OP: Help is just a phone call away 😛
"In this satirical infomercial, the comedian and actress Niecy Nash plays the inventor of a new hotline, 1-844-WYT-FEAR. The video advertises a phone service for white people to call when they can’t cope with black people living their lives near them. The hotline is up and running, so give it a ring and spread the word. (Seriously.)
The actress says the phone line is designed to save white people “all the headaches of being filmed and outed as a racist douche.”

Colin Kaepernick simply echoes abolitionist Frederick Douglass' incendiary "What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?" delivered 168 years ago on July 5, 1852, in Corinthian Hall, Rochester, New York, addressing the Rochester Ladies' Anti-Slavery Society. https://tuscl.net/discussion.php?id=72733
If Colin pisses you off this much you'll be apoplectic after listening to Douglass' dependents read his speech. 😛

Cool Cat in the Valley
From SJG on TestosteroneLifeBoat: These posts by SJG on his website are the most relevant NOT those he sent to herbcat specifically to re-post on TUSCL.
They describe how the covid lockdown severely disrupted his life and more importantly impaired his coping skills so much that he opens up here about his distress now and in the past. Note he admits this the opposite of his usual 'no personal disclosure rule' = "first of all, I never take questions about my affairs. I rarely even offer much"

This shelter in place order hit me like a sledge hammer.
How first of all, I never take questions about my affairs. I rarely even offer much. But what has just happened forced some changes, so the post is past.
1. My public office is gone.
2. My residence is screwed up and will change.
My public office was a retail operation I was a principle in. We got shut down by the shelter in place order.
My residence was communal. Not good during this kind of an order.
So I was offered a chance to hide out in the mountains, in a shack, no electricity, telephone, or internet.
But as a that time I though I had COVID-19, I took it, and I slept for over a week. Two weeks there total.
Today, I am not sure about COVID-19, but it does not matter.
I let people make an in kind buy out of my share in the retail op. They need to marshal their resources to make it pull through.
So I will have a new office and a new living space soon. Now I am in a trasitional space, another associate, the people who will make up my organization.
Never wanted to live like a bourgeois. Especially not after my divorce. Still inspired by the super cute black girl I was making out with at New Century.
So lots are changing, and for the better. I am not alone, I have partners, colleagues, comrades, something I never had while married.

This is not a time to be moving about. My living, private office, and public office situations, are tied down. BUt not implemented. I am getting web access via a friends retail biz. TUSCL is on an adult site list and blocked. I have to be gracious, so I don't say anything.

Manic thinking, it happens some times. Like try to think about X1, but thoughts get invaded by X2, X3, ... Xn.
I think what is happening is that one's world view is changing, and so one needs to re-evaluate all kinds of past experiences and plans. I see this as positive.
Most extreme time was when I graduated from college, last final exam. Supposedly studied all night, but I was unable to sleep or study. All just thinking.
I had always wrote HP Calculator programs to do the math. So I sat down for the 3 hour exam. Had it all done in about 20 minutes. Went around the programs and checked my work by pressing the buttons manually. Looked it all over again. Nothing to do. 40 min past, turned it in. Aced it and got an A for the entire class.
BUt the real question was, what was I to do with my life next, and this was what all the manic thinking was about. Everything changed.
This corona shelter order, destroyed my living and working set up. New arrangements set, but can't really implement until things go back to normal.

/Republicans are talking about running away from Trump if his numbers don't improve by Labor Day.
^ and run to who? Biden and the squad?/
"Another anti-Trump group that will be attacking Trump and incumbent Republican senators this summer is The Bravery Project, which is being launched by former GOP Rep. Joe Walsh [...] According to McClatchy, Walsh is targeting Trump in battleground states like Arizona, Florida, Michigan and North Carolina.
***Walsh told McClatchy, “Trump has to lose, and every Republican senator up for reelection has to lose because they’ve enabled (him). Do I want the Democrats to take control of the Senate? No, but I have no choice. To me, these Republicans like Martha McSally and Thom Tillis and Susan Collins have breached their office.”
Walsh continued, “It means the Democrats will be in control of D.C., and they will try to push policies I disagree with. That will leave someone like me fighting against their policies. I don’t look forward to that, but that will be the necessary result.”***
And from The Lincoln Project: "The incumbent GOP senators The Lincoln Project has been attacking with its ad buys include Arizona’s Martha McSally, North Carolina’s Thom Tillis, Iowa’s Joni Ernst and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
***Jennifer Horn, who is now an adviser to The Lincoln Project and formerly served as chair of the New Hampshire GOP, told McClatchy that such senators are “the only…. human beings who had the authority and the ability to keep this president in check constitutionally and politically — and every one of them made a conscious decision to not do so. The only way to make sure that Trumpism doesn’t continue to rule the Republican Party for years to come is to make sure that we defeat not only the president, but those people who have enabled him.”***
So yeah, Papi, real, conservative Republicans are seeking to re-establish the party by getting rid of current GOP officeholders and their slavish, fearful devotion to an antisocial-narcissistic autocrat.

