Question for old timers
I actually don't think clubs have changed all that much and in fact there are still a lot of older clubs around that have changed very little if at all (like Mons Venus and Odyssey 2000 in Tampa - I visited both in the early 1970's and from the reviews it doesn't sound like either one has changed at all.) In fact the most remarkable thing to me is how little the industry has changed. Having said that, I can think of maybe 5 changes in the last 40 years or so that I have noticed: (1) lap dances have become a lot more common and higher mileage (that's probably the biggest change); (2) full nudity has become more common and more in your face; (3) High-end clubs have become less sleazy, more fancy, and more expensive, although there are still a lot of really sleazy places; (4) there a lot more clubs, especially outside of downtown areas in major cities, which is where most of them used to be concentrated; (5) extras are more widely available inside the club (they used to be mostly OTC or in the club parking lot.) If you want to know what most clubs were like in 1970, visit the Block in Baltimore. At one time nearly every city had a district like that, Baltimore's is the only one left to my knowledge. And it hasn't changed at all, except that extras are probably a little more readily available inside the club now.

Economics affecting strip clubs in your area now?
I haven't noticed any impact in my area. Stores and restaurants are just as crowded as ever, traffic is just as busy. Of course so far there hasn't been any national recession, just a slowing of growth, which hs little effect on most people. And probably the only reason anyone noticed is that it's an election year, and in election years the media always tries to spread discontent to help their friends. Similarly I haven't seen any evidence that anyone (other than the media) cares about higher gasoline prices - there's just as much traffic, which means people are driving just as much as ever, and nobody has slowed down to conserve gas. Which is pretty logical, since even at $4 a gallon, the cost of gasoline is still a pretty small part of the cost of driving for most people.

Sometimes the best looking girl isn't the "right" girl
Often the really good looking girls have the worst attitudes. I always look for late bloomers, girls who grew up average looking and then finally became attractive as they got older. They often have much better personalities. My ATF is one of those.

Horneytoad, just to add to my earlier thoughts - when I was doing a whole lot of clubbing and meeting a lot of different girls, I often kept notes so that I could remember things from one visit to the next, which made comversation easier. So I already had a lot of notes on things this girl had told me on previous visits, which made finding out more about her a whole lot easier. I stopped doing all that when I started hanging with my ATF. Conversation was so easy with her that I didn't need any notes.

Compliments? Do you feel good giving them and or receiving them or are they just
I like to give compliments too, but only when they're true. And like Ozy I try to say something different. I'll probably tell a girl I like her smile more often than anything else (and if she doesn't have a nice smile chances are she isn't likely to be with me for long.) Next would be eyes or hair.

How long with your ATF?
I've known my ATF for nearly 11 years. She quit dancing about 9 years ago and has since become my closest friend. She more or less adopted me as her family (she actually introduces my wife and I as her partents sometimes) because her own family is so screwed up.

Founder, it just did it to me again. I don't think it's the message function, I think if you appear to be inactive, eg. typing something long, you automatically get signed out of the site after about a half hour.

Founder, I've always had this problem here, ever since you introduced the message feature. Here's what sometimes happens - I sign in, start typing a message to someone, get interrupted for some reason, than when I go back to finish the message and send it, I'm told that I'm not signed in and I lose the message. Maybe I forgot to sign in initially, but if that's the case, how could I retrieve my messages? That shouldn't be possible.

What is the most unusual feature of a strip club that you have seen?
I think the most unusual club I've ever been in was a little rural club out in the middle of nowhere in western PA whose name I've forgotten. The "club" was actually an old barn. I went in the door and there was a small raised stage sorrounded by a few folding chairs and that was it. And the only other person in the room was the dancer. After a couple of minutes I was about ready to leave (she was kinda fat) when another dancer came out and took her place on stage, and this girl was drop-dead gorgeous, one of the most attractive dancers I've ever seen. When she finished dancing we went off to one side of the room for some truly great private dances. And that was it, I never saw another person the whole time I was there. No drinks were available (I guess you were supposed to bring your own), there was no one at the door (which took me a while to find, it was around back and it wasn't marked), and as I recall the girl played her own music on a portable CD player. It was really strange. But I had a great time for very little $$$ - definately my kind of place. Gotta love those little rural clubs.

What to do when the music is just too loud?
The main attraction of strip clubs for me has always been the opportunity to be able to sit and talk with a pretty scantily clad girl, without having to go thorugh the hassle that you'd have trying to do that in a normal bar (especially when you're 40+ years older than the girl.) If I can't do that in a strip club because the music is too loud, I leave and go somewhere else.

Hornytoad, in this particualr instance I just kept track of some of the things the girl told me about herself over many visits(about half of which turned out to be true) - girls tell you a lot more than they realize. And I knew the license plate number of her car, which is pretty easy to come by if you ever happen to see her arrive or leave the club. License plate number are pretty easy to trace (until farily recently they were public information in a lot of states) and lead to all sorts of other personal information. And once you have that information, you can easily track down other official documents like birth certificates, marriage licenses, etc. all of which have lots of other information and are a matter of public record. It's all surprisingly easy to do. The truth is that there's no such thing of privacy anymore in our society. If someone knows the license plate number of your car, for example, they can quickly and easitly put together your whole life story. I was amazed and a little frightened how easy it was to do. I'd never do it again.

Founder, the biggest prblem I have with this site is that whenever I take the time to post a long private message to someone I get timed out. When I go to send my message I get a message back that the funtion is only for members and my whole message is lost. It just happened again and it's extremely annoying. I know I can do my message offline and cut and paste, but why should I have to?

