> Other than proximity (90 miles to florida) is it actually easier for cubans to emigrate here than from other countries in Latin America?
It sure is. We have specific policies that favor employment authorization for immigrants from Cuba (and Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Haiti.) See here for details: https://www.uscis.gov/CHNV
It is much harder to immigrate to the US from Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, or many other LatAm countries compared to Cuba.
Part of the law stipulates that you have to have a citizen sponsor in the US to apply for citizenship. We've had favorable immigration status for years longer with Cuba than other countries too - essentially since Castro's revolution and the Cuban missile crisis where we had the famous Cuban brain drain. So at this point there are no shortage of well established Cubans who can sponsor others.

> Crime is not reported.
An opinion, which no one in this thread has provided evidence to support.
> Only reliable stat is murder.
Which is down, we agree.
I think NYC, LA, and San Fran are all great cities, and much safer now than they were 20 years ago. I've been to all 3 recently and they're all wonderful places to visit, except for the lack of good strip club options. I grew up in NYC and without a doubt every part of that city is much safer now than when I lived there.
I think honestly, you're just watching too much Fox New Muddy. Like maybe cut back just a tiny bit.

^ This is an anecdote, not evidence.
If you have any actual evidence to back up the idea that crime is under-reported right now, in NYC or elsewhere in the US, I'd love to see it.

As a latina enjoyer, I love our new Cubana overlords.
My only objection is: it shouldn't just be Cubanas. There should be more Mexicanas, Venezualans, Dominicanas, etc in US clubs. I gather the reason Cubanas are so ubiquitous is the fact that it's much easier to immigrate from Cuba to the US versus other countries. I was in Tijuana recently and asked a lot of chicas, "¿Por qué las mexicanas nunca vienen a trabajar a clubes estadounidenses?" / Why don't mexican women ever come to work in US clubs? The answer always was: it's impossible to get a visa.
In my personal experience, Cubanas tend to be more mercenary than other Latinas. This is a highly speculative stereotype, I know, but I would call it the "new capitalist syndrome." A Cuban immigrant is experiencing the joys of capitalism and actually reaping the rewards of one's own labor first-hand, for the first time. But that makes them hyper-focus on price and volume at the cost of delivering a good experience.
But not all Cubanas are like that. And also I find even knowing a little bit of Spanish can help build a rapport with Cubanas.

Great review, thanks for taking the time OP.
Sucks that you were getting profiled by chicas though. That seems to be a thing with some chicas, hopefully not all. Check out this YT interview with CC/HK chica here where she talks about not wanting to see black dudes because she worries they're too big: https://youtu.be/dNOjih5sFuI?si=0e6zNfeBYeuFvZ2u&t=2765

Both violent crime and property crime are down significantly since the 90s when the mob was a thing. Why you'd want to return to the days of more frequent muggings, murders and carjackings, while adding a layer of extortion on top is beyond me.

^ Founder, as I understand it, has been slowly rebuilding the site over the past 1-2 years so some functionality has gone away and then later been re-implemented.
Dancer VIP was one such piece of functionality, but as you can see from the thread, founder has promised an update on this...

My recollection from past trips is that 20% weekend discount has always been there. I think they talked me into buying my first VIP card by doing the math and showing me what I would save on the room, that was about 2 years ago, and I don't think that's changed.

^ Has anyone ever gotten the "50% off HK Surprise"? Like what even is that.
Some of that list is a joke. You won't get any more or less attention from the waiters with the VIP card for example. And you can catch the Zona shuttle with or without the card.

I still see on their website that it offers 20% off Hotel, 70% Monday Tuesday.
And I can confirm that from my trip two weeks ago the Rizo card did give me 20% off Weds, Thurs, Fri and Sat.
I think even though the cost has increased it's still worth it, especially for a Mon/Tues trip.
One thing I'd note: I prefer staying at Rizo over Cascadas. And though the rooms are comparably priced, the Rizo card is only $50 instead of 70. If you're curious about this I wrote a detailed comparison of the two hotels in this review: https://tuscl.net/review/413694

Re: Cover. I don't know for sure since I always stay at Rizo or Cascadas, which lets you skip the cover. But I'm pretty sure they only assess a cover of $7-10 dollars on Thurs-Sat nights, and it comes with a free drink. Day and weeknights should be free to enter.
Re: Arriba costs. You'll pay a chica directly for an arriba, you don't pay the house. Most chicas right now are charging $120-$150 per HH arriba. Some might negotiate as low as $100 HH, some outliers might be asking up to $200 per HH arriba. Note that most chicas nowadays will lower their HH rate for more time, so a chica charging $150 per HH might charge $250 per hour or $400 for 2 hours. Most chicas will be happy with a small tip of like $20 on top of their arriba rate.
Note also that you'll pay a barfine to the house for any arriba lasting longer than an hour. That bar fine is $110 per hour, and comes with some drinks, which you'll probably need to tip the mesero for.
The one thing I don't know is if a chica will negotiate a lower arriba rate if you're only interested in dances. My guess is not. But you might try and find out for your self. Assuming they charge the same, the VIP room will be cheaper by the hour for you than an arriba.
Finally, how's your Spanish? If it's anything short of fluent, make sure you download the Spanish language pack for Google Translate, so you can use it even if you don't get service in the club. (My phone never works in the club.) Here are a few phrases you might practice or memorize in advance of your trip:
No quiero tener sexo / I don't want to have sex
Busco chica que le guste bailar / I'm searching for a chica who likes to dance
Solo me interesan... / I'm only interested in....
...los bailes eróticos / erotic dances
...los bailes sexys / sexy dances
...los bailes de barra / pole dances
...los bailes de regazo / lap dances
¿Cuanto cobras por una arriba sin sexo, solo los bailes? / How much do you charge for an arriba without sex, just dances?