A few times I've started out at 'Start A Discussion In Political Discourse' but ended up with the post in the default front room.
Wish I could give you enough info to replicate this. But happens too infrequently and unexpectedly that I don't remember the exact sequence. Each time it usually has involved shifting focus away from comment box to retrieve a link or image. Then back to the new post comment box. Still, I've done this same sequence successfully...clicked on post comment and ended up in political forum as intended. ???
Or maybe just a confirmation box after post click saying 'Your new post will appear in the [front room, VIP, ....Political] forum with a n option to change destination forum.

'It doesn’t take much to get you outraged, Joker" 😁
Q: What makes you think I'm outraged?
A: Rigid paranoid thinking consumed with bitter anger over a chosen scapegoat --terrible leftists -- cannot conceive of anyone thinking differently. Also, as I said repeatedly paranoids are so thin-skinned they cannot see humor. It's something Mark and SJG share despite their superficial 'political' differences.
In fact, I found this article extremely funny. This pretend Christian is so ridiculous in his beliefs it's impossible to be irked let alone full-on outraged.
There are numerous similar articles about hypocrite christians and griffting scamvangelists on this site.
Guess I need to post more of them for Mark's 'edification' 😁

With a lot of effort to improve his slapdash, rambling prose and questionable transitions he might have earned a Paul Joseph Goebbels propaganda merit badge. He already shows the ability to present twisted, strained logic and gutsy statements of unadorned, outright lies.
[The Hitler Youth was the youth organization of the Nazi Party in Germany. Its origins dated back to 1922 [...] From 1933 until 1945, it was the sole official boy's youth organization in Germany and was partially a paramilitary organization; it was composed of the Hitler Youth proper for male youths aged 14 to 18, and the German Youngsters in the Hitler Youth for younger boys aged 10 to 14] Wikipedia

Kansas/Missouri........FWIW
Today, Kansas Gov. Kelly [D] ordered Kansans [again] to use masks in public spaces, setting stage for another fight with the Republican-dominated KS legislature. Order, if it stands, would potentially affect all KS clubs statewide
Missouri - No statewide order but cities allowed to impose restrictions. A few days ago KC mayor re-instituted mandated mask use in public spaces. This directly affects three clubs located downtown:
Bazookas - which had not yet re-opened since original lockdown in March; rumored re-open in July [postpone again??]
Temptations - which has re-opened w/ reported lax enforcement of distancing
Shady Lady [topless bar] - which had re-opened
Not sure about nearby MO-side clubs outside KC jurisdiction.

"I guess you could say "What if CNN and the other networks covered Trump like the covered Obama" too."
Two answers
#1.) You could say that.......about CNN, MSNBC, ABC, etc., but media bias isn't a zero-sum game. If you 'prove' every other news source is "biased" you still have Fox demo-ing obvious favoritism by this comparison.
#2.) You missed the point...did any of you actually watch the clip.......or do the usual TUSCL-two-step of reading the title or last post and commenting while missing the real topic meaning.
The video clip highlights NOT FOX BIAS but FOX blatant HYPOCRACY. Every criticism of Obama applies equally or more so to Trump but Fox personalities are .................silent.
Irony: Fox, with the exception of its few decent, real journalists, set out to be a propaganda mouthpiece for GOP and then for Trump.
Now that reality seeps into Trump's brain via FOX polls and Fox muted criticism of the Narcissist in Chief, Trump is pissed off at even FOX News. In the words of the indefatigable pin-head Sarah Palin --'how's that workin' for ya' FOX.

The NYT article is a solid piece of journalism. But it may be like some Watergate era stories that were later found to contain small errors or unwarranted conclusions. It provides an opportunity for some True Believers to use the paranoid trick of nitpicking details to deny the overwhelming context:
Watergate - Nixon was a paranoid crook who misused his power to attack his political opponents as if they were enemies; Trump as a life-long
antisocial-narcissistic character disorder misuses his power to defend his unwarranted, exaggerated sense of importance, enrich himself and family at taxpayer expense, and to attack his legitimate critics as if they were enemies rather than defenders of the rule of law.
*****
Catherine Belton's new book, 'Putin’s People: How the KGB Took Back Russia and Then Took On the West' primarily traces the rise of Putin to Russia's leader and his unbending mission. It is an entirely separate source from the NYT article. Trump only appears briefly as a sideshow...as a high-profile useful idiot corrupted and bent to Putin's mission by Putin's oligarch 'pals'.
And Putin's mission since the 1980's:
Belton argues that Putin has never been “bent” from his mission to restore the power of the KGB, which once seemed to have been consigned to history alongside the Soviet Union. And she traces the careers of Putin and his associates from mid-level spies in the 1980s, through the upheaval of the 1990s, to the very top of Russian politics and business. They have forged a system, Belton argues, that uses the KGB playbook to keep a tight grip on power, manipulate hundreds of billions of dollars in money flows, and spread Russian influence deep into the West.
Even if the NYT article is ultimately discredited there is ample evidence from Belton, David Cay Johnson, and other Trump critics that Trump & family are financially dependent on Russian oligarch money and ultimately on Putin. The so-called 'pee tapes' are just a sideshow spectacle; narcissistic Trump sees himself above common morality and shame and would never be upset by their release except as it threatens his desire to retain power.