Funny thing is, my 3 favorite dancers ever all went by their real names. I wonder if there's a connection? Incidently the supposed anonymity provided by stripper names is (or at least used to be) a frequent topic of dicussion on the Pink site. I once made the mistake of pointing out that if they thought using a fake name protected their identy, they were kidding themselves. Needless to say I got slammed - they don't want to hear truth that contradicts their conventional wisdom there. And the truth is that anyone who really wants to know all about some girl can easily find out, I can think of many different ways. And in fact I did so once when a girl challenged me that I couldn't. Actually I found out so much about her that I never told her that I had done so, she would have freaked out. But I was surprised how easy it was.

What is the most unusual feature of a strip club that you have seen?
I actually have seen a free popcorn machine but I don't remember where - I think it was in Providence, RI. I've also been to clubs that serve free food at times - one of PA's clubs has a free lunch buffet which is pretty decent, and a club in Providence (maybe the same one mentioned above) used to serve free pizza during happy hour. I don't think that club exists anymore.

AN, the hot tub (two of them actually) was at a place called Lady Godiva's near Morgantown, WV. But when I mentioned it once before here it didn't sound like it was all that unusual. I actually thihk the most unusual thing I've ever seen in a strip club was in a little club in Atlanta - there happened to be an amateur contest going on and this really good looking girl went up on stage, took off all her clothes, danced for a song, then returned to her friends at the bar - without ever putting anything back on. It was really funny.

When a visit to an escort goes wrong....
I'm guessing that Mr. Maag will sue the local jurisdiction and walk away with a substantial out-of-court settlement. Sounds like the only people getting screwed there are the local taxpayers.

What pisses me off. And you?
I think probably the thing that annoys me the most about a club is when the music is so loud that you can't hold a conversation. I can deal with almost anything else by just ignoring rude behavior or saying no or finding another girl, but too loud music will almost always ruin my visit and send me packing.

McDoogals in MD doesn't (or at least didn't, I haven't been there lately) have a door on the ladies dressing room. I guess the manager wanted to be able to see what they were doing, but so could everybody else.

Shadowcat, I guess neither of them were. I don't see many B movies and don't much remember them if I do. Unless you want to consider the original "And God Created Woman" starring Bridget Bardot a B movie, which I travelled quite a distance to see in it's original limited US theater run around 1958. It was worth it. Wow!

Asking You for a lap dance, what techiques are there?
Shadowcat, that's always been my approach too. "Wannadance" always gets an automatic "no" from me, unless the girl is just too gorgeous to pass up, in which case I'd be asking her eventually anyway. The only exception I can ever remember making was once when I entered a club a girl immediately (and I mean immediately, I'd hadn't even sat down yet) grabbed my arm and said something like "quick, no one's watching the cameras yet (the place had just opened), if we go in back right now we can do anything we want." Sounded like stripper shit to me but the girl was really cute so I went with her. Turns out it wasn't stripper shit at all. A very fun evening. But how often is that likely to happen?

Who Pulls It Out?
My ATF quit dancing over such an incident. A customer she was dancing for pulled it out, she screamed for the owner/manager to throw him out, he refused to do so, she walked out and hasn't danced since. That happened about 9 years ago.

a request for founder about listing places where smoking is permitted
You may be alble to smoke again in Philly clubs (assuming the current city ban covers strip clubs and I'm not sure about that.) The state legislature is trying to find a compromise on a state-wide ban that would exempt bars and private clubs (whatever that means) - the current version of the state law would prohibit cities from menforcing anything more strict than the state law. I don't think a state law can pass withouut that provision, because there's a lot of opposition to a state-wide smoking ban at the state level (and there are lot of small tobacco growers in the state who have a lot of political power.) Interestingly, this could mean that smoking will be legal in topless joints that serve alcohol, but not in nude joints that don't, unless they become private clubs, which I'd guess most of them will by making you buy a year's membership. That's called effective government in action. It's a crazy world we live in.

Something new has been added to TUSCL...
I think we'd be better off with an overall rating of 1 to 5 if the site defined exactly what was meant by each, eg. 5 - one of the best, can't wait to go again, would go a long way out of my way to visit again; 4 - above average but not one of the best, would visit again if in the area; 3 - pretty average club, might visit again if in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to do so; 2 - below average, wouldn't visit again unless I was nearby and really dying for a club visit and there was nothing else around; 1 - terrible club, wouldn't visit again under any circumstances. And by definition there should be more 3s than anything else. The problem with the current system of 1 to 10 is the numbers mean different things to different people so are meaningless. Can anyone explain the difference between a 3 and a 4 rated club? I don't think I've ever used a 4. Or a 6 either for that matter. To me all clubs are a 1, 3, 5, 7-8 (and I don't know what the difference is but it probably has more to do with my mood that with the club), or 9. I've never found a perfect club (actually I did once but that was before I knew about ratings and it no longer exists) so I've never given a 10. Adding decimal places only makes things worse IMO.

I'm wondering what purpose a dancer asking for a dance serves. I don't think I've ever bought a dance from a girl who asked me that I wouldn't have bought without her asking (eg. I'd have asked her.) In fact my initial reaction to being asked is usually negative, unless we've been sitting together for awhile. Does being asked have any impact on anyone else's decision here? I frankly don't understand the point of girls just walking up and asking "wannadance." Does anybody ever say yes? I never have.

No contest. The winner was Verna Lisi in "How to Murder Your Wife" starring Jack Lemmon. A distant second would be Rebecca DeMornay in "Risky Business." The scene where she does Tom Cruise in a subway car is one of my all-time favorites. She wins my vote as best movie hooker ever.
