In Detroit, the clubs I've gone to seem to all Jane them.
They provide the services that Jack just described. Many times they sell them dresses/outfits, and provide food, makeup, etc.

In my early clubbing days, this used to get to me if there was a girl I was really, really interested in.
Now, I've learned to just chalk it up to it wasn't meant to be that day, and there will be another day when she's free.
And even if there isn't, there will soon be another hot young thing coming out of the dressing room to dance that will make me forget all about the previous girl I was fixated on.

I've known guy's that give fake names in the clubs. But as far as I know, they were just doing it to fuck with people in the club, not to hide anything.
I could see if you were married and didn't want your real name to be known, but if you are single, I don't think it really matters and it just complicates things. Keeping a lot of lies straight is hard work, and who wants that much work in a club when you are there to enjoy yourself?
