Detroit strip clubs
Mexico City Info
@jackslash: There's barely any scene at all, and the clubs are definitely not brothels like TJ. Your best bet is to make side trips to Puebla, Morelia, or TJ. Domestic airfares in Mexico can be pretty cheap, especially midweek. The escort scene in CDMX by contrast is great. Stay away from streetwalkers, especially if you're solo. Not sure if you have a specific reason to stay in the Centro area. It's not that lively after dark. You might want to consider Roma or Condesa instead. Overall, CDMX is perfectly safe if you've got basic street smarts. It's an awesome city to visit.

What inexpensive item do you have that is either super useful or enjoyable?
A plastic pasta fork I got at a supermarket about 20 years ago. It was $5 and it looked like it could be the perfect back scratcher, and that's exactly what it turned out to be.

Your Mexico trip is more costly: USD continues losing purchasing power vs MXN
@shailynn: The price increases haven't been exorbitant, but they are trending up. The cartels have always been involved in this business. What changed is Covid, inflation, exchange rates, and capex that the HK owners have sunk into the club and hotel that they're trying to get a return on. The girls are charging more because they can. Calling this price gouging is stupid IMO... no one is going there under duress.

This probably sucks for those who visit the ZN often, but for people like me who visit a couple of times in a year it doesn't matter much.

Debating between hotels
The others are right in that there's no issue whatsoever bringing a girl from BT to Cascadas or from HK to Rizo. Only thing that I would note is that the penthouse rooms at Cascadas aren't worth the extra money IMO. They're harder to get to (elevator waits can get to be a pain) and the regular master rooms are certainly nice enough. If noise is a concern, ask if there's a 6th floor room available. My advice is go for a master room and save the extra money for fun. :)

Flights to the TJ Airport
Flying in to most destinations in MX these days is "visa free' meaning that you don't need an FMM. I've been skipping the flight to SAN for years now by combining my TJ visit with travel elsewhere in Mexico.

As of today, guy beers at Hong Kong are $6
@Redbaron12: Sure, and if you go back 8-10 years, the prices there were significantly lower still. But... The club was smaller and Cascadas was a lot seedier, and CC was empty most of the time, and there was more space to dance in BT. The price increases have come alongside a lot of improvements in the ZN so I can't really complain. YMMV.

You people amaze me. How many drinks do you need to have while you're there for this to make a real difference to you? By all means, boycott the place, and I will spend my time consoling the bar girls over your absence. :)

The price increases I can live with because they're relatively modest. The booth action, however, is what drives me to check out CC more and more. I guess I'll have to add D&G to the list of places to check next time.

Sosua Dominican Republic over Zona Norte and Hong Kong
Great read, thanks. A few questions because I'm thinking of going there next year... What do incidentals cost there (food, drinks, etc.)? In other words, aside from airfare and accommodations, what is a reasonable budget to plan on for a trip there (including entertaining the ladies)? Also, any tips on getting pesos? How prevalent/safe/reliable are the ATMs there? Btw, agree with you on Costa Rica. I spent a week between San Jose and Jaco and don't think I'll ever go back for the mongering scene.

Currency
You can use either, but as OPillini96 says, the girls prefer dollars. I think it's for the same reason I prefer it - the biggest Mexican bill is 500 pesos, which is worth around 30 bucks. This means carrying around a significant amount of cash in pesos also means carrying around a big wad of bills. For everyday stuff like getting a coffee, it's hard to get change for a 500 peso note so ordinary Mexicans tend to stick to 200 peso notes and smaller. So paying your girl with 500 peso notes is kinda inconvenient for her. Arribas currently cost 100 dollars, and it's far easier for everyone to have a single Benjamin to hand over.

@BabyDoc: OK, if you're not trolling then frankly you're a dipshit for expecting information that you can reliably use from this forum. Either you cross at an official point of entry, in which case you're on camera if nothing else and in the system. Or you cross somewhere else that isn't official, in which case you're crossing illegally. Let's say you go with Plan B. When you go back to the US, you will have two entry records without an exit record in between. Yeah, countries share this kind of data. You can hope some gov employee doesn't notice this when they run their analytics queries against the CBP data, but it'll be there: https://www.dhs.gov/publication/dhscbppia-050-united-states-mexico-entryexit-data-sharing-initiative This is why I told you to talk to a lawyer.

