Watch out with the waiters in HK. I do not personally use them if I can help it. Sometimes they try to scam you and bring back change for a $20 with some of the change in dollar coins, and try to see if you don't notice it on the plate.
Also, you're often better off just buying beers from the bartender directly, where you're not even really obligated to tip in my opinion (although I'll sometimes do it anyway).
I know I say this a lot, but a lot of the reviews here on TUSCL about TJ err a bit on the more rookie side to approaching TJ. The good thing is, you'll certainly still have fun that way, but with a proper approach and discipline you can have even more fun and weed out the girls that aren't GFE, etc. (if that's something you seek, and for me, it certainly is). Of course, I just mean that in the sense that they're laid back, not clock watchers, and down for a more intimate session, instead of just vanilla sex.

i dont understand how it is justified, honestly. sure, glad you had fun, but when you get into the range of $3k you really are not getting value for your money in the usa at all whatsoever.

lol $20 per hour would actually be cheap enough that it would be worth it to just have her sit next to you for that much money, but to be honest most of them ask for way more than that in tips for an hour of their time.
In one local club there's a guy who regularly comes in and gives a girl about $400. She tells him he can have unlimited dances from her for the night and she'll stay sitting next to him for the whole night and hang out in general.

Occasionally I am lucky enough to run into women who are among the best in club (sometimes *the* best in my opinion), and still give amazing mileage for lap dances, or even extras. It's happened often enough that I would not proclaim that the hotter girls give lower mileage as a general rule. In fact, I'd say there is no real rule to it. The only consistent way to tell mileage I've found is the vibe I get from the girl during conversation. If she's laid-back, isn't totally pushy to get you into a lap dance you may have a winner. I'm also a firm believer that not every girl is going to give the same mileage to every guy, and a lot of it is in the moment. I've taken shots with girls before and gotten amazing mileage out of it, even things like DFK (which I find super hot and boner inducing) in a club where kissing "isn't allowed." Money talks with strippers, but much like with real checks, if there's even SOME degree of natural chemistry/good vibe, you're gonna get better service. Some may think I'm crazy, but this is what I've observed.

I would say that #4 is very valid.
For best mileage during dances, you should always take a shower right before going out. Put on some nice, but not too intrusive cologne and you should be set.

For me I generally look for a nice balance between quality of dancers (which is combination of looks, personality) and mileage. That doesn't necessarily mean extras but at least good lap dances with proper contact. Then there's clubs that just totally deliver an outrageous value such as those in TJ, and I'd say Hong Kong in TJ is probably the 'ultimate' strip club in North America, even with the annoying waiters and some of the other downfalls.

@mjx01 - you clearly have not been to TJ or don't know much about. There is little to no risk there in getting "kidnapped by one of the cartels."
I've been to TJ many times and it's certainly safe enough in my book. Yes there are scammers there and you certainly should be aware of your surroundings and not flash money around...but these are basics that you would apply going to any somewhat sketchy area, no matter if it is in the US or not.

I know that in some clubs management wants to regulate prices to prevent competition between girls on a price basis - this results in more complaints from the girls, which they're simply trying to avoid.

Overall good tips...but yeah the other thing about standing tip is, at least in the club I frequent that would give the girl the impression that you'd want to go with her for a dance right away, which may not be what you want...
