Armageddon hits Downtown DetroitAs an out of state visitor who may be visiting Detroit 2-3 time here shortly this fall, the thoughts and information on the topic are appreciated.
By my unofficial count, there are 3 clubs left in Detroit with private VIPs - Penthouse, Coliseum, and Players. All are on 8 Mile.
Seems the past 3-4 years around the fall there is heat on the clubs. The difference this time seems to be Penthouse was actually forced to close recently for a week around 4th of July, and one of the big clubs (Legends) was forced to remove their private VIP.
Guess my question at this point is was the Penthouse week long closing their slap on the wrist for 2017 and things will remain business as usual until 2018? Or is the hammer literally getting ready to drop on Penthouse and Coliseum here shortly? Part of me would love to believe the Legends hammer was due to them being downtown and what comes with that, and they will leave 8 Mile alone. The flipside to this is you have 2 clubs literally within .5-1.5 miles on 8 Mile within Penthouse - Ace of Spades and Trumpps - that have been forced to remove their private VIPs. The selective enforcement of rules is fascinating. Have had someone tell me Penthouse is big enough to pay any fines or what have you.
Anyway, thanks again for all the updates. Will be following closely before heading up. Guess the good news is there is always Flight Club, and could try out for the first time a couple of the mid-tier clubs like Landing Strip and Cricket, but Penthouse and Coliseum (my favorite this past summer) are pretty easily my 2 favorite clubs.
On the bright side t

stripper fights!Only stripper fight I ever saw was my first visit to Coliseum in Detroit. See the fight was a total downer and buzzkill for me, but maybe that's just me. Have returned to Coliseum many times since and love the club.
Actually, there other time there may have been a stripper fight was my last time at Penthouse Club in Detroit this past summer. I see 3 of the downstairs bouncers sprinting upstairs - which my first thought was a raid was about to take place - but could see the bouncers moving towards the back of the upstairs out of my view. After waiting 2-3 minutes and not seeing officers coming through the doors concluded there had been some sort of fight upstairs.

How Many States Have You Strip Clubbed In?Just 2: Ohio and Michigan
Michigan (Detroit) has spoiled me. Luckily I live within a few hours and dedicate most all of my clubbing there.

Legends in DetroitAgree with the previous 2 comments. I find it pretty difficult to get anywhere quick in Detroit between 4:00 - 7:00; sometimes running into issues earlier and later than that.

Detroit 2AMer.Suppose another equally important factor when leaving a club at 2 AM is the clientele of that club. Late night clientele at clubs like Penthouse and Flight Club (outside of Detroit) are going to be fine. Have never been at Coliseum past 11 PM, but have heard the crowd can potentially get a tad bit rowdy. As for other Detroit clubs - who knows - but can imagine some of them potentially being tough late at night.

Detroit 2AMer.I've left Penthouse at 2 AM and never felt unsafe. You walk out the door and valet is literally right their to take your ticket to get your car. Between 5-6 valet guys, a security guy, and 1-2 bouncers hanging out there are plenty of people right there.
I don't find driving 8 Mile at night to be an issue, but trying to find a gas station to pick up a late night snack for the hotel room can be dicey - even once back in the Livonia area where I stay. My most recent stay last week I did for the first time find a safe late night pocket in Livonia with a McDonalds, Taco Bell, and believe a Speedway which all felt perfectly safe.

Curtains getting removed at 8 Mile clubs?Could this be part of the timing with the Flight announcements recently - i.e. a proactive recruiting stike to dancers bailing Penthouse. If this truly is an 8 mile armageddon then would think the same thing will be happening here shortly at Coliseum.
Will be very interesting to hear how things look when they reopen - either they served their time and curtains stay, or they truly had to change now.

