What pisses me off are how many strip clubs have ATM’s that are capped at $200 per transaction/swipe. I would guess half are set at this amount. Years into inflation, I am seeing a lot of strip clubs charging $50, $40, or 3/$100 private dances. So basically, you may only be able to get four to six private dances per swipe at the ATM. A thirty minute VIP room at most clubs will require at least two swipes. Strip clubs need to start employing ATM’s with higher withdrawal limits or bring down the price of private dances and VIP rooms.

There is another reminiscence I should have included in the original post while talking about a career on the road: One day I was a hero. A speeding car blew out a tire on the interstate, and then lost control and drove head-on into a light pole. The vehicle caught on fire. I was nearby in a hotel parking lot getting ready to head over to the work site. I jumped the chain-link fence onto Interstate 40. I spat on my bandanna, tied it over my mouth and pulled the driver out of the burning car, while a Mexican guy pulled a teenager out of the front passenger seat. The car ignited fast and there was thick smoke everywhere. We dragged the car crash victims up the shoulder to safety and an ambulance arrived in short order. The sad part was the twenty onlookers who stopped only to photograph and/or post the accident on social media. I didn’t talk to the authorities and left in short order because I was going to be late for work. The next day, I read a blurb in the local newspaper about the car wreck. One of the occupants was in critical condition at the local hospital. Interviewed eyewitnesses described a green brontosaurus running onto Interstate 40 and moments later emerging from the billowing smoke with the driver of the car. No one knew who he was or had a chance to speak to him as he had disappeared from the scene almost as quickly as he appeared.

The novelty of Hurley is that there are seven strip clubs on one block in a tiny town. As DandyDan alluded, Ironwood across the border was an iron mining town up until the 1960's. The first block over the border into Wisconsin was the red light district for the miners, since the mines in Ironwood didn't want vices on their side of the border. Each of the current strip club buildings were set up like this: the first floor was a bar, the second floor was a brothel where the prostitutes also lodged, and the basement or backroom was a gambling hall. I think I read prostitution carried on until the 1940's in Hurley. Prohibition was completely ignored there. All of the strip clubs in Hurley are pretty bad. I have seen some of the fattest and oldest dancers in my career there. The only time it might be worth going is during skiing/snowmobile season. That is when the most partiers are up there. You might get some better-looking traveling dancers coming through for a month or two. Revenue isn't good the rest of the year, and these clubs struggle to attract quality talent. A couple of the seven clubs will completely close for the months outside of winter. I should also mention there is no touching allowed at any of the Hurley strip clubs and tip walks are routine. My buddy, Bareback, did manage to pull a dancer for OTC years ago. He took her back to the cabin on the back of his snowmobile and barebacked her.

I think nowadays there are large amounts of people with ADHD and social anxiety. They can't concentrate for twenty seconds. They don't know how to effectively communicate and build relationships with others. It is more prevalent among the younger generations, but I've seen it in plenty of the later Boomers as well. Hooters have been slowly closing locations over the last decade or so. Two-thirds of the Hooters girls at my local location are below a 7 in looks. They will hire anybody nowadays. Soon the DEI crowd will force us to accept male Hooters servers. Only the Hooters in Florida, like Tampa and Clearwater, seem to be chock full of hotties. Tilted Kilt used to have at least six or seven locations in my metro area. Now, there is only one left hanging on. Twin Peaks was the new name in breasturants for the last ten or fifteen years. Now, they seem to have hit the wall too. One in my metro area recently closed down. I can see a breastaurant being fun if the servers are actually all 7+ (not likely nowadays), but the overall trend is they are hurting and closing locations like many other restaurant chains.
