I'd rather not have the insatiable desire for variety that drives hobbying. Like my friends who married the only woman they ever dated, some of which admit they haven't received a blowjob in 20+ years and don't miss it, live in a state of blissful ignorance. That genie is way out of the bottle. I'd rather not have had the strict Catholic upbringing that made sex forbidden fruit and contributed to that desire to transgress. I'd _definitely_ rather not have the bipolar disorder that sometimes drives me to excesses of it. I'd compare it to feeling on a nightmare ride, a roller coaster without the thrill. At one point in 2019, I bought extras for 10 days in a row. It felt more compulsive than pleasurable. But I'm not one to ruminate and regret what-ifs. Despite my mistakes, life is pretty damn good right now, financially and otherwise. My life being what it was, it was natural to be driven to hobbying, and it's given me some great memories. Unless I've exclusively committed to a woman, or I'm drowning in civvie puss (not the case recently), or it's ruining my life in some other way, I don't plan to stop. I might have spent my money differently. Given into fewer pressure pitches. Almost no companies stay at the top for generations--the FAANGs will be the GMs and GEs of the next generation. Interest rates work by starving corporations of liquidity, and with that causing them to lay off, and unemployed people spend less. In all likelihood, this will hit unemployment sooner rather than later. And I'm sure SJG is in Santa Clara County Jail after trying to induct a stray poodle or 4-year-old boy into His Organization.

Democrat side, a sitting president is getting the nod unless they find him with his dick inside a boy or a dog. Everyone else is playing for attention or the next election cycle. Republican side, it's ass early to make predictions because Trump has a formidable capacity to self destruct but he's still showing the best political instincts on their side, realizing a lot of this culture war stuff is distracting garbage. DeSantis is not taking advantage of his spotlight, focusing on Disney and mentally ill children. Haley acts too entitled. Scott isn't differentiating himself. Vivek is likely positioning himself for a Trump cabinet spot and a serious 2028 run. I'd bet on a rematch, and Trump winning now that Biden has an anchor of a record to run on. Trump is leading in an average of polls.

Pointless or actively destructive? I've had too many colleagues over the years about whom I've said "I couldn't tell you what Bob does all day." Good or bad, I just couldn't tell you. And there are the ones like most celebrities who others value but I wouldn't miss for a second if they were gone. Tinder sucks ass. Scammers typically use a ton of well done, probably touched up photos, and are usually fresh off the boat Asian (probably trying to take advantage of white guys with yellow fever). I tip at least 20% at sit-down restaurants, unless the service is complete shit. More if my order is cheap (they're still doing the work), or the server goes out of their way to do a great job. Around holidays, I'll drop a little more, too. But I refuse to tip at coffee shops and fast food restaurants. I fucking hate when they swing the iPad in your direction, with the "no tip" box in red in order to chide you for not tipping. I also hate the "suggested tip" and "automatic tip" boxes. I have a visceral reaction to being hustled. It's a great way to assure I won't tip more than the bare minimum.