^ The other option for dances is the VIP rooms. They cost $110 per hour to the house, plus a tip for the mesero (~$10) and a tip for chica ($80-$100), and they come with a bucket of ficha beers for you both to enjoy. If you're going to be getting a lot of dances, VIP is definitely cheaper by the hour then the 5 min privados.
Getting lap dances in HK is one of my favorite past times. Nowhere in the US can you get an hour long, ultra high mileage dance with drinks for ~$200. IMHO, you'd be missing the best part, which is taking a chica arriba afterwards, but you do you, my dude.

I plan to hang up the shoes whenever the equipment stops working (without vitamin V.) That seems a valid reason to hang it up.
I feel your pain on the Block. I never saw it in it's hay day but I did visit about two years ago, and it's sketchy. The private room I did had video cameras watching the entrance, and the dancer told me to keep an eye on them as she was doing her business, in case they'd get raided. Almost entirely killed the buzz, not to mention the fear of getting mugged coming and going.
I wouldn't let THAT stop you though. There are other scenes that are excellent for mongering. Maybe a trip to Inskter, MI, Pompano, FL, or Tijuana would cure your blues?

Great advice from OPIllini96, captainfun and others here.
I just want to add, you can check border wait times, both historical and current, here: https://bwt.cbp.gov/details/09250407/PED
It seems unlikely you'll wait too long crossing late night on a Tuesday. But what I would do is start checking that CBP site on Tuesday evening to see if for whatever reason they are backed up that night, then you can leave earlier if needed.

> Ron, in all fairness to Bernie, he had a point. The "super delegates" all lined up for Clinton so early in the primaries that it made his bid look hopeless from the start.
@rick, I get it. I'm definitely not at all a Sanders fan, but at the time it seemed to me those changes were right.
But now, I wish the party had those super delegates, because I don't think old Joe is going to step down on his own. I do wonder though if a call from Obama might tip the scale for him.

> Is there anything the party can do to stop him running, are there any mechanisms that don’t involve bumping him off?
In short, nope. Biden has already won enough pledged delegates in the primaries. Pledge delegates are legally bound to vote for him in the convention.
There's an interesting history here. It used to be that the majority of delegates to the Dem convention were "super delegates" - party leaders, members of congress, governors, etc. There were enough super delegates that the party leadership could have override the will of the primary voters, if necessary.
In 2016 during Bernie Sanders' first run at the Dem nomination, most super delegates overwhelmingly favored Clinton. She beat Bernie fair and square in the primaries, but nonetheless, the Sanders camp was raised a big ruckus about the undemocratic nature of super delegates. In 2018, the party acceded to the Sanders camp complaints and removed super-delegates from the process, unless it becomes a contested convention.
So that leaves us with only two off ramps: either Biden dies, he willingly steps down (forcing a contested convention where super delegates decide), or if neither of those happen, he'll be the nominee.

OP, this review might answer your question #4: https://tuscl.net/review/413707
Scroll down to look for ##### Club Details #####. I put a lot of detail into how the club is laid out and have some tips for how to navigate it.
Re: question #5: Planning just private no rooms or hotels. Can you elaborate on what you mean, and what you're asking? There's a wide array of options here: taking a chica arriba (but not having sex), doing VIP rooms (my favorite pastime) or doing Privados (which are cheap but not a great deal because they are over so quick.)

Gulf Coast. I’m not your boss.
The last GDP growth number I saw was Q1 2024, which was +1.4%. I don't think Q2 numbers are out yet, but where are you getting the 2.4% from?
If I had to guess, I'd wager Q2 stays around ~1.5 percent, and I predict the goldilocks economy to continue through Q3, maybe slowing just slightly to grow a little more than a %.
And FWIW, the Q3 2024 numbers are what matters most for November. You can basically predict whether the incumbent party will stay or not based on the growth rate from Q3 in an election year.

I will vote for Biden's head in a glass jar if it comes to that. The threat that Trump poses to our republic is just too severe to even stomach the thought of a second term. This time, unlike his first term where at least appointed some competent administrators to his cabinet, he'll surround himself with extremists who will do real and lasting damage to our republic.
To answer your question: I think Biden will not step down, even though I think he should.
Interestingly, betting markets right now (like predictit) have Kamala at higher odds of winning the Dem nomination, and the presidency than Biden. I think a savvy gambler would be dumping some money into the Biden right now, because even though I want him to step down, I don't think he's getting out.
