My two favorites have been pinging me this week as well. Fortunately, it's only the two of them, and with one of them, we meet at her place, so I at least don't have that expense for one of them. @motorhead, I've always thought remaking horrible movies from the past would be a really good idea, if they could be could be done well.
And in the two cases you bring up, they <em>have</em> been re-done pretty well. Assuming the second half of the new Dune is as good as the first, anyway.
Rocky Horror Picture Show. The first time I watched that was 1982, I think. Maybe 83. So bad it was fun. Mostly because of Time Curry, of course.

There's nothing "noble" about it when I do it. I'd like to think that it's innate perspicacity that has allowed the practice of helping periodically to pay dividends down the road more often than not, but it's probably just luck.
A few bucks, a ride, helping balance a checkbook, food for her kids, or any of a countless number of other small favors has been worth it for me. And not always directly. A couple of times, doing a favor some someone <em>else</em> has paid off as well.
