"At this point, I have very little faith anything she told me ever was true." AT THIS POINT???
Memo to HR: this exec is a grown-ass man who somehow has not heard that a putain will lie to get her money. Were you guys even paying attention or were you too busy fucking your own paid salopes?
How come I never run into this sort of rube for my scams? Just 'cause I'm not a sexy chick? Damn.

LOL this is nuts...
...I got myself on SG's mailing list, so I could keep up with what was going on for the upcoming swing-by, and what should I notice among the Spam the other day but an SG mailing list item, so I retrieve it...
Let me quote cut-n-paste the content:
Headline "Platinum Saturday - July 22 - Solid Gold"
"Hi there,
Welcome to Solid Gold Fort Lauderdale.
I am your VIP concierge, and I’m here to answer any questions, naughty thoughts, or concerns you might have. For the record - I’m 5’9, my measurements are 34D 23 34. I weigh 127 pounds, and of course my breasts aren’t real. Solid Gold is responsible for more breasts implants than any other Gentlemen’s Club in the country.
Please note my vag is waxed, and I can suck a golf ball through a garden hose.
; )
XO - Your GoldFriend
P.S. If you see me tonight, spank me.

Righto, there was more than one piano and it was a gown/whitechick club all along.
Looking at the map, it's a stone's throw from the Cheetah/DD/BT cluster, in the opposite direction from Gold Club. And it is not right on the main drag but you have to go up a side street around the block into the industrial lots. But it is very near the casino/racetrack/country club so MJP may be trying to catch that group before they head up Powerline Rd. I don't think there's enough of the SuperClub demographic around Upper Broward to sustain this location. even in its former Oakland Park incarnation it was not THAT ambitious. And the successful "middle class" clubs in the area were Cheetah and DD, nowhere near this.
Hmm... I will be in FL a couple of days shortly, I may have to just do some recon.

Huh, may have to have to drop by next time I'm in SoFla just to say I saw it. And yeah like I said, there would be an issue with what market you tap -- the old prime location on US1 by itself tended to drive up the demographics.
Their online presence has a lot of self congratulatory content originated by themselves but not much feedback yet. There's talk of having a rooftop terrace lounge by October and having a second opening then. MJP seems to be going ambitious in his late years.
^@gammanu95 if it's anything like the old SG it means they are promising finer strippers and good-mileage dances. At the old place it would not be unusual to get an offer for very expensive "value-added-services". Anyway "themed" VIP rooms are not unknown in American strip clubs, just as another gimmick to charge more than usual.

From their facebook page posts, it seems the opening dates were finally happened 15 and 16 June. We'll have to see what this new iteration of the club ends up being. The SG at Oakland Park was good for an "upscale" club (by Broward standards) but how upscale can you stay in Pompano is to be seen.

Answer for me is "no" but that's just because in general I don't do the sloppy look and prefer to be in "street casual" I can wear in and out of anywhere. Lightweight khakis/microfib slacks. I should get myself a pair of those slack-like sweats they sell, though, to see how well they do the job.

Everything written by this member is a fact.
Like Papi said, he was already just an icon rather than an actual ruler, and Raúl is trying to entrench a dynasty while he can. Then again he was the only one of the great icons of the Revolution who lived (or was allowed to live) to be old and see it rot. With or without him, this has gone on too damn long.
Back when normalization was set forward, I was just fine with it because, as I saw it, if the US normalized relations with fuckin' Vietnam we can normalize them with anyone. Cuba did not cost us 57,000 dead, hundreds of thousands messed up, and kids shot in campus protests. And Vietnam and China and (name-any-of-a-bunch-of-countries) remain entrenched institutionalized dictatorships yet we make deals with them.
Which is something we can't forget, they DID establish a brutal opression, with firing squads and forced labor and abuse of old ladies making peaceful protests; filling the prisons and "mental hospitals" with those who failed to get in line and then dumping them abroad together with the real criminals. It was not just the properties of the Mob and the foreign corporations that got seized, it was anything of any productive value, and then they proceeded to render it utterly unproductive.
People don't try to cross the sea aboard a truck bed converted into a raft just because life is inconvenient.
Problem is, the Cuban Commies' whole point of existing by now is to claim they stood up to us. Fidel and Raul stubbornly insisted to not back off from actual communist policies, even as it ruined everything they had once tried to build up, because they were standing up to the Yanquis. How long can they keep that up? Vietnam and China were willing to make deals and open up business opportunities and lighten up a bit on some nonthreatening independent activity, just as long as everyone understood the Party stays in power. But would anyone in the PCC settle for THAT? Would the US?
Cuba deservse better. Much better. Maybe in burying the icon and eventually in a transition, those in charge of the transition can bury the need to prove a point even if it kills them.

