I think you nailed it on the head with your experiences. Daytime: not much talent and not worthwhile. Nighttime: Best talent only available to regulars. Much of the best talent don't appear on stage at all or make a token appearance, then disappear into VIP for the night. Not a good club for irregular visitors.

The bottle charge for the expensive room is $350. There is also a $150 room and a $250 room. The $500 is the charge that the girl expects to get. The club lays out the following price structure: $300/hour for the $150 room, $400/hour for the $250 room, and $500/hour for the $350 room. The price for the girl is a cash price. There is a 25% surcharge if paid in credit card. These prices are minimums and non-negotiable. The customer may however tip above the base fee. They have been offering 50% off the room more frequently as business has been very slow. The room fee is actually for purchase of alcohol, and not technically a room fee. You can buy extra bottles during the 50% specials and save them in your locker for another time. They have by far the largest selection of good looking girls in Houston but most of them are used to being paid a lot and are not enthusiastic about getting a few dances, which are $20 a piece. If you want to play, it can hypothetically happen in the expensive room but expect to pay far above $500. Sometimes, if I don't want to spend a lot, it's enough to sit around the stage and ogle top-notch talent. It's still worth it because they have great food and liquor selection, and the ambience is luxurious. If I find a gorgeous girl who is willing to do a few lap dances, that's a bonus. If we hit it off during the dances, I can be persuaded to spend more. Most girls will ask for VIP, but can be put off with a gentle no. Dances are pretty much the same as any Houston club, but usually a little bit tamer. Still there is two-way full contact, and you can touch anywhere except under their g-strings. Also, some but not all girls will do stick-shifting, Russian, and some mouthing over the pants. I have gotten digits from almost all of the girls. Sometimes that's just to arrange meeting in the club, but many will meet outside too. Maybe I am more successful than you were because I am well known here and known as a generous client. The downside is that I usually am not alone for long when I enter the club, so it makes it harder to talk to new talent.

Dances at the St. James have always been $20 outside of VIP.

The quality at Baby Dolls post-Covid is actually higher than it was pre-Covid. Of the girls I talked to, more than half did not live in Dallas and had traveled to Dallas just to work. The reason is that clubs are still closed in most parts of the country. Some of the big talent centers such as Vegas, New York, and LA are all closed.
