I'd say hit the clubs with the best current reviews - per recent reviews Flight Club has been slipping - Penthouse and Criket have been getting solid reviews (one is upscale the other midtier) - then hit other clubs (Henry's, Bogarts) as you have time
I would rank Penthouse over the FC. Read my last couple reviews. Keep in mind you probably want to group the clubs location-ally for your visit to maximize your experience. Landing Strip. Bogarts, HVIII, Cricket and FC are all pretty close to each other. Penthouse, Trummps, Coliseum and Players are all up on 8 mile pretty far north. Also if you want some casino action consider the Greektown walk to Bouzouki and Legends, both pretty good. Again check out the reviews from my four day binge a couple months ago.
Thinking a little more if I HAD to just pick say five clubs regardless of location or cost for someone to visit in the D to get the full monty experience, in order, from high class to low.... I would go with Penthouse-Flight Club-Legends-Cricket-Bogarts. Good Luck
Yeah, I was torn between putting Coliseum or Legends in my five but, I had such a good time lately at Legends and the fact that it's downtown near a Casino I included it.
In Detroit this week clubbing and just walked in Coliseum as we speak. The talent Tuesday late afternoon / early evening and Thursday afternoon at Penthouse was not good. Coliseum was solid Tuesday night and Wednesday night - had 6 dancers on stages Wednesday night.
I visit Detroit 4-5 times a year and have only visited Penthouse, Coliseum, and Flight Club. Coliseum right now is probably my fav.
Definitely not down on Penthouse. May have just caught an off week. In my experience clubbing have come to realize even the top notch clubs can have an off night talent wise.
There is variation by time of day--check the reviews. For instance, Legends is fantastic at night, but empty in the early afternoon. On 8 Mile, Coliseum and Players have solid day shifts; Penthouse is great night and day. Cricket, Henry the VIII, and Bogarts are close together and none have a parking fee/valet, so it's possible to go in, look around and, if needed, move on to the next club with relative ease.
As an out of state visitor, if there was a club I would be curious to try besides Penthouse, Coliseum, and Flight Club, think it would be Legends, Landing Strip, or Cricket.
Have heard from multiple people Bogarts and Henry's are gross inside. Why bother when there are so many better options in the area - maybe that's just me.
Don't have a ton of experience visiting clubs across the country, but the sound systems in the Detroit clubs I visit are top notch. Definitely adds to the experience.
The one curiosity seems to be Legends as there are not enough recent reviews out there, or consistent reports on extras at this club. I have taken some time to dig through posts on another forum that suggests that a good time can be had there. However, a lot of the reports on extras at Legends on said forum seem to go back to last Fall.
I've got plenty of Detroit clubs I need to visit eventually. I may take the plunge and visit Legends some time in the next month, if not for the very reason it is the type of club that caters to my clubbing availability, which is weekends. However, I am a little concerned that the prices for "services" at Legends could be similar to a club like Penthouse.
Legends had a fire and was closed for a good part of a year, that's why the reviews are sparse. I can't give first hand account but I believe the strippers and services are similar to the FC, PH, or Coli. A heads up, it business casual, shorts and t-shirts are turned away. On game day to can get in with team gear on.
You know what clubs to hit and which to avoid. Which ones are good during the day and which are night clubs. Which ones are on the high end and low end.
Did you come down with Alzheimer's or something? You should already know this shit.
