I avoid weekends. Way I see it that's when the drunks and idiots are at their worst. I prefer to go during the week for because ther are less customers. That being said if I had an experience like the OPs I probably would change it up

Last time I was at a club I wore a nice button down shirt and khakis and had no problems. To be honest I was better dressed then anyone at the club, well except for the dancers.
For extras, depending where you are it is very possible the dancer will just ask you. I had it happen on my second visit to a strip club (didn't know such things were possible). Also check the Top Ten Destinations on the home page as those cities are known for extras (at least based on what I've been led to believe)

I posted an article on this but I'll summarize it here. Couldn't believe it. This drop dead gorgeous latina sits on my lap and asks me for a dance; I stutter out an ok. We get to the semi private dance area and she takes it all off (at the time I didn't know this was legal and had never seen a naked woman before in person). I usually try to visit the strip club every 2-3 months since mainly as a method to unwind after a particularly shitty week.

I remember my geography professor who studied social trends made a comment that America is always 50 years behind Europe socially. Seeing as how prostitution is slowly becoming a legal profession across Europe there is hope that sooner or later (and I hope its sooner) prostitution will be legal in all 50 states.
