Rick Dugan there is nothing deficient about today's young people, nothing they should receive remedial instruction about.
Tetradon, your definition of capitalism is a small part of the story. It is also a system which requires expansion out to infinity, to solve the problems it creates. Eventually people realize that that kind of power cannot be left to private parties, it has to be taken by an elected government. And usually though to make this change it will require gun barrels. But not always. Sometimes it can be done via the ballot box, which is what I hope for.
Mike710, Your narrative near the start of this thread. What you are describing is economic hardship, having to float bill payment with credit cards. People graduate from college, having had to work hard and live cheap, they expect more than that. They expect that they have staked themselves into the middle class, which has historically meant home ownership, and usually a wife and family. What you are describing is very widely true, but it is not what people had been led to expect, it is not what we should be basing our policy around.

Inflation is really currency devaluation. And it can come to feed on itself.
We might have seen the worst of it, but no one really knows.
More of Biden's package has been passed now. But we want the whole thing, with the Green New Deal and with the upper income tax hikes. We need to use this to cut back the amount of currency on the table.
And Biden's plan is actual economic activity, paying jobs and business opportunities, so this will make a big difference.
Printing vast amounts of money for the COVID bail out was iditic, but we can get it back by upper income and large portfolio taxes.

I don't think it is because of the girls' SOs. If that restrained them they would not be in that situation with you. It has something to do with how you are stimulating them and how you are relating to them.
You should not be a strip club regular. You select a girl there, regardless of what happens, you try to get her outside ASAP.
And then when you are meeting them, try to interact and get intimate in the front room. Save the backroom until needed, like when your pants are to come down.

We have an economic system which has been broken since the 1870's when the demand for labor started to drop. It will continue to drop every year.
Putting more people into Welding Programs does not alter this.
As we don't need the labor, if people want to major in Gender Studies, all the better.
The remedy is Universal Basic Income, Strong Public Housing Offering to contain private gentrification, Medicare for All, Free College with past college debts being pushed onto higher income and high portfolio tax payers.

I think those places are set up to be all things to all people. The biggest variable is how long you want to stay with a girl. And of course it is negotiated with her. But if you pay the room fee, then it should just be between you and the girl. No one else should be getting into the middle of it.
And Tester, you are doing a herculean job of it, testing these places by finding out what the limits are, and then reporting back. We want to restore these venues to what they had been, and that will only happen by putting economic pressure on them by switching to other hotels for a while.

California Governor Gavin Newsom is pushing through his Care Courts legislation, special courts to subject the unhoused to involuntary psychiatric procedures and internment, and to subject them to conservatorship if they do not cooperate with a "treatment plan".
This focus on mental health and coercion is being led by Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg, who himself designated his 13yo daughter as scapegoat and put her into the psychiatric system and into an out of state institution.
So today at the age of 27, she believes that she has a mental illness, bipolar. And the system needs bipolar because with the way schizophrenia has been conceived, it is hard to imagine it in an adolescent.
And the system also needs autism, because with the way bipolar and schizophrenia are conceived, it is hard to imagine them in a pre-adolescent child.
And Care Courts is also being championed by State Senator and co-author Susan Eggman, whose family also designated someone as scapegoat and put her into the psychiatric system until she died while unhoused.
Steinberg has centered his entire political career on mental health and he has set up a mental health institute, headed by Thomas Insel.
Insel always explains that he is Gavin Newsom's mental health advisor.
Insel seems to want everyone to be regulated by medication. And he has medications which produce the euphoria of sex, and he promotes LSD in the name of mental health. He also has a startup company, Mindstrong, which will have people using their cell phones to, while medicated, check in with their therapist for auditing.
As the Republican Party will move people to come to the polls by talking about crime, immigration, and abortion, the Democratic Party has learned to talk about mental health to achieve the same ends. And no one seems to know how to answer this yet, because the pitch is that they are helping the helpless. So at state level now, California has come very close to being a one party state.
As advanced industrial and information technology has decimated the demand for labor, we have designated a large slice of the population as suitable for internment and drugging, turning poverty and homelessness into mental illness. And we have designated another slice as the caretakers, the mental health and social workers. And as these vote, the Democratic Party and its mental health doctrine goes unchallenged.

