Your first two encounters sounded very similar to a couple trips upstairs on my first visit last year. After hearing so much about HK being heaven on Earth and all that I was shocked that my experiences seemed so transactional. The girls who keep asking if you came already, hate those. Or keeps reminding you about the time. Thank God I didn't have any of those on my last trip.
I just think each trip is different, and luck is a factor. You mention that you decided you won't go upstairs with any girls from here on unless you have chemistry with them downstairs. Meanwhile, I remember picking out my last three girls based solely off looks and not even a ficha or a conversation, just asked for arriba. Yet those three were some of the best experiences I had. While the first trip I took, I did the whole ficha thing while talking and they seemed cool and it felt like we vibed. Yet once we got to the room they suddenly became cold and business only. I really think that sometimes you just get lucky and sometimes you don't.
BTW, do you not drink? I noticed you only had soda.

Well I've never been directly affected by or even noticed a whale with my own eyes before. But in a trip to Playhouse Lounge in NJ I got to hear plenty of whales in action.
So Playhouse Lounge has a different type of system for keeping count of dances. One I really like, honestly. When you're back in any VIP room, there is a guy whose sole job is to keep track of how many songs each dancer in VIP has done. A song is 4 minutes exactly, at $30 each. Once a 4 minute interval has passed he announces the dancer's name and song count over a PA system that any patrons/dancers currently in a VIP room will hear. So when you hear your dancer's name she'll ask if you wanna keep going. If you don't, you have 30 seconds to open the VIP room door before being charged for another dance.
Well while I was receiving dances I'd hear the names of plenty other dancers along with modest song counts like 4 or 5. And then sometimes I'd hear ridiculous numbers like 'Mercedes, 25'. Or 'Milla, 32'. Doing the math on that and I was just like, wow. With one, I tried to wait to see who the dancer came out with just so I could see who it was that just ponied up close to $1000. But he never came out. I do one last dance and I hear the count now up to 47! Like, wtf?!

@Cristobal yes we should warn him about sharky girls and straight up hustlers in the club. But I don't think we should discourage him from having a great night out.
And in Vegas he won't pay $500 for a 5 minute bikini air dance. He might however get suckered into paying $800 for an hour to only grope tits and ass. That's what we should be warning him about.

There are different kinds of strip club trips. There are the solo trips, for very specific mongering. You know exactly what you want and how you're gonna get it. Then there's the group visit/bachelor party trip. Like Subraman famously describes, this is the "Woohoo boys night out!". It's not so much about getting value for your spending as it is just having a good time. Dropping big amounts for tables and bottle service, being drunk, and just having a good carefree time. I believe this describes the OP's situation. IMO there's nothing wrong with a night like this. It creates memories with your friends that last a lifetime.
I don't think there's anything wrong with him having his first strip club experience in a Vegas club with all his boys. It's a one time thing. If after this trip he decides he wants to visit the strip club more often, then he can have a first solo trip to the club and see how different it is. And how different his home area clubs are vs Vegas clubs.

SLD's tip was the only one I usually do. If there's a dancer you know you want dances from, ask her about 20 seconds after a new song starts. If she's cool, she'll offer to wait until the next song to start on her own without you saying. If she's REALLY cool she'll even undo her top and grind you even though the paid portion hasn't started yet. If she tries to start in the middle of the song then that's a red flag already, not a good start.

$10000 for a month is not overkill. $10000 for a week is overkill. $5000 for a week is a damn good time IMO. That allows for plenty of arribas and generous tipping. If you're watching your spending $3000 for a week should be fine.

I remember my first time in a strip club was for my 30th birthday and just like you, in Vegas. I worried about the same thing you did, should I try not to get a boner? Good stuff SLD. As for recommending Bay Area clubs to her I doubt she wants to enter the mess of employee status that the dancers here have to deal with.
