Soap in TJ

curious_dude
Just a dude who wants to know more about this stuff
Alright so I've been a few times now and my biggest problem is that good God the soap in hotel cascadas sucks. Call me weird but it's one of my creature comforts to have at least decent soap and shampoo but since I have to fly to San Diego I can't bring my own.

Where can you buy some half decent soap/shampoo near HK? I checked the oxxo nearby and I didn't see any.

I fly to San Diego when I go to TJ. I bring my own body wash. The duffle bag I bring, I do check that in at the airport. I guess you are attempting to carry on your luggage .

But the closest pharmacy is a 4 minute walk.

There are trial-sized shampoos and body washes you can bring in from the US. As long as they're 3 ounces or less, the TSA will allow you to store them in your carry-on bag.

@curious_dude:

So this bugs you, but not enough to spend a couple of minutes on a Google search for an easy answer? :)

There are a few drug stores near the trolley station in San Diego, a few right by the taxi stand after crossing into TJ, and a couple that are a few blocks away from Cascadas. Take your pick; they all have body wash and shampoo.

Or you can buy empty, travel size containers at Target, The Container Store, or any number of other places, and fill them up with your own shampoo. Or check your bag and bring as much as you want. I would think this post is trolling, except it’s too inane even for trolling.

If you do not have the curiosity, competence, and problem-solving ability to find soap and shampoo in Mexican-American norder city, then you certainly lack the intelligence and decision-making ability to travel internationally and visit brothels.

Do yourself and everyone else a favor and stay home.

Lol... gotta admit it wasn't clear that it was a serious question. My routine for a while now is check in at Cascadas, take a walk to Farmacia Ahorra to pick up soap/condoms/lube, and on the way back hit OXXO for water and munchies. My nit to pick with Cascadas is that they don't provide washcloths, so I get a couple at a dollar store before making the trip and leave them there.

Are you saying the hotel doesn’t provide soap and shampoo or that you don’t like what they do provide?

In my eight years of being in the hotels in Zona Norte I’ve noticed that they change suppliers occasionally… personally I have had no problem with the soap or shampoo. but I have had a problem recently with ONE robe guy… timing how long I keep a girl in the room.

Thanks Jascoi for that info.

There are a lot of very argumentative and belligerent people posting on TUSCL.

First off, there are PLENTY of pharmacies and stores in TJ. EVERY street just about. Second, I think the airlines have relaxed on these things. I bring a toiletries bag every flight. I don't check baggage, only bring my backpack which has that toiletries bag in it. Some things you may think I cant bring that it has in it : shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, hard soap, nail clippers, tweezers, and cologne among other things. Never had an issue. I also bring snacks, occasionally opened, in my backpack. Only thing through security that has not made it through are bottles of water (bring empty bottle or a tumbler). I hear you can bring frozen bottles of water though (the chemicals they look for through security wont freeze) but I haven't tried that yet as my flights are only 45 min from Phoenix to San Deigo. I will be starting a new job at the airport in a week, and I can report back if needed but I think you're in the clear as I've gone 10x in a year and half with no issues.