@SJG just to be clear, Lido/SVT are not really what many people call "underground" clubs (meaning outlaw). The Lido business model seems more along the lines of a "Lap Dance Event" promotion that gets booked at a varying set of non-strip-club venues, which are on the up-and-up and have to protect their licenses -- usually the private event rooms/halls of a club/bar/restaurant, or the main room of a smaller club on nights it's dark.
The thing is that indeed part of the point with these gigs is that it does not work on the model of a strip club with a stage show and overpriced private areas. The usual situation for a Manhattan NY club is you have your stages, then you have your $20 lappers either at the table or at an open bench around the perimeter of the main room, then you have your "CR" which are not really private but rather a room/hall of partitioned booths where you'll be financially brutalized for not much more contact. Lido aspires to set up a staged after-work bar party scene where the girl you chat up will at some point offer to take you to a semiprivate area for a $20 lap dance... and there's no CR/"booth" to upsell. Another attraction for the dancers in this scheme is that they do not have to do stages or hustle drinks/bottles.
Lido may be suffering a "victim of its own success" phenomenon in that they are opening more shows per week, which either means there is growing customer demand OR they think there's untapped potential for growth -- which requires in turn more dancers to be available. That means more girls who -are- regular strippers in between gigs will show up. Also, the "movable event" scheme results in that the space can become unpredictable. I've seen same-day change-of-venue notifications, that has got to have an effect on attendance. All that can have an effect on quality. I must admit my latest visit this past summer -was- a lot less impressive than that from earlier trips.

Eh, private businesses are private businesses and we don't have to go there if we don't like what they've got. Anyway I don't surf porn or anything but plainest news and mail at coffeeshop/fast food joint hotspots just for the sake of security.
God bless my grandfathered Unlimited Data Plan, and the court that told the carrier to stop throttling it.

mark94: "Every 4 years, it's the same. A series of stories before the convention about how Republicans are horn dogs and escorts and strippers are going to make out like bandits. Problem is, I never read a story after the convention confirming it. I have my doubts about the reality of this myth"
Since around 2000 I've been hearing stories about how the stripper/escort business at the party conventions is disappointing.
rh48hr: "In this day and age of cell phone cameras and TMZ, anyone well known from the RNC will be smart enough not to go out to a strip club. They may have someone brought to them, but the days of going to the club on a trip like this is over."
Exactly. And never mind smartphones, I would not put it past local TV stations and newspapers AND oppo agents of the other party from South Flyover to have somebody tailing their delegates, or the lobbyists from whoever's the big industry in town, to see if they catch them at something. Let's remember we're almost 30 years after Gary Hart's "Monkey Business".
Additionally, in the particular case of the GOP convention I think the general partying mood is badly harshed by... well... by how they got here and what they got out of it. They probably just want to drink 'til blessed unconsciousness delivers them. I know at least one whole delegation that's decided to bugger off the final night. But in both parties in recent times I also detect a rise of ideological "true believers" (Tea Partiers, Bernie Bros) who would not be likely to head for the strip joint like an old school pro would.

BTW regarding Lido reviews, over this summer they have been changing about the venue locations (usually the private-event rooms at restaurants, or clubs on an otherwise off-night). So pay more attention to the reviews about the dancers and experience than about the facilities as those will keep changing.

Bacon props!!
Yeah, flagging vs. propping, ISTM that when the page format was last updated it made the prop feature tempting to use as a comments section. I still will myself old-style flag suspected shill reviews rather than use the props to do so -- partly because I feel it distorts the statistics, props being presumed positive as mentioned above.
But yeah, sure, there's ads and then there's driveby reviews done only for the sake of getting another month's access. Both useless but for different reasons.

10 minute drive, inferior quality and really not a good call for me in regards of the risk of "outing" locally; most of my patronage is taken out-of-town where nobody gives a fuck about seeing me at a strip joint and telling their entire contact list.
