Detroit strip clubs
I'm planning to spend a month in Mexico City this fall. I read online that most of Mexico City's strip clubs have been closed down and the scene is only a ghost of what it had been. Are there any good strip clubs or other venues that I can visit?
Hopefully near Centro, the historical area.

My only experience with Mexico City was years ago but rather than a strip club a savvy cab driver took us to an illegal bordello in a residential area. The living room was the meeting area and your choice of alcohol was available. I would guess about 20 young good looking girls working. None of whom spoke English but all were down for whatever at $10 a pop. Sex was done in bedrooms with nothing more than a mattress thrown on the floor. There was a waiting line for the rooms which left a lot of time available for fooling around while you wait. Maybe the whole operation was a little risky but I was young and foolish

From what I have read and been told these operations continue just one step ahead of the law. Might be a different location the next night. But the strip club themselves are pretty much expensive nightclubs with dancers.
Also of concern is that the city is running out of water. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/18/world…

Might be kind of smelly.

My buddy and I were lucky enough to bar hop with a group of gorgeous women from Mexico City one night in Vegas. Talk about knockouts. OMG!

I don’t have any current SC info but you can refer to my review of Queens for a starting point. CDMX has never been my favorite and it has a horrible SC scene on top of everything else. The air pollution is the major danger there. I get ill every time I have to visit and I almost never get ill anywhere else in the world. I personally could not survive for a month in the city (LITERALLY).

Myself, I stay in Reforma which has all the homo places and can be horribly loud at night so ask for a room away from the noise. The advantage of Reforma is that it is pretty damn safe and the sex shop/industry may lead you to something worthwhile.

Oh yeah, "no homo". That's what I'm supposed to say, right?

Keep an eye out. I know two guys that were down there on business several years ago. Got relieved of their wallets and Rolexes by young thugs

I wouldn't mess around in Mexico City. It seems to make the danger of other Mexican cities seem tame.

Gringo? Mexico City? On your own? You're gonna die.
Oh, wait, you're from Detroit? Probably not much worse than Detroit.

You're not going to die. At least not from criminals unless you do something stupid like trying to resist. Petty crime, pick-pocketing and strong armed robbery are real concerns but you are more likely to be ripped off by taxi drivers. In fact almost a guaranteed event.

Respiratory infection from the unbelievably bad air pollution is a bigger threat. Take a mask if you think it will help but take along some Azithromycin if you are really going to be in the city for a month. You'll be glad you did when you're coughing up a lung from pneumonia. And taking some eye drops if you suffer from eye irritation would also be a good idea.

And go to the Cafe de Tacuba. At least you'll eat well in a nice authentic old Mexico restaurant. Buen provecho.

^^^ I don't know where my mind is these days. Well actually it's in the gutter but I digress.

You can buy Azithromycin over the counter without a prescription at any farmacia in Mexico. Unlike the standard 250 mg dose in the States, you will almost certainly get 500mg tablets. Take one 500mg tablet each day for three days. If that doesn't fix you up, go to a doctor.

Disclaimer: This is not medical advice, just something I over heard at Home Depot or Starbucks or somewhere.

@jackslash:

There's barely any scene at all, and the clubs are definitely not brothels like TJ. Your best bet is to make side trips to Puebla, Morelia, or TJ. Domestic airfares in Mexico can be pretty cheap, especially midweek.

The escort scene in CDMX by contrast is great. Stay away from streetwalkers, especially if you're solo.

Not sure if you have a specific reason to stay in the Centro area. It's not that lively after dark. You might want to consider Roma or Condesa instead.

Overall, CDMX is perfectly safe if you've got basic street smarts. It's an awesome city to visit.

Thanks for all the advice, strip club related or not. Mexico City's Zona Rosa seems to be the area for night time entertainment--night clubs, strip clubs and also the gay community. It's a couple miles from the central historical district.

I will play along and comment on your discussion.

The highest level of quality girls in Mexico City, Cancun and Guadalajara are the High End Escorts; both independent and from Agencies; you are taking about Caucasian whites, blondes, brunettes, mixed etc dimes from all over the world.

Then you have the ultra high end bordellos, where dimes from all over the world live in a large house/mansion and will provide you with a lineup to choose from, imagine a place like the chicken ranch in Vegas, but extraordinary luxurious and beautiful girls real dimes from all over the world.

There are high class bars where people go to drink and dance with the girls; the romantic type of slow dance, and they pay per song by buying tokens (fichas) and the girls can be taken OTC, for a fee

Even there are high end street walkers in the neighborhood that are high end like the Zona Rosa (Pink instead of Red light district) in Mexico City.

However you have to remember that:

“In this country (and any country, in today’s global economy), you gotta make the money first.

Then when you get the money, you get the power.

Then when you get the power, then you get the women.”

~ Cuban refugee Tony Montana (Al Pacino) in the movie Scarface (1983)

If you are able to befriend one of the powerful men in Mexico City you would have access to these and more opportunities/options.

Let’s be careful out there and remember:

Pics and Vids or it didn’t happen.
