nothing about why other women go to clubs. Instead she only share HER slant an thoughts. She has no idea why I go to the clubs with my husband. This article is exactly what is wrong with journalism on all fronts. Where is the objective reporting, the stating of facts to allow the reader to make their own decision on how they feel or believe about a topic? Now, I understand this is an opinion piece but that should be clearly stated and not set up as a scientific soap box for one woman.
As a fellow woman, I am sorry that society and her personal relationships have so warped her that she cannot appreciate other women who are attractive. Even outside of a club, I have no problem recognizing and acknowledging that other women are attractive. In fact, I regularly comment on it. From her word choices and assessments, I personally believe she has trouble with acknowledging sexuality in any form.
I wonder if any female writer really would consider that some women (and men) elect to go to clubs because of the sexually charged atmosphere. That is certainly part of it for us. In this particular place one does not need to hide or squelch their sexuality but is encouraged to embrace it and relish it. There is no "brown wrapping paper cover" or facade on what the draw in the club is. THAT is part of why I go. "You want to think about sex every few minute? GOOD! You're supposed to!"
I go because I like to see how the dancers move a paricular way or do something that I might not have thought of. I like to see how my husband (and the other male customers) reacts when a dancer moves a particular way or to get an idea of what else I could try that he might find sexy.
I go because I appreciate and understand that a GOOD pole dancer is incredibly strong and practices a lot. I recognize and appreciate the work that goes into staying on top of one's game and coming up with new and different pole trick combinations to set one apart from other dancers. It's part of marketing. Just like a gimmick or costume choice.
I go because I was curious as to how I looked compared to other women. Unlike boys in the shower room at gym, girls (at least when I was of that age0 don't get to see what other women look like outside of breast size. My husband cracked up laughing the first time I went and got a flash of pussy because I said, "You mean they all look different?" which of course turned into a discussion of how they felt different or the same. I had a huge curiosity of how smaller breasts felt because I had always been amply endowed. It's ok to look or even ask to touch there.
I go because I like buying and wearing outfits that are too revealing for mainstream dinner and a movie nights. I like wearing them because they play up my best feature and downplay my not-so-great ones. I like going because I like seeing my husband watching a dancer and then catch him looking at me or saying, "She's pretty but you have better tits." (To which I usually point out that her ass is much better.....LOL)
I go because I like the rush of compliments and looks I get when I go. My husband says he likes to go because we gets jealous looks of "DAMN! Lucky sucker. He's here with his wife!" looks. The first time I ever went to a club at all a complete stranger at a table next to us bought a table dance for me. I had no clue what to expect but both he and my husband seemed to enjoy it so that made it fun for me. I've also made restroom trips only to be stopped on the way back to the table and asked if I was "with" the guy I was sitting with. HUGE ego boost for an almost 50 year old woman.
I can't abide people who presume to KNOW why someone else does something or how they think or feel. People who are supposed to be JOURNALISTS are the worst because they are supposed to know and undertand that personal agendas and slanting have no place in real reporting or journalism. If I want to know what someone thinks or how they feel or why they did something, I will ask. Damn I am tired of the media, in any form, thinking they get to tell me how I should feel about anything!
Sorry....coming down off my soapbox for a while now......

Favorite time of the yearLOL So once again we are about to break the stereotype mold. This is mrs m00tpoint and I adore football. Screw the cheerleaders! Even when we are at the games live, they are nothing but annoying. Interferes with the action of the game. Can't imagine watching the games in a club. It would interrupt the games too much for my taste.
Fall, on the other hand, is a favorite in this household. Even the fact that it means winter is coming is not a negative for me. Nice to sit at home and snuggle on the sofa or put the Liberator mat on the floor in front of the fire......

Our president bowed to the Emperor of Japan! If you don't like things, it is far more effective to go to the poles than to post in a discussion thread. We got exactly what the US citizens voted into office. Yes, some of us, myself included, did not vote for Obama. However, how many people bitching really did their job as US citizens and took time to educate themselves on the candidates before voting? Or did most of them just buy what the media was telling them? I can't stand those who bitch but are mot willing to put in the time and effort to dig for themselves to find out what the real scoop is on candidates. If you are counting on the media to do it for you, you will always be misled. The media started having its own agenda years and years ago.

How to know if a dancer will be any good in vip room?We have NEVER, even in the restricted "no touching" clubs had anyone say anything to us about a man touching his female partner during dances. In fact, one dancer at a no touch club, specifically told us that any touching between the two of us was not "management's concern" but that the action would be limited to one way from dancer to male and limited two way from female to female. We have always found that most dancers have different couple rules.
I am starting to get worried here because it is becoming frequent, but I agree with GMD. :-) ASK. Share whatever rules you have as a couple with her and ask what rules she has. We have never had anyone refuse to answer and we have gotten the best case scenario, "We can do whatever each of us wants to do" more than a handful of times. In most of our cases, the female has pretty much been able to do whatever she wants to do.

