Olympic Gardens/OG closes.

One of the only spots in Vegas where extras were generally available. OG apparently shut its doors rather abruptly last weekend, possibly over the failure to maintain their liquor license. Though I'd heard that the relatively new owners were having other legal troubles. Their facebook claims they are moving operations to a new club called "Sophia's" and most of the talent is going too.
I'm disappointed... sort of. I had a lot of fun at this club, it was a great place to take a break from the tables and relax for a few hours in the afternoon. BUT it had gone way down hill and the sell that took place the summer before last hurt it even more.
I'll also be curious to see what happens to the actual property. They had a large two story building right on Las Vegas Boulevard that would need fairly extensive remodeling to be anything other than a club. I think there's a decent chance it gets bought and turned into another strip club.

last commenti have a few fond memories...
I recall many great times there. In particular, one perfectly shaped blonde with huge naturals. Beautiful face, ultra soft skin, and a knowledge of how to move and begins on top of me. Crystal is the name she used back then. Phenomenal lady, my memory seared forever.
Girls of Glitter Gulch closed because the property was sold along with others to guys who own a couple casinos on Fremont.
Closed permanently on Saturday, October 22. Owners have transferred the phone number to a placed called Sophie's, which will have is grand opening on Friday, October 28. Sophie's has a completely different address.
@Che,
I don't know how familiar you are with Fremont but essentially the Stevens brothers bought everything between Binion's and Main Street: Las Vegas Club, Mermaids, Glitter Gulch and two tiny shops between Mermaids and Glitter Gulch. They also bought La Bayou which was across from Mermaids.
The prevailing opinion is that mermaids will be torn down to extend Golden Gate and the other properties will be torn down to build a new resort on that corner. I read somewhere the Stevens want to rival Golden Nugget in quality (essentially Strip quality). It's all big money, they spent 13.5 million just to get the two tiny shops.
If extras are hard to come by in LV; I wonder why they have not opened some good extras-SCs in areas of NV where prostitution is legal - maybe those areas are too far from LV (among other possible issues)?
That's a shame. I've had some crazy fun there and left plenty of body fluids in the VIP area.
I also liked that the club was within walking distance from the Stratosphere, which is where we would sometimes stay.
Anyone know where the new club is/will be located?
Gotta admit that I had more bad times than good at GGG, but I'll still miss it the next time I visit the downtown area.
Shit. Always bad to see clubs close.
Glad they are finally doing something positive for downtown.
RIP, OG, oh the memories we have had there.
I'm waiting for Juice to post about his good times there
I believe Lopaw, it's on the other side of the Freeway behind Cosmopolitan/City Center.
@papi_chulo, the counties where prostitution is legal are sparsely populated and have their own brothels. Pahrump has the closest brothels to Vegas and it's probably and hour+ drive.
Just when I get back to Vegas and decide to broaden my horizons from Palomino and the Rhino. OG's would have been a good change. Saphire was my first ever club visit, but I just can't get myself to go back. Maybe that dumpy Talk of the Town I've read about? We'all see.
OG was cool. I feel honored to have hung out at the same club as Lopaw.
Sapphires and Rhino were so "Las Vegas" but the OG reminded you at least a little bit of just a normal club. Mind you if you walked 100 feet from the entrance at night you'd probably be murdered.
shailynn --> "Mind you if you walked 100 feet from the entrance at night you'd probably be murdered."
^^^ Yep. Sounds like standard zoning S.O.P. for most cities' strip clubs. ^_^
R.I.P.
I've never understood people being afraid in that neighborhood. It's on a major road with plenty of lighting, there are some solid bars and restaurants and plenty of wedding chapels plus lots of normal businesses. It looks much seedier than it really is.
^^^It's kinda like COI. People say it's dangerous to walk at night, but in reality it's not bad. I've walked from Rhino to Synn at night plenty of times.
^^^^^^^ bet you had some good times at both ends too.

For those of you that don't know OG was separate from most the other strip clubs in Vegas.
It was along the route from the strip to Fremont street which is a very unsafe area in spots.
Sapphires, Rhino, Cheetahs, Treasures are closer together in a more industrial area.
Here's an old OG trip report of mine from back in the day. Memories...

You had a great time, there, Chili.
Vince,
Just reading it again made me exhausted. :-)

Thanks for the TR link, Chili. As my OG visits took place in the later half of the 90's, I'm grateful to have experienced OG during its' heyday, rather than during the declining years. I recall an attractive dancer shift- virtually nobody less than an "8". The dancers dancing at OG in the 90's would be the caliber of the ones dancing at Rhino and Sapphires today.
Quite an adventure CP.
shailinn... not to be picky. you forget lil darlings diamonds kan kan room. and dvlv.
We've discussed this before, but the Las Vegas places which look interesting to me are:
Talk of the Town
Chicas Bonitas
Club Lacey, Foreplay Urban Women Show, in the Palamino Building, weekly Black BBW Show
Girls of Glitter Gulch ( I know people say horrible stuff about this place )
Club Platinum ( I know people say horrible stuff about this place too )
Place with the Super Size BBW Show, if still any operating, Highland Ave?

Clapton, Layla

You missed Glitter Gulch by a few months.
Oh that's right. I remember hearing that. Is another club opening in it's place?

Always loved OG. Had some great times on their day shift.
just drove by og. sign lit... says new owner. butt closed
I submitted a review of my last visit there when one of the dancers told me she just got the news. Another Vegas institution bites the dust :(
You da man Chili
Alas, thus pass all the world's glories...
