Coming from bright sunlight into dark clubs, I've stumbled more than a few times if I'm not familiar with the layout or if there is a rug at the entrance.
I've learned to walk in slowly and stand somewhere off to the side to let my eyes adjust for a few moments if I go into a club during the day.

Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!

I remember it now. 7 years later.
When I first started out hitting clubs on a regular basis in 2010-2011, I didn't have enough experience to draw on. I only wish I had found this forum before I dove in head first with reckless abandon.
Now, after learning my lessons the hard way, I'm much more cognizant of the situation and what it really is. Inside, it's bizarro world. Outside, is real life.

I don't know of any that are fully retired even though I've met plenty that said they "had an exit plan."
From my experience, it seems they genuinely try to retire and find a regular job. But many times it seems they can't make it in the real world actually having to work 5 days a week and have federal and state taxes taken out of their check.
So, many that I've known have either come back to dancing or have done it off and on to supplement their income. However there is definitely a shelf life to stripping as the inevitable effects of time take their toll on girls and there are always new, younger versions of them waiting to take their place.
