They closed it today because members of the “caravan” rushed it in big numbers. I’ve seen reports from people that were there and they said it was a pretty large and pretty unruly group. I heard the outlets on the American side closed because of it. I’m actually kind of glad this happened today. I’ve been hearing that this thing was just waiting to boil over, and there was a lot of tension in La Zona. Hopefully this gets things back to normal quicker.

My next trip is likely to be the second week of December. I’ve been keeping a close eye on it and hope things calm down by then. Right now it appears the restrictions have all been to the vehicle lanes and not the pedestrian lanes. I would be surprised if this went on too long. I’m hearing that there is a lot of anger at the caravan by citizens of Tijuana. Local politicians are likely to get rid of the “caravan” to calm things down, rather than let it continue to be a thorn in thier side.

Hotel Ticuan is a nicer hotel that is chica friendly I’ve been told. It is not to far from Zona Norte.

Do you have a passport card or just the book? If you have the card you can use the ready lane. Use the app to determine which pedestrian crossing is going faster. It may be more convenient to cross closer to the trolley or your car, but getting to either side of the freeway is pretty easy. I’ve seen differences between the two crossings of up to twenty minutes.
