I remember as a young traveler being on a flight probably close to 30 years ago - a time when the majority of pilots were former military and some were likely still Vietnam era trained
Instead of a slow steady descent and smooth landing it felt like we dropped from the air and boom hit the runway hard. The guy next to me, an older experienced flyer, looked at me, smiled and said “you can always tell the difference between Air Force and Navy trained pilots”
Not sure if there’s any truth to that but I always think about that when there’s a less than smooth landing

“The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much.“

I have 3 lives: Work, Dog Shows and Strip Clubs
Interesting you mentioned Japanese vehicles and rust - For the past 30 years I’ve only driven “Japanese” vehicles although I use that term loosely.
Toyota Camry - built in Kentucky
Acura - built Japan
Lexus - built in Canada
Put a ton of miles on all 3 vehicles driving in harsh Midwest winters with heavily salted roads and never had any significant rust issues with any of the 3

You didn’t ask for other options - but why not consider a Lexus? Unless you want high speed performance and gadgets - and I’m guessing not since you mentioned Subaru and Volvo - the quality and dependability of a Lexus easily outdistances BMW. You will save many thousands of dollars in maintenance costs. And you’ll hit $250k miles with little effort.

“If you need to ask about gas usage for boat”
I’ve never heard that phrase before but I love it! You could use that a lot in the TJ forum. People will go out of their way to travel to San Diego yet get frugal about spending a few bucks for the best way to get the fun zone

They never tell you what you need to know.
This “lifestyle” is expensive. The “founder” of the old Michigan TwoSheds board once wrote one of my favorite quotes of all time.
“Money rules in strip clubs. All others can eat shit”.
I think most of us are older guys who have carefully accumulated wealth overtime. We are are careful to spend on activities outside of clubs in order to have plenty of capital to enjoy ourselves in this hobby.
Not to get political is this thread - but I think that’s why we skew conservative. We worked and fought for what we have and never expected favoritism or handouts. We had a goal of what we wanted out of life and made it happen.

The Tanga Lounge in Tampa (with the plastic orange chairs)
Some people say a “10” does not exist but I met the most beautiful girl here I have ever seen in a strip club. First night - she wasn’t a dancer. She desperately needed money and came with a friend to work. I danced multiple dances with her. I could tell she wasn’t super comfortable but she didn’t hold back getting fully nude and and allowed the same level of touching as regular dancers.
Perfect size (and real) tits. Killer body. She just needed to loosen up a bit.

And furthermore, if one considers the schools they both went to
RFK we to UVA which has a 98% exam pass rate
Kamala went to U of California which has an 85% exam pass rate
Neither performed to the level of their education. Can we conclude RFK was admitted by his name recognition and Kamala by affirmative action?
The poor schools really drag down the state average. The illustrious Thomas Cooley Law School in Michigan only has a 45% pass rate.
I don’t know that the bad law schools are In Massachusetts - but I suspect they are pulling down the scores or Mass has an exceptionally difficult test

“Really not hard to study and pass a bar exam?”
You’re probably right…I just wanted to take a shot at Kamala and Bobby Junior.
But on the other hand….isn’t Kim Kardashian studying for the bar without going to law school? We will see if she passes

I don’t mind him being elected - I certainly have enjoyed much of his music. But the R & R HOF certainly has a loose criteria for election. They don’t need to elect someone every year - make it like Cooperstown where it’s actually tough to get in
Too much pop and Hip Hop in recent years

I’m surprised he made it to 90
Well done and well deserved
It’s probably unfortunate, but what I remember most are his legal battles with the IRS. I think he owed tens of millions of dollars Holy crap how do you get that far underwater to the government

I heard his name mentioned on radio the other day but wasn’t really paying attention so didn’t realize he had passed.
Actually, for some reason I thought he had passed away already

To be honest, I don’t know a whole about about RFK Jr except he’s an extreme tree hugger. But geez, can’t the Dems at least nominate someone he wasn’t a heroin addict.
And between Kamala and RFK they aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer. It really isn’t that hard to study and pass a bar exam

Saw an article the other day - not making judgments either way - just thought it was interesting
A Door Dash driver says he declines 70% of all orders. If people don’t tip upfront or don’t enough he won’t pick up an order.

Many articles I read referred to Springer as the “Godfather of Reality TV”
I never though of his show as reality TV, just a talk show on steroids and never believed for a minute that the fights were real. To me the first reality shows were either Survivor or some of the MTV stuff
His show began as a political commentary show with guests such as Jesse Jackson but things changed in the second season to boost ratings.
One of the most interesting things that came about was the security guard / fight-breaker-up guy Steve Willkos got his own show and it’s still running today after 17 years. I’ve never watched it but figured he was just a roided up big lug

They never tell you what you need to know.
On a side note, a friend of mine recently went to the dentist for a cracked molar who referred him to an oral surgeon - he quoted $7500 for the extraction and an implant. And that doesn’t include the crown from his regular dentist which will likely be another $1500 to $2500 at least.
$10k seems rather excessive. Apologies if any dentists are on here. Implants are probably the way to go for a young person but for a guy in his mid 60’s I told him to explore cheaper options such as a bridge
