A couple of adages: 1. Nothing that involves human beings is ever a sure thing, and most of life is 6 to 5 against 2. Always start with the Brazilians

Electronman: sorry. Fully clothed off stage, technically topless on stage, nude in private.

Skibum is right, as usual. Imagine my surprise when I found out my wife couldn't cook either. James: who are you calling boobs?

It sounds like Cheaters / Wild Zebra / Atlantis, although I'm surprised their licences are still intact.

$40 + $100 is the nominal fee for 15 minutes. As far as I know, there's only one dancer who won't insist on substantially more, and it sounds like he found her.

Will lap dance prices keep rising?
There's a perverse incentive in the club's cut of the price. Switching from $5 to $10 per dance doubles the club's cash. As long as volume falls by less than 49%, the club is better off, and dancers are worse off. There are offsetting changes: dancers can absorb some or all of the difference, customers can switch to 15 minute deals, but no matter how you slice it, there's a fundamental conflict between what's good for dancers and what's good for the club.

Same old place, now with hotter dancers
I see by the club description that they're now asking $35 per lap dance, which means I tipped negative five dollars. Somehow this doesn't make me feel as good as I thought it might.

Keep it in my pants when I do OTC. If I were a stripper it would stand for I like big bucks and I can not lie.
It's a cross-cultural phenomenon
I've had similar experiences. They very quickly adapt to upscale restaurants if you give them the chance.

Judging Reviews That Say The Club Sucks
I generally agree with the OP, but I sometimes see a purely negative review that's long on invective and short on facts. If I knew the club, and the review seems unreasonable, I reject it for the same reason I would reject a shill review: the reviewer has an agenda that isn't about informing me.

One of the most pathetic sites at a club
I don't know about your guy, but I always walk into a club prepared to spend significantly more than I usually do, in case I get an offer that's too good to refuse. I also take care not to look rich. On the evidence, the only thing that keeps me from meeting your test for pathetic is that I couldn't explain an ATM charge.

what do younger customers want?
∆ beat me to it. Fifty years ago I was broke and had all the time in the world. Now I have no prospect of living long enough to spend it all. If you want a guaranteed response from a young guy, memorize the following sentence: "The first one is free."

Too much of a good thing is never enough
Exclusive focus on strip clubs? Exclude legal brothels and massage parlors?
There are 3400 US clubs on this site. 3300 of them are of no interest to me, but that's not a reason to exclude them. It's easy to ignore listings you don't want. It's impossible to see listings that would be censored because Electronman didn't like them.

Layoffs 2024
The Bureau of Labor Statistics says 1.5 million people were laid off or fired in April. That's a little below average for the last 12 months. Your pessimism may be right, but your friend's anecdote doesn't support it.

Language barriers at the strip club.
I hate to sound like a stereotypical old coot, but you should have been here twenty years ago. The Pew Trust estimates that from 1990 to 2005, the US was gaining about 600,000 unauthorized immigrants per year. From 2005 to 2021, we lost a net average of 100,000 a year. (I couldn't find more recent data.). Chelsea Massachusetts was one of the first sanctuary cities, and the strip club there saw a steady stream of hot young South Americans starting their careers. There's now nothing remotely comparable within my club orbit. Does language matter? Absolutely! I speak Portuguese probably about at the level of a slow fifth grader, but that's enough to get me unrefusable offers from most Brazilians on the second dance. Spanish is taught in high schools, or was in my day, so if you can't speak that, it's on you. Learn some, and ask the hottest Latina in the room to help you improve. It'll change your life.

Book Guy
I write it like I mean it, but mostly they just want my money.
What accounts for Good or Bad Strip Club Culture in a City?
@Book guy: congratulations on starting an interesting discussion. My bet would be on police corruption and economic inequality. Providence has a long tradition of felonious city officials. Buddy Cianci served 21 years as mayor, interrupted by a kidnapping conviction, after which he was reelected. Providence, incidentally has only about 5% more people than Shreveport. As to economic inequality, I remember Mark Twain saying something like,"when a man with money sits down next to a man with experience, the man with experience gets money, and the man with money gets experience."
