The Romulus P.D. is just a few blocks west of The Landing Strip. They could've walked there.
Too bad it wasn't The Playhouse that got raided -- for the DJ cutting songs short when a customer heads to the VIP with a gal. Now that's a crime!

Either that or their financing dried up. They were aggressive growers and I'd be surprised if they were using very much of their own money. In fact, since they had been in business for a little while the folks investing the money got a chance to see the results and likely cooled on the strip club biz.
What's up with that 14 yr old dancer? She hasn't made the news in quite sometime...

Steve, isn't that the Tom Bodet/Red Roof Inn line?
Speaking of Red Roof, they had a promo 6 months ago about a select number of rooms per place available for $1 a night. Don't know how successful it was, but I'm guessing PIMPS-R-US saw it as a way to drive down their overhead costs...

Sam, I think you may prefer her, even if she has a genius level IQ, to grind the crap out of you so long as you're her temporary employer (ie in the VIP "think tank" area...)

If you want her to entertain you with her superior intellect, have her do so during the interview portion (comes after "Wanna dance?") on the main floor of the club.

Sam, now? It was a different story a few years ago. As I recall, MySpace was the unquestioned #1 at the time. Then Rupert Murdoch bought it for a large sum and directed his staff to monetize it. That effort pushed users out and Facebook was happy to take them in.

Thank you for the compliments.
I have cut and pasted a couple of recent reviews which speak to the increased drink hustle level at some Detroit clubs. Click on the "Blogs" tab at the top of this site and you'll see what I am talking about.

Sanitago, when I've done Detroit I've spent the nights at the Mariott at the airport. It's around $45 a night (bid $36 for starters) through Priceline.com's "Name Your Own Price". With housing secured, one then gets to hop around from club to club on their mini vacation. While there are many clubs, I'd start with what has been the best: day shift at The Penthouse Club.

Really?!? She still works there? The money at that club must've been better than I thought. That said, I think you were spared; you should take the same sum (and maybe a little more) and head for Detroit. For one, The Penthouse Club would put Heartbreakers to shame.

It would also drown out 'dancer drama' if it surfaces on the main floor. Or management putting the squeeze on a customer who a dancer reported as shorting her. Or a customer calling a dancer a ROB., etc.
That said, the volume level at most clubs is a typical loud. Columbia's Platinum Plus often takes it to another level of auditory oppression.

And to think awhile back a dancer wanted my cell number just so she could call and say hi. That was the realization I had "made her evening"...

$3/24 = 12.5 cents per bottled water. Likely much cheaper cost to the club than any other beverage. I suppose, since when I've often been at those chains I've spent $100 to $150 (plus cover and $10 VIP bracelet) on VIP dances on average, that I should make it known they're getting their money that way from me. The problem is, due to the dancers either being holed up in the lockerroom or busy with other customers, hanging out at the club occurs. Indeed, with the various TVs about it's encouraged.
I can get get better food & drink prices at a regular bar and hang out without being harassed, and tip just a portion of what I'm saving to my server and they're practically in love because it's a far bigger tip than what other customers give. In fact, last time in my waitress recognized me as a good tipper and made a point to make me up a fresh brew of iced tea. A small gesture, but indicative of her appreciation. In fact, while I ate she sat in the booth next to me and I'm sure, had I asked her to wipe my mouth with a napkin after every bite, she would have done so with a smile!

Okay, so why then do neighborhood bars continue to go on decade after decade without high-priced drinks or cover charges? Yet strip clubs are well-known for cover charges, high-priced drinks, sometimes a VIP entry bracelet charge, etc.? And then some Detroit clubs order their waitresses to hound a customer to "buy the lady a drink" whenever a dancer sits with a customer (dancer doesn't get a share (fyi) but is required to sell so many drinks per shift.)
And a favorite pet peeve is being charged $6.75 for a bottled water when a store will sell it for $3 for a case of 24. $6.75 is the charge for a bottle of domestic beer at the clubs I'm thinking of.

Was at a regular bar last night and received way too much of a Lady Gaga wanna be (many wardrobe changes throughout the evening.) At one point my friend squeezed by her to tell his buddies in the current band (on stage) goodbye and she told him he had been in her space long enough. He ignored her, which may not have been wise because another gal commented she had a razor blade in one of her hands. Then another gal next to me later said she (crazy blonde) had stripped and danced naked on stage last year. Well, that didn't happen this time. Finally found out later, when she tried to sell us some of her jewelry, that she's an artist, so all of the above is okay. [She must've been attracted by the all-you-can-eat Hostess Cupcakes and Twinkies the bar had on their buffet! Never seen THAT before in my life...]

Impressive list, Sam. I'm sure lots of R&D went into it.
And I'd agree, I'd start (and hopefully end) with The Penthouse Club in Detroit.

Hadn't clicked through your pics in awhile, Player. I think I'd remove "Shelly", and the photo of the car. But the gal posing in the doorway with the label "Afternoons OTC can be fun" is the winner. More of her and less Shelly.

HA! The Detroit clubs hound one to buy, buy, buy! And if a dancer sits with you, rest assured the T-1000 has seen it and is on the way to ask "Would you like to buy a drink for the lady?"

I've seen a dancer have her friends shower her when she's on stage. At least $50 in $1s when she did her trade mark booty shaking. The club was fairly crowded and it did draw attention, so a smart marketing gimmick on her part. But since I was seated next to her sister and her boyfriend I knew it was staged.