Curtains getting removed at 8 Mile clubs?Dancer #3 has probably only been around a year or so, but is easily one of the hottest dancers I have ever seen there and is incredibly popular. Thinking this would include with the bouncers and would know the scoop - fwiw

Curtains getting removed at 8 Mile clubs?Hmmm. Just received a text from dancer #3:
"They are just shut down for 1 week. Not removing any rooms or anything. This Friday to next Friday will be closed."
This would be in line with dancer #1's timeline, and would insinuate nothing is being done to the VIPs. Then again, we have others reporting a 7 month closing and no more curtains.

Curtains getting removed at 8 Mile clubs?A little more from dancer #2 - basically apologizing for not knowing more. Says she hears rumors from the private rooms being eliminated to the club being permanently shut down. In a sense it's strange these 2 dancers wouldn't know more (they've been around at least 2-3 years), but if this is all coming from a very high level then maybe some things are happening quickly/suddenly.
Have one more text into a dancer and will share if anything new or different from what the other 2 have reported, but otherwise will rely on what others have to add.

Curtains getting removed at 8 Mile clubs?Perhaps this is all something innocent and has nothing to do with the VIPs. Was in Detroit and at Penthouse twice last week and now do remember something. As I was leaving Thursday afternoon around 4:00, there was a guy taking a video of the wall behind the booths on the left hand side as you walk in. What caught my attention to it was someone taking video out in the open like that. Maybe they were painters of some sort - just speculating.

Clothing Options in Detriot clubsAt Penthouse you will see a lot of guys in suits or business casual dress. Others will be in jeans with a collar shirt or dress shorts with a collar shirt.
Coliseum and Flight Club you will see a higher ratio of those in jeans or dressed down a bit.
Have never seen sweatpants in these 3 clubs, and don't believe hoodies are allowed. Last week while at Coliseum saw a bouncer come over to a table and make a guy turn his hat around to face forward and not backwards. Being in a ball cap at Penthouse would look out of place, and overall rarely see them at Coliseum or Flight Club.

Running a tabThe clubs I visit in Detroit have no problem running a tab, but paying cash when I go to leave. Have never had an issue. Lately have been able to go into the clubs I visit and start a tab without having to even give them my card - either the servers have recognized me or have had a server smile and make a comment they can trust me. Cool with me. Have found when I have a tab open, most times they will only charge me once for a diet coke when I've actually had anywhere from 2-4. And it's easier with an open tab buying a dancer a drink rather than dipping into my pocket each time for cash to pay.

The older the stripper= less SS?I personally see no correlation. Have talked with well grounded and intelligent dancers both old and young. Likewise, dancers old and young who are full of SS.
If anything, it's probably the older dancers who are more experienced pulling SS.

Tall vs short dancers - have a pref ?Not a deal breaker either way, but all things being equal short to medium height girls for me.
One thing to keep in mind with dancers is they appear a few inches taller than they really are with their heels.

Key Detriot Clubs from low end to high endAs an out of state visitor, if there was a club I would be curious to try besides Penthouse, Coliseum, and Flight Club, think it would be Legends, Landing Strip, or Cricket.
Have heard from multiple people Bogarts and Henry's are gross inside. Why bother when there are so many better options in the area - maybe that's just me.

Key Detriot Clubs from low end to high endDefinitely not down on Penthouse. May have just caught an off week. In my experience clubbing have come to realize even the top notch clubs can have an off night talent wise.

Key Detriot Clubs from low end to high endIn Detroit this week clubbing and just walked in Coliseum as we speak. The talent Tuesday late afternoon / early evening and Thursday afternoon at Penthouse was not good. Coliseum was solid Tuesday night and Wednesday night - had 6 dancers on stages Wednesday night.
I visit Detroit 4-5 times a year and have only visited Penthouse, Coliseum, and Flight Club. Coliseum right now is probably my fav.

Untypical turn-onsA couple of times have seen dancers wearing non-traditional attire - i.e. one time a sports bra and one time a t-shirt showing underboob - and in both instances thought it was a turnon for some reason. That said, I would have like the dancers regardless what they were wearing so not sure if it was the outfits in those two instances or not.