Sorry, but it's hard to take this seriously. To recap: You want advice on how to do something that's illegal, for whatever reason (don't care what). You're looking for this advice from anonymous posters on a strip club review forum. First hand knowledge? Uh, sure, that's exactly what you get here. If you're not trolling, maybe you should pony up some money and talk to a lawyer in Mexico to fully understand what you'd be getting into. Attorney-client privilege isn't exactly the same as the US but it's the same where it counts.

Tourist Monger Litterbug
@PutaTester: I dunno man, I could theoretically be included in that group because I don't go as often as I used to. At the same time though, I don't try to get into the pants of the trophy fucks in the club that much and they're the ones asking for that kind of money. SanchoRG is right, though - this is capitalism, comrade. Once word about a good thing gets out, everyone wants a piece of it including the whales. If you go on the boards that talk about Costa Rica, you see no end of posts from old timers complaining about the rise in prices. Ditto for the Dominican Republic, and on and on. And don't think that the owners of HK don't work hard at getting the word out themselves. For the guys you're talking about, that kind of money probably is a bargain if they're used to dropping a couple of grand per visit at a US strip club to get limited service with the anxiety of getting caught at it. If sex work was legal in America, you'd get economies of scale and the prices would drop through the floor in Mexico. In other words, Congress is who you should be complaining to.

Mexico Phasing Out Use of Paper Visitor Permits (FMM)
The major airports in Mexico have stopped requiring the FMM as of last year unless you're coming from a country that requires a travel visa or you're staying for more than 180 days, so this is just a continuation of the evolving rules. @Puta_Tester: The whole having to surrender your stamped half of the form was more for air travel. The US had something similar back in the day (I-94), and the airline you took was responsible for collecting it as part of the boarding process.

HK Going Downhill
One thing to keep in mind here is that the US dollar has lost close to 20% of its value against the Mexican peso in the space of a year, and both HK and the putas work with pesos at the end of the day. Add inflation to the mix and all of a sudden the price rises don't look as bad as all that. Don't assume that they don't know what the exchange rate is.

Cascadas TLN
Please don't take this personally, but so what if they charge extra for TLN? What makes it ridiculous? Out of the couple of dozen people who post regularly here about going to TJ, only a handful do TLNs on a regular basis and complaining to the management about an extra charge amounts to approximately one fart in a windstorm. They would just tell you to pay up or vote with your feet. The hotels near the airport are convenient to the airport, and that's about it. I highly doubt you'd be that happy staying there if mongering in the ZN is your goal, and the farther you get from the ZN the lower your chances are of staying at a guest-friendly hotel (especially if it's branded).

Rizo de Oro vs Cascadas vs Ticuan
Rizo/Cascadas are oriented around one thing: Giving you a place to take a bargirl to for whatever activities you have in mind for her (I'm generalizing based on reviews of yours that I've seen in the past). In terms of quality and amenities, think of a good Motel 6 or Super 8 property. They do a reasonable job with cleaning and upkeep but the accommodations are not anywhere near what the room rate would get you in, say, Mexico City. If you book at either of these, I would recommend at least a double room because the singles are very small for more than a 1-2 night stay. I go for the master rooms for the extra space plus the ability to get a room with a window (they tend to be at the ends of the halls). Ticuan is definitely a step up in terms of quality and amenities and is usually comparable in cost (or slightly cheaper). The tradeoff is that it's located in the tourist district. You will only get bargirls to go there with you by negotiating something outside of their shift at the club as it's far enough away that you can't just pop out of the club and come back easily, especially at night. It sounds like this will be your first trip there so I would recommend Cascadas this time around until you get a feel for the place. You should go during the week as the weekends are a little overwhelming, crowd-wise.
