I agree with Shadowcat. Discretion is a must and there are no guarantees in this business so why set up expectations? People i trust i know ill get lucky-the rest of you? who knows?

I have been to the Windsor clubs in the last two years and they are not worth visiting. Even with the exchange it is on %50 as much fun as Detroit.

At least one of us IS a licensed counselor. Most of you got it right anyway. As long as the action is not causing pain or loss or injury to you or to others then it is a lifestyle or an interest. Maybe you are more into it then others but an addiction is when it overtakes your rational mind and starts to lead really bad decisions. If you are spending more money than you can afford on this hobby that us a not a good sign.If you relations (wife) are suffering that is not a good sign. Lack of sleep and anxiety are other good indicators of addiction. Otherwise have fun and keep a lid on it.

I don't see much discussion on the benefits of an immediate annuity vs. the disadvantages of indexed annuities. Some have fees -some don't. I don't think any non-retired person should have one but if you have all your exposure to the market through investment accounts it is not a bad idea to have some guaranteed income. Interest rates now are not good on immediate annuities but will improve over time as we also get older and that helps too. Everybody above says they can beat the market. I guess they all must be brilliant or lucky. I see an annuity as a part of a four part approach to retirement. A: Pension B: Social security C: Investments and D: a little money in an annuity..This investment should not be more than %25 of your resources.

I used to manage a tobacco shop. Cigars should only be smoked half way down and in well ventilated areas. Cheap cigars stink and all cigars stink on the second half. I agree with Mr Dugan. Cigarettes are bad enough.

I will be more active when I retire not less. Sitting all day in my office isn't making me healthy nor does the stress of working with idiots help my blood pressure. If you go sedentary at 62 you are probably already a slob to start with. I always answer people the same way when i am asked what i will do in retirement. I will do whatever I want. Of course having money helps.