So Deleuze and Guattari are clear that clinical mental illness is created in the mental health system, its the drugs and its the talk therapy.
But they do say that there is one genuine mental illness, Neuroticism, and it is incurable and it is fatal.
Well, Dabrowski decimates the conventional notions of mental health. He describes that as psychoneurosis.
His idea of Positive Disintegration is something which is happening on multiple levels simultaneously. So there is always intense flux.
And it is always the disintegration of biologically determined and social conformity drive structures. So there is this biologically determined mental development.
Then there is this autonomous mental development, which is what we want. Transends the demands of biology and social norms.
Then there is also this one-sided mental development which is anti-social. It is egocentric and manifests in crime and paranoia.
Dabrowski takes apart the views that Mental Health is the absence of mental disorders or is a state of psychological integration.
Dabrowski's ideas revolve around his concept of Overexcitability.
He writes in 1970:
"
[Overexcitability] first provokes conflicts, disappointments, suffering in familily life, in school, in professional life--in short, it leads to conflicts with the external environment. Overexcitability also provokes inner conflicts as well as the means by which these convlicts can be overcome. Second, overexcitability precipitates psychoneurotic processes, and, third, conflicts and psychoneurotic processes become the dominant factor in accelerated development.
"
Dabrowski called a lot of this "positive infantilism" or "positive immaturity", and this is all associated with creativity and accelerated development.
And so inner conflicts and frustrations are inherent in positive disintegration. And so one with high developmental potential will become more introspective, more aware of possible choices and consequently, more conscious of different levels--higher and lower--in his or her feelings, thoughts and behavior. In his or her feelings, thoughts, and behavior. In these internally and often externally tumultuous conditions, such an individual "introduces into his life a new controlling factor, where higher feelings [being to control] the lower forms of instinctual, emotional and congnitive functions".

Brain Chemical Imbalance is a myth, a very harmful myth. Everyday people in vulnerable circumstances are being convinced of this, and hence led into distrusting their own feelings, and often having their brain chemistry come under attack.
And this is true as California Governor Gavin Newsom is setting up special courts to subject people to involuntary psychiatric procedures.
And behind this are people like Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg who put his own daughter into the psychiatric system at the age of 13, and State Senator Susan Eggman whose family also put someone into the psychiatric system.
And then Thomas Insel, Newsom’s Mental Health Czar, who seems to want everyone to be on medications to regulate and normalize them. And he also has drugs which make people feel the euphoria of sex, and also LSD. And his Mindstrong start up will have people on drugs, checking in with their therapist via their cell phone for something which looks a lot like Scientology's Auditing.
Whereas Republicans talk about crime, immigration, and abortion, Democrats have learned to counter this by taking about mental health. At the state level CA is just about a one party state, because no one has learned to counter this. Newsom, Steinberg, Eggman, and Insel make it all sound so compassionate.

My take on this:
The US semiconductor industry blew it 40 years ago in the move from the 16K DRAM to the 64k.
There were a number of US and Japanese firms in the race. The Japanese won.
As I read about it back then, there were modelling errors being used in the simulations. The guy who wrote about this was Canadian. I do not remember his name. Maybe someone here knows. He was very well known.
He explained, "There were some basic assumptions made, and the assumptions were wrong. But 95% of the people involved in this effort and doing the simulations did not even know what these assumptions were."
Well that is group think, Strivers, FratBoys, who do things like that.
So the Japanese won. They got the 64k DRAMs and it was only much later that the US firms had something. But then by the next move, 256k, there was no US offering.
This was when the US Semiconductor Firms blew it, and they did it with FratBoys and Stivers.
It was not until Micron started, specifically to address this, that things changed.
Now in the decades since there have been many cycles of change. Some huge fabs going up in Asia. US Venture Capitalists pulling back, and this seems to have helped. But lots of US design houses going fabless.
We need to reverse this.
We need the semiconductor and other solid state technologies for commerce. And we all need them for defense because there is now beginning a huge wave of defense investment in high tech weapons, starting from these Javelin Missiles which are winning the war in Ukraine, and then with the drones.
And what could be going down in Asia could require hypersonic smart weapons and anti-missile missiles. We cannot be bullied by Russia, or by China.

First of all, that is the decision to make for those who would do it. Going to college is not always better for everyone.
Now the costs, I agree the costs have already become completely absurd, and this needs to be redressed.
FWIW, the organization I am building will offer an alternative to conventional secondary education and the costs will be modest.
We should not be putting public money into conventional universities without substantial reform.
Anyone getting told they should take on debt or draw down a nest egg to go to college is being conned. We will not do that. We will always work with people to have some kind of pay as you go work study plan, and the costs will be very modest.
Conventional college is mostly a con job. But people still need some kind of secondary education.
Usually a mix of work and study is best.
Stivers pack all kinds of schools and fields. They care little about what they would learn or what they would do. They only care about social conformity and approval. They don't bust their asses, they only work to get money to play and retire. They work so that they don't have to work anymore.
I am just a guy with a privacy wall so that I don't have to get shoulder bruises from shot gunning so many trolls.
