Good review, one of the very few approaching this place as a strip club rather than a brothel. As far as that goes, you should also check out Chicago as I've found that the quality of the girls is noticeably lower but your money goes a lot farther there in terms of what happens in the booths.

Thanks for the info... how would you compare the quality of the girls vs. HK? @Papi_Chulo: For the past few years the rate has been roughly 19 pesos to the dollar (+/- 1), so assuming 20:1 is going to be roughly right and it's easy to remember.

Agree. It's a big adjustment to orient yourself in a different country with a different language if you haven't traveled much. I think you'll adjust and feel more comfortable in future visits. Mexicans on the whole are wonderful people, and TJ is full of them. There are unsafe areas, but that's true of any city anywhere. Next time. you should stay overnight and just let things happen at a relaxed pace... Cascadas is really the only hotel in the Zona worth staying in IMO (at least until the renos are done at Rizo), but there are also more upscale hotels a short cab ride and a few bucks away. Also, the meseros all speak English, and can be a big help for those first few visits. Just don't let them lead you down the garden path and happy hunting. :-)

When you check in to Cascadas they give you a wristband. Just wear it and show it at the door.

My advice would be check it the HK website and get in touch with them; they're pretty good at responding. Doubt they'd do this for just a couple of guys unless you're spending some major dinero. The hotel and club are not connected -- most of us party in the club and then take someone upstairs afterwards. Hope that helps.

@ersatzemale: In my experience, Chicago is basically dead until late afternoon/early evening during the week.

They're all luck of the draw at times... given that they're all located a few steps of each other you can just move around. :-)

Good review, and I'd love to know the secret of finding BGs who are ready to make a trip up to Cascadas. I've always struck out in this place. @TFP: Pretty sure it's the same as Chavelas, $4 for two beers.

The review rings true except for one thing - there is nothing upscale about this place. Extras abound to the point where you really should run a flashlight over the couch you're taken to before sitting down... if you used a blacklight then you probably wouldn't want to sit down. :-)

@623: I found out early on in my visits there that it's easy to spend more than you anticipated... at this point, I budget $150-200 per $80-100 arriba I'm planning to have with the rest going to my drinks, tips, and fichas while I'm shopping. And I still often have to hit the ATM towards the end of my visit... file it all under YOLO unless you're burning through your rent money or something. :-) TFP said he tipped pretty liberally and some of his arribas were at Chicago so there's likely a lot of incidentals he glossed over. The important thing when you're down there with that much money is managing it discreetly. For example, now that they take plastic for the rooms (deposit is still $50 cash), so you can pay for that with a disposable prepaid card instead of cash if you don't mind getting your ID photocopied.

Nice review as always... thanks for the info. I've thought about getting a room at Rizo off and on over the years -- what kind of room did you get? I'm guessing that they'e more like the Cascadas rooms from before the refurb, clean but pretty worn down.

Does anyone know if they're going to put the curtains back in the 30 min booths at Chicago? I have some good memories of playing doctor in those... :-)

Not sure what the attraction is for the booths at HK... if you know you're going to go through a bucket of beers with your lady then maybe, but it still works out to more money than getting a room. It's a valid option for Chicago because the rooms are kinda grungy there but Cascadas is not that bad and on a Sunday they go for $60.

Based on your previous reviews, you don't seem to have this figured out yet... next time, try taking the girl upstairs. You'll pay 20 for the room, and for an HJ you'll likely pay 40-60. Since the girl is getting most of that (as opposed to her cut of the VIP charge), she will very likely be a lot more permissive.

@tahoecruz: I wouldn't want to live in TJ... happily, within Mexico airfares are muy barato and there are a lot of other places close to an airport that are far more attractive to me. At this point, first choice would be CDMX. Now that they've changed the sex worker laws there, it may soon come to rival TJ in that respect... @christobal: I have never seen fewer than about a dozen dancers in HK, and that's at 10-ish in the morning when the meseros are cleaning up from the night before. @slu323: It's always a good idea to let the dancer play some tunes if you're not up on current music. OTOH, if you're a music addict like me, you can make a good impression with a well planned set of playlists. I get regular compliments from the girls on my music choices. Soy un bohemio loco... :-)

I simply do not have any fantasies that involve paying good money for mediocre sex. I'll take the 6 almost every time if I know in advance that the 10 will be a cold fish. And if that's the case, she's not really a 10 for me. Maybe if I had wads of cash I'd reconsider, but then I'd be able to afford a high end escort and take a pass on the VIP.

Well done. :-) Next step up the ladder is going for an overnight or longer... at this point, I find myself planning for 2 and 3 day trips and mixing in travel to other parts of Mexico because it's an awesome country (TIJ airport has flights to/from a lot of places). My current countdown is 7 weeks for my next visit. You need to check out the rest of the ZN next time (and some of the city if you can) without a hort deadline nagging at you. Makes a big difference in the experience IMHO.

Why get a jacuzzi room when you can get a master for $10 more? The newer rooms are fairly nice and also have a jacuzzi... :-) I say definitely get a room because of the reasons above, and get extra sheets & towels when you check in. If you don't end up using them, you're only out a couple of bucks. If you run out while your girl is on the clock, you sometimes need to wait a while before you can get some. Get your own condoms, lube and body wash stateside and bring them with you. I've read about some guys bringing wads of small bills with them, and don't get why. I take mainly 50s and 100s and fewer small bills, and if you get a drink at the bars in HK to get them changed the bartenders will not bat an eye. I have done the drive from LA a couple of times and it's no biggie... if you put any belongings in your trunk before getting to the parking, it's unlikely your rental will get molested. I recommend the lot by PedWest and the outlet mall as traffic around it is better and I believe the CBP folks park there as well. It's a bit more expensive but worth it IMO. Happy hunting!

Review was legit. There can be 40-50 *women* at LC in my experience, but that includes civilians and girls who do not do arriba (like some at BT). There are women who I'd rate an 8 or 9 there, just not as many or as often as the other clubs.

@Cristobal: When it was me, I totally hit the ATM. :-) Raises an interesting question -- what are the best ATMs on that block? I'd assume that the Scotiabank machine would be the best, because that's an actual bank, but it was out of order the last time I was there. Next after that would be the ones in HK and the lobbies of Cascadas, which I have actually used under the assumption that they have no reason to work any mischief beyond a hefty service charge (and so far that's been true). And the service charge was something like 50 pesos, so no different than most other machines anyway. If/when the BGs start carrying around Square units for their phones, I will rethink this. ;-)

Lol, minnow, good point. I ended up rejecting it because it didn't give me the info I want to know as a prospective customer. At the same time, it's a valid impression of the club. The context is different, so I guess I think they need to be handled differently.
