Someone will always get snubbed from the tourney, but now at least the 13th team or 17th team wouldn’t have been a realistic contender for the national championship so it lessens the impact of the snub on the actual athletic competition. BTW, that was my argument against FSU whining about being snubbed. Yes, it was unfortunate and if 6 teams got in, they should have made it based on their record. With 4 teams? No way. They lost their most important player and had no chance to win a game.

The OP is inventing theories to support conclusions which is backwards. Texas may be conservative but the cities of Houston and Dallas are not. There are lots of components to what goes into a club and while politics or tourism or macro factors can generally make a difference, the much more relevant factors are club specific, i.e. the owners and managers. Those are the people who dictate pricing and enforcement of rules. Some clubs have a history of a type and the owners/managers maintain it or change it. Those are the factors that make a difference.

I try not to have hard line rules for my club fun. General tendencies, sure. If I want a dance and they don’t want to or are luke warm I’ll usually avoid. Sometimes though, a dancer is so hot and/or dance prices are so low or values are so high I’ll try to make something happen even if the best signals aren’t there. Sometimes it works surprisingly well that I’ve learned not to have a rule about it.

I don’t limit myself to a single club. It’s a big tent with room for all types.

I drink in clubs most times unless it’s a weeknight early in the week. I’ve not been drunk but definitely loosened up. It adds to my experience of it being a social activity. To each his own.
