IMO you are spot on JayJaydancer...
Bullwinkle good list all good flicks. I guess I'm a little more forgiving of JJ's approach to movie making cause I definitely feel the ST vibe in his work. I think that in many respects he is simply to clever by half and the story tends to get lost in the production but with all the toys available to these guys today I can understand how it would be hard not to try a little bit of everything. Unfortunately in many respects it ends up going over the top and we are left with the diminished result. Still I applaud your list.

I can appreciate your position Alucard but your not really in a position to lay down judgement if you haven't seen any of them. I believe that nostalgia is blinding you to the fact that they have merit and unfortunately all of your direct experience with the original series is for naught if you don't open your self to the experience of something new and potentially better in certain respects.
That having been said you do have a right to your opinion but not to judge in the absence of a body of direct experience with the subject matter at hand.
I am curious though what would be on a list of your top 5 sci fi movies Alucard?

I liked it but I'm kinda predisposed to liking that kinda stuff. Personally though I thought that they tried to cram too much into it so it was not as fleshed out as I would have liked it. I wont spoil the "surprise" and ruin it before you see it but I will say that I think that JJ really fucked up the timeline and a couple core ST sacred cows got fucked with in the process.
All that having been said I liked Oblivion a whole lot more than Into Darkness...FWIW

I had an ATF that simply called herself Jane and while all the other dancers were dressed up in fancy lingerie she would come out in an oversized white dress shirt with only a skimpy pair of white cotton panties on underneath. I've changed twice.
Once in 2010 and just this month to my current handle.
The 2010 change was because of a K2G interface malfunction that forced me to reboot so to speak. The most recent was due to a domestic disturbance but everything is cool now.
I don't know what gives with all of this recent turmoil. I gotta admit that it's a bit confusing (re:Juicebox, Alucard, Dougster (and the twins) and this LDK/LBK thing) but at least it's not boring around here.