Lions Now 4-0!!!Good grief! Lions fans are of two varieties: 1) The ones who have already started the Super Bowl express shit and 2) The ones who are waiting for the apocalypse. They haven't had anything to cheer about in that city for so long who can blame either of 'em?
On the other hand, perhaps the worst team in the league right now may be the MN Vikings.

New OrleansAbsolutely, without a doubt the best ladies category goes to the Penthouse Club. Be prepared to drop a major wad of cash there though. Drinks are $7 for a domestic beer to $15 for a cocktail. You can at least get a free pass from their website for admission.
It was difficult to get private dances when we were there because of the Sugar Bowl idiots so we can't share that info. Dances are arranged by speaking with a bouncer or the bartender. (It took us a while to figure that out as it was one of the first clubs we ever visited.)
We have been to several clubs in several areas now and I can tell you that the most phenominal looking women at ANY club we have ever visited were at the Penthouse in NOLA. And I am not just talking one or two or a few. You would be hard-pressed to find any in the club that were not at least an 8 and most 9 or 10's.

Average Dance PricesChicago area offers $10 table-side dances at most clubs. These are topless dances with limited one-way touching. All legitimate clubs in the area offer at least two more levels of dances in the back. The rates vary from $20 with only one way touching (The Factory, Club 390,Club O) to $30 in a curtained semi-private loveseat with heavy two-way touching at Club O in the Flame Room. Most clubs also then offer "Champagne" or "VIP" rooms at higher prices. ($150-300 per 30 min. depending on club)

Why does one need to be a V.I.P. member to flag a review?Being a member is not time-consuming or difficult so I really don't know why this would be an issue.

Whats the best compliment you've given a dancer?Any sincere comment from mrs m00tpoint. Most women do not compliment their friends and are sure not about to compliment a stripper. So, when my wife does it, they really pay attention. She also makes sure to look them in the eye and respond when they say thank you. I can't tell you the times she gives a compliment and then goes to the ladies room and the table is rushed to "learn more about her."

Hiding the $$I pick up the cash at the ATM or bank, send my hubby a text message and tell him what station I will pick him up and away we go.....I hate that married men lie to their wives (even if it is a lie by omission) so I would NEVER put my hubby in that situation.

Do you spend more if the individual dances cost less?We go with a budget. Regardless of the pricing of the dances, we do not go over our budget. There was one dancer who tempted us but we were not in agreement that we should extend the budget. In retrospect, my wife was the one who wanted to raise the budget limit to include the champagne room which we had not done at that time, I now wonder if we should have as it would have been a different experience than when we did decide to go on a future visit with another dancer.

9/11 revisited.I go into the office late thinking that I was having a really crappy day because I had a flat tire on the way to work. As I walked in to get a cup of coffee I saw the replay of the first plane hitting the tower. As I stood there and watched, the second tower was struck. Within minutes my wife called me. She remembered what I was supposed to be doing that day - which I spaced given the flat tire and the news. Two weeks before I had interviewed for a new job and was waiting for them to fly me to NYC to interview with their big wigs. The original plan was that I was to be in the air that day but had never been finalized. That company office was in one of the Twin Towers and ceased to exist after 9/11.

Off Topic- I'm doomed, would really appreciate some advice.Depends on the car whether $2000 to fix is a good deal. A Lexus for instance runs for 250,000 - 300,000 miles regularly with standard maintenance. So even on an older one you are money ahead in the long run. (And no that is not pie in the sky numbers. We have had two that went that long - out of two - and know someone else who has had 5 that went that long. Passed em down to each kid as he got a newer one.) $2000 on Kia or GM is just stupid.

Off Topic- I'm doomed, would really appreciate some advice.Dude, if $2000 for a car repair (or other emergency) causes this kind of stress, then stay out of the clubs for good or at least until you get a nest egg built up. You might still be in college but you are plenty old enough to learn that lesson.

Best lapdance clothing? We will be in the minority but we totally disagree with the "no one cares what you wear" comments. We certainly care what we wear and often judge a new club and the quality of the clientel by how they are dressed as well as how they act. If the club is marginal but the clientel respectful and well-dressed we will often give it another chance or two.
Dress slacks are very thin (Dockers are not dress pants) and look nice. A shirt with a colar in needed in any CLUB in our area so we would never consider going to a night/strip club in anything less. A neighborhood bar with a pole is a different matter and we might wear slightly less dressy clothing there. Or we might not. We would always rather be over-dressed than under-dressed.
I believe MOST strippers will also tell you they do judge a potential customer by how he/she is dressed. Better dress = better tipper in their minds usually.
