Establishment Republicans are so taken aback at the level of sheer stupidity exercised by Trump. Won't matter what details Bolton reveals. Trump will retain his solid 35% of the populace.

@JimmyMcNulty You're talking extreme exceptions, not the norm. Though that is very typical in these kind of conversations. The more irrational you are, the lesser the validity of your argument.

Yep. This is exactly whats happening now. I'll say it again. I never thought liberals would be the ones to not make data driven decisions. I thought that was the other party. But boy have liberals gone off a cliff, and they've taken the Democratic Party with them.
I kind of feel bad for Joe Biden. He's obviously loss. He's kind of like that dictator in that old episode of the original Star Trek series. The dictator was an old Star Fleet Captain who was being drugged so that right wing extremist could control him, and therefore the county. The liberals have Joe Biden drugged with their ever changing politics of identity extremism.

I already had a confirmed bout of COVID-19. If I didn't know what it was I'd assumed it a case of the flu that typically get every 3-4 years. Plus it was no wear near the worse flu symptoms I've ever had. I had a case back in 2006 that was way worse. People are treating COVID-19 like it's the black plague.

Coronavirus spread through the military, particularly the Navy, with relative ease. Yet the military reports only about a couple of dozen of COVID-19 deaths. If the United States followed that pattern we would have less than 9,000 COVID-19 deaths.
The truth is that most of the people dying from COVID-19 are in an age group that just generally dies from one disease or another. Or they are morbidly obese and are really dying from that. People keep offering up anecdotal stories, Those are outliers and do not present an accurate picture of the severity of COVID-19.

It's just something to give the impression your doing something about it. Plus you still have idiots demanding face masks and social distancing everywhere, except for crowded protest demonstrations and riots of course.

We're simply going through what we would have gone through without the massive shutdown. That's why it made no logical sense at all. Instead of shutting everything down, you shutdown just enough segments so that hospitals aren't overwhelmed.
But it instead became about trying to actually 'eliminate the virus' itself! Sweden had the correct approach, but it won't be evident for about another six months. We have made horrendous decisions of late. I'm generally a liberal politically. But liberals have become so reactionary and uncharacteristically sensible. They have reached the same tiers of insanity that the Tea Party reached a few years ago.

@ deucestrip On a one-to-one ratio, no. But we are talking tens of thousands of murders in the US, and which black s (black men in particular) share astronomically higher rates of instances. But anyway, the original point of my post was lost days ago. The narrative that the police are larger responsible for the deaths of black men is absurdly false.
You'll notice that the media isn't fact checking that stupid assertion. It's just another example of how the media is bias to present a particular viewpoint. I'm no right-winger(far from it in fact). But have long agreed with their complaint about media bias.

@McNulty - Time for me to jump back in, and your last post is a good entry point. I know of two black women who were killed by black gang members because they protested gang violence. As far as equality of death goes, the death by the gang members is far more severe because of the effect it has on that specific neighborhood/community.
Whatever the consequences of Floyd's death, it had absolutely no effect on my existence as a black man in America. None. Completely inconsequential. However even without living in the neighborhood these slain women lived in, their deaths are consequential to me. So you can only image the effect it has on people with the misfortune to live in those neighborhoods.

Muddy- I'm simply fed up with black folk, dusting under the carpet, the thousands of murders each year in black communities and over-reacting in cases where blacks are killed by the police or by someone white. No other race or ethnicity does this! How the hell do you expect other races/ethnicities to respect you when you don't respect yourself.
Yeah you might see a lot of white people demonstrating and in support of BLM. But that doesnt mean it's out of respect. Instead it's out of sympathy. Just like they might have sympathy for a dog. Sympathy for blacks, yes. Respect No!

Meat72- The lionshare of those deaths are in the course of gunfire and evasion from the police. You omit those from data and the percentage drops considerably. Yet a lot of the conversation nationally (even worldwide in some corners) graphs death by cop as the leading cause of black male deaths in the country.

There's a conclusion people miss. Floyd died from what's generally a non-lethal tactic to bring a suspect under restraint. Absent that tactic, more lethal methods like tasering, batons, chockholds, and of course gunfire. That will only lead more deaths under arrest, not less. You're really causing an increase in deaths you seek to lower.

Blacks not only are responsible for most violent crimes, they also resist arrests at higher rates than any other demographic. Those kind of encounters will invariably result in unfortunate outcomes.

It really is absurd, and ignorant. So after all the thousands of black lives taken by black hoods, the mayor of Washington D.C. decides now that black lives matter. People like that need to stay in their own communities, and not infest better communities with their poison.

I also want to add that the idea of "Black communities", or "Hispanic communities" and "Asian communities" is a misnomer. People say that and conflate say, black neighborhoods with the totality of black people in America.

It is not simply being born into money that influences later wealth and success. It is the business skills, networking, work ethic and discipline passed down from generation to generation. For the majority of single parent, black American families, that mindset is sorely missing and instead reliance on the government cultivated.
That is why you see immigrants opening stores and other businesses in black neighborhoods, and very few black businesses. Unfortunately you can't discuss these things because too many black 'leaders' and white liberals decry them as racist rhetoric. I don't see whites falling into this trap because non-liberal whites don't carry the amount of white guilt that white liberals do. Neither do I see white liberals falling into the trap because unlike white non-liberals, they don't view blacks as 'the lesser'.

As Juicebox stated the UI money is good right now. Democrats are talking about expanding until the end of the year. After all, there is an election coming up. Republicans are sure to block passage in the Senate, and Trump is sure not to sign it. For once the GOP and Trump are the sensible ones.
