I concur that city limits / metro area skew these stats. Little ol' Springfield, OR has 2 clubs, population 62,000. That's over 3 per 100K. Two years ago there were 4 clubs.

I do. But I don't pay for it. My Dad retired from working at the local paper, one benefit was paper for life. He died, but his last address was mine and it's still coming every day. Also NYT online.

Well, don't then. I don't either (though I might in certain circumstances.) The virus doesn't know, or care. A virus has 2 choices (only), infect or die. It is unlikely to infect you or me. Live long and prosper.
