Some clubs seem to be very clean and nearly unbelievable in their operation. Yes, these are not in the middle of the so called bell curve.
Other clubs certainly live up to the reputation, if not more so. These are not in the middle of the bell curve either.
Then there are those with the mixed apples - some good, some bad - in the middle of the bell curve.
The US news media is kind of, well, biased. Some are known to be far right, some are known to be far left, some are known to be red, other's blue... heck, some are as grey as Anderson Cooper's hair.
I guess what I am saying, is if anyone does a story - it is anecdotal to the industry. Some clubs one never hears about or from. They are good clean clubs. Others are on the news every month or two. It is hard to use one club to describe all of them. It is like used car places - some are much better than others. That said, most news organizations don't try to play up the other clubs as bad as the one they are focusing on.
Some movies portray dancers outstandingly, like the wife of the character played by Will Smith (Vivica Fox) in "Independence Day" - definitely a tent pole movie. Some a little more fun, such as Demi Moore in "Striptease."
Anyhow, movies are full of strip club portrayals.
Bloggers - they can offer up opinion (and agenda), and boy do they. They enjoy stereotypical wide brush portrayals.

I knew a gal who, every hour, would go around the room and ask each and every person, even within a group, if they wanted a dance or not. She got a lot of rejection, but she also got a lot of dances. A LOT of dances, by my count one night. I'll admit it, I was impressed by her determination.

I have met many ethical dancers. There was the one who did a DJ called 2 for 1 dance. I paid her for both dances. She said it was only the cost of one and I told her she did two dances so I paid for two dances. There were other scenarios too where they did me right. Definitely more ethical than some main stream businesses I interacted with.
Only one dancer did I ever get the heebie jeebies from. That one... she was not bad or troubled or angry. She was evil. I don't know how to describe it. I knew she was empty and she was dangerous. She was a different bottle of whiskey that one.

I'll be sure to do that the next time I am in D.C. I'll keep it in a leg holster while looking that piece of parchment over. Of course, I will have to shift aside the fourth amendment to fly there, not to mention my first amendment of wearing an "Allah Is Great" T-Shirt on the plane.

The dangers of getting drunk in a strip club. Inebriation is vulnerability. Better to be drunk around friends who will at most, write on your face with marker. Better yet, don't get drunk at all. The world preys on the drunkard.

I guess I don't have many pet peeves about stuff I have no problem saying "No thank you" to and I expect deep conversation. It's stuff like the music volume that bothers me. I got sick of coming out of clubs with my ears ringing.

The sad fact about bathroom trolls, is that 1) people have been pick pockets while standing at the urinal. This is to stop that. 2) people have been jerking off in the bathroom. This is to stop that. 3) people been inviting strippers into the bathroom and yes, the stripper came along. This is to stop that. 4) couples come in and want to get romping on each other. This is to stop that.
So whats a club to do? Announce there is monitoring in the bathroom. Kinda creepy. Assign the FNG (fucking new guy) to the bathroom with some mints for sale (that could easily be sold at the bar or food location?).

I am glad you are giving up smoking. My dad has smoked for 50+ years too. Almost to that point of needing oxygen, yet he keeps on going. Surely will blow himself up one day when the oxygen comes to be needed.
