@Ronjax:
You are correctly informed, they won't go in the room unless you ask. What TJWalker said isn't strictly true -- they are cleaning the rooms of people who have checked out and they won't bug you unless there's been a snafu downstairs about your check-out (which is why you save that receipt they give you when you pay the deposit on the room because it clearlyhas the length of your stay on it).
You can and should ask for extra sheets and towels to have them ready when you bring a girl upstairs because it can take some time to get them when you're on the clock with her. Just track down one of the housekeepers in the hallways and ask for them, and be ready to tip them a buck or two for the service. Spanish for towels is toallas ("toe-ah-yas") and sheets are sabanas ("sah-ban-ahs"). Because they don't ordinarily go into your room, it's customary to put used sheets & towels in the hall just outside your door to be picked up (like you would with a room service tray). I usually hang on to one or two used towels to use as bath mats because they don't have those.

'Gracias' is all you need for the girl, and 'no' for the mesero. They get it.
No need to tip unless you want to. She isn't expecting one but may ask for one because it doesn't hurt to try.

The going rate is the going rate, for better or worse. Don't mean to be mean about this, but you can talk all you want about organizing a protest about it and the net effect will be zero. The people on this website represent a tiny fraction of the overall clientele, and none of us have any real clout with the management. About the only thing you can do is be patient in the bars and go upstairs with the BGs that you truly click with. If you spend all your time bargain hunting, you're probably not going to have anywhere near as much fun.

No, nothing cheap. Take at least a few hundred with you and take advantage of the search capability on this website to find the many articles on Tijuana here that you can read for more details.

All good advice above. There are more articles available, just click on the search link on the menu here. Overall, you should also be checking out sources outside of this website. Employ a little common sense here. You're going to a different country with different rules than you're used to.
As far as getting a VIP card goes, it costs $60 and it gives you 20% off during the week (70% on Mon/Tue). If the discount doesn't save you enough to cover the cost of the card, why bother? Having your own condoms & lube is a good idea, just keep in mind that these things can be got easily once you're there. I would add some nice body wash and a couple of cheap washcloths to the shopping list, but that's just me.
Final bit of advice: Pace yourself. Grab a shower and clean up when you get there and when you hit the clubs, take some time to take it all in before you dive into the chicas. Don't get stupid drunk because it could cost you dearly. The Zona Norte is pretty safe if you stick to the area around the major clubs but that won't keep you from being a victim if you don't pay attention to what's going on around you.
I'm going to be there mon-wed of next week but I'll be spending a lot of that time visiting with friends.

Similar to Warrior15 & doctorevil... the only thing I won't share besides stuff like my full name/address/phone number is how much money I have on me. The rest of it is WYSIWYG as I'm old enough to not care what others think of me. Best part of becoming an old fart, IMO. :)
No difference for me between being in a club for the first time and the hundredth.

Everything you negotiate is with the girl, so there is no single answer to this. When she quotes you a price, always, always ask what the includes before you go upstairs. Some will do extra stuff and some won't, and most will upcharge you for the extra stuff. As a newbie you'll have a harder time driving a bargain once you're in the room and they know this.

Roaming the USA
Fri/Sat before about 9pm is usually tolerable, but after that You'll spend most of your time pushing through the crowd. Sometimes Chavelas is relatively empty so it may be possible to find a girl and take her over to that side to sit down for a ficha. I don't know if it's changed, but the last time I was there most people trying to get in would line up at the HK doors, not knowing that the Chavelas doors get you into the same damn place now.
It still might be worth a trip because I've heard that Chicago has uppped its talent on the weekends but it can occasionally be just as crowded there.
If you're looking at early-mid December for this, keep in mind the World Cup will still be on. Every bar in Mexico will probably be crazy busy on game days. :)

I've had the card issue in different places, mostly in the US though. Not sure which bank you were looking for, but if you're concerned about the route then take a cab to one of the banks on Revolucion during the day. That's the main tourist drag and pretty safe. You can also do an advance with a teller if you don't mind the wait. Probably holds true at the casino by the border, too.

Let's just say it's not uncommon outside the ZN, at least on the part of the police (getting stopped by Federales is uncommon, though). In or out of the ZN it's pretty rare unless you're visibly impaired, acting like a jackass, or talking up the wrong people on the street.
As for whether the best days of the ZN are behind us, these things go in cycles. I don't think anyone on this forum is plugged into the street scene enough there to know for sure. It's definitely a time to be a lot more careful than usual right now.

Good to hear you had fun, and hope the cartel nastiness settles down before you go back.
Google Translate lets you download the Spanish dictionary to your phone. You should do that ahead of time before your next trip and then you don't need to worry about your cell signal.
As far as GFE goes, you should budget some extra money just for fichas and see how well you click with the girl before going upstairs. It's still the best way to see if the two of you have that kind of chemistry.

I wouldn't assume that it's all over... the locals are going back to business as usual because they don't have a choice. If you're going to go down there right now, you should keep a steady eye on the local news. The fact that we're not targets doesn't mean we can't get caught in the crossfire.
The bad times in Juarez around 15 years ago lasted for years, and plenty of civvies got caught in it.
Be extra careful if you're going: catch up on the San Diego news, the Tijuana news, and any statements from the State Department before you go. Know the phone number and address of the Consulate office in TJ. Stay in touch with someone back home via text/email while you're there.

Didn't mean to give offense, if it was taken that way. Outside of the first remark, the rest was meant generically. On that first point, I think of the ZN in terms of clubbing, because aside from the SGs the action is tied to the venues there. The hotter BGs are only there because the clubs bring them there, so their rules govern what can happen on their turf. If longer sessions were the norm, you wouldn't ever see the hot ones in the club. I'd rather see things stay the way they are TBH... I don't want to stay at the other club hotels nearby to avoid the issues because those hotels suck.
There's nothing at all wrong with shopping at HK for longer sessions at Ticuan (nice, isn't it?) and ultimately that's about all we should expect. Treat longer sessions with no knock in Cascadas as a bonus and move on.
On the subject of a meet-up, check your messages.

@PutaTester:
I think you're kinda blurring the line between clubbing and mongering here. The clubs are (and really always have been) set up for quickies with the BGs. Having a longer time session with the girl is really something you negotiate with the girl and I think the recent moves by HK are just staking out their turf (HK, TB, Cascadas, and Rizo) so there's no point in complaining about it IMO. They're not going to change as long as they're making bank on it.
This expectation that you *should* be getting 1+ hour sessions whenever you want them is a relatively new thing for the ZN. They aren't going to change a successful business model just because you want them to. :)

Right. Just couches. Another potential 'eew' thing to consider. Lol.
Last time I used a VIP was at CC... the girl I was with was a prodigious squirter and I had to make a beeline back to my room to shower and change after. Not having that option would have made for an awful time. You can try and convince yourself otherwise, but these rooms will make you smell like cooch and everybody knows it. YMMV, as they say.

The VIP rooms are not a secret -- they've been mentioned many times before, though not recently. They're a pricey option that might be worth it if you don't already have a room of your own or you're on a day trip. Each has a bathroom, yes, but no shower so if things get messy you will be literally wearing it back into the club. Fine if that's your thing, but eew. :)

An increasing number of reviews are just plain BS that someone has put together to get free VIP access. No point in critiquing them on the content because they just don't care. Same goes for the articles. If Founder were to go back to a paywall on the reviews you'd see the review quality go up.

Dude, you're going to have to turn in your Old Guy Badge at the next boy scout meeting. Get the generics because they aren't stamped and they look just like generic OG multivitamins. That way you can bring an empty vitamin bottle with you to TJ and return with a couple months' supply.

Lol... gotta admit it wasn't clear that it was a serious question. My routine for a while now is check in at Cascadas, take a walk to Farmacia Ahorra to pick up soap/condoms/lube, and on the way back hit OXXO for water and munchies. My nit to pick with Cascadas is that they don't provide washcloths, so I get a couple at a dollar store before making the trip and leave them there.

@curious_dude:
So this bugs you, but not enough to spend a couple of minutes on a Google search for an easy answer? :)
There are a few drug stores near the trolley station in San Diego, a few right by the taxi stand after crossing into TJ, and a couple that are a few blocks away from Cascadas. Take your pick; they all have body wash and shampoo.
