Per md...88's recent thread, and comments in the past, there are those that do not like the term "PL" - what less "negative", I suppose, term/acronym/abbreviation, would be a good replacement?

I rarely use PL so I have no suggestions. I like to use the word customer rather than he or she.

P for Pathetic would be fine. The L in loser just puts it over the top.

"UP" - "Undercover Perv" - since most custies don't/can't share their hobby- but I guess this also sounds negative

Guys that pay for escorts a lot are typically called Hobbyists and they likely do it for the same reasons we go to strip clubs. Hobbyist would be the term I'd call myself.

Liwet, I actually prefer the other term escort guys call themselves: mongers. Funny term and perfect description -- at least for escort guys. I always cringe a little bit over "hobbyist"... I just can't think of going to strip clubs or getting a rub-and-tug as my "hobby", just a weird psychological thing.

In the escort world, hobbyist was used to differentiate between the guys that were occasional visitors just calling up some random hooker vs. the ones who did research, checked reviews, posted on discussion sites, went to meet and greet parties, etc. To some escorts, it was a term of respect. Hobbyists knew the game, respected the rules, outed and shunned the ripoff artists (who were bad for business), and were good steady customers. To others, it was a term of hatred, referring to guys that couldn't be manipulated, couldn't be upcharged, wouldn't wait around for hours while the girl took her sweet time getting there, etc Monger had the advantage of being shorter and just covered everyone. I was perfectly happy with john. ;-)

John or hobbyist for escorts. I don't mind the tongue-in-cheek self-deprecating use of "PL" in place of "custie", as we use those interchangeably for fellow strip club goers. Mongers is too broad, that should be reserved for the guys who do strip clubs, escorts, backpage, and streetwalkers, LOL. There's already too many snowflakes on this board. If you really can't handle being called a "PL", you need to begin posting strictly on stripperweb until they toughen you up or run you out of the SC game.

I don’t mind PL and it’s meaning. I really see no reason to change it. Sorry to sound insensitive, but we are what we are. I’m fine with ATM, Monger, Hobbyist, etc. as they are each accurate in specific situations.

I generally prefer customer or patron, but don't really object to PL. I mostly only prefer avoiding PL so I have something to use for cases where its even more applicable. Examples include the guy who LDK's in the first song the stage show or gives a stripper he met yesterday the ring his grandmother smuggled out of Auschwitz. Maybe we're all PL's in the eyes of the general population, but I feel like we need to be more specific within our dysfunctional little area.

-->"I don't mind the tongue-in-cheek self-deprecating use of "PL" in place of "custie", as we use those interchangeably for fellow strip club goers." Gamma, definitely agree md seems to be tone deaf to how we use "PL". But I don't think tuscl posters use the term "custie" (and therefore don't use custie interchangeably with PL) -- custie is an insulting term vaguely meaning "someone who I rip off, and who is dumb enough to take it", and not surprisingly, is the favorite term for customers at StripperWeb, and only used occasionally one or two guys here who perhaps don't understand the connotation. Very rare I see the term used by customers... are you seeing differently?

I usually go with "custies" but I think lopaw's ATM suggestion sums it up well. I didn't know the PL origin until yesterday so I guess tuscl serves an educational purpose. Yes, I know, that's so pathetic.

We often use abbreviations around here, e.g. "OTC" - thus the new term should be able to be abbreviated into 2 or 3 letters. Justme's "Pussy Lovers" is a good one - but like others I'm fine with Pathetic Loser (I kinda started this thread for fun vs really wanting to change the term).

If you are offended by it then probably you shouldn't be on here. It is catch all term that is more appropriate to some than others depending on how often you visit, how savvy you are, or if you get ripped off while clubbing. I always thought it accurately represented the mainstream society view of the activities discussed on this site, and seemed like an attempt to turn it into a badge of honor. That is unnecessary in my view because the term would also apply to the huge numbers of "normal" guys out there who chase and spend and don't get any.

I've always used PL, SC monger, or customer. Monger for me is ironic, since the connation is one is paying for sex, but I never do. Hence its ironic for me. "Custie" is the feminized version of customer, used on StripperWeb. I'm not sure I 100% agree with @Subraman's take on it but I don't disagree with him either. PL, SC monger, or customer, in that order.

If you have to pay for sex or a type of fantasy of sex, you are pathetic and a loser. It really is this simple whether or not you are a n00b getting played by a ROB or a savvy monger that does OTC for cheap rates from a fave. Both guys are pathetic losers and the term is totally appropriate. If you (we) were a true winner, you would have any hot chick you wanted without any need to pay a stripper. Guys that just get pussy with 8s - 10s based on looks and game are winners regardless of where she. The opposite of this is the pathetic loser that pays to have hot chicks give him a sex fantasy.

... and yet you have famous celebrities, powerful politicians and wealthy businessmen paying for escorts and strippers and "traveling companions" all the damn time. hmmm, care to rethink your position?
  • anonlvone
although i have no way of going back in time to verify this, i'd wager the stripper who originated the term "pathetic loser" wasn't thinking primarily or perhaps not at all of the simple act of paying money for sex. by that definition she'd be damning herself and her kind most of all.
  • anonlvone
when a dancer is being paid $1K per day for OTC companionship, I doubt she thinks of the guy she's with as a "pathetic loser." however, if that same dancer were asked her opinion of a guy who's too cheap to tip, what term do you suppose would readily come to mind?
  • indorula

In some ways the whole concept is moot because no one needs to visit clubs. People are just making choices about how they want to spend their efforts. I think if you measured how much time and money compared to results guys on here spend compared to the average guy, it probably is a favorable ratio. I think many guys on here don't want to chase with little guarantee of a return out there in the dating scene. Maybe I don't get it because the truth is I don't take my clubbing that seriously. I only find time to visit a few times a year on average and I have gone years without visiting. I don't ever pay for play and can count one hand the number of dances I have bought in recent memory. Mainly I just enjoy strip clubs more than ordinary bars as a place to drink. So with that disclaimer I was just basically weighing in that guys on this site are probably not as much losers as they think they are compared they are compared to the general public many of whom end up paying but with a lower success rate. I also agree that anyone that truly gets offended by a discussion board term should not be on here.

Also if the only guys who are winners are guys who get pussy with zero effort or profit from the relationship then you are probably either famous or a pimp lol
  • anonlvone

think i'm in the same category as you, indorula. this really isn't something i take all that seriously. i don't pay for actual sex ITC or OTC, never have, and prolly never will, so there's a lot on this board i can't relate to, for me it's really more about the tease and just dealing with stress, i enjoy the company of beautiful young women, but although I don't look my age at all, I still feel awkward approaching college age women, even though they sometimes approach me. lol so clubs are just a nice way to escape from daily life & stress for awhile, although there have often been months and even years i haven't stepped into a club

One of taglines in this site is something like "consumer reports of strip clubs" and that is the only reason I joined I figured if I am on business travel and want to go to club might as well be informed

@indorula and @anonlvone the point is that every strip clubber is pathetic and losing relatively speaking compared to the winners getting hot pussy with looks and game, and yes the winners are the exclusives like, RIP, Hef. I hear what you both are saying but realize I'm just trivializing the term PL by what I say. It's basically synonymous with "guy that goes to strip clubs", so I'm pretty indifferent about the literal meaning of both the words. It's a moot point to me too. And yeah I did mean that millionaire that either clubs or pays hookers is a loser compared to the average income dude that doesn't but still bangs hotties by looks and game. I'm a PL for sure, but I met and fuck the shit out of my wife and my previous girlfriends the winning way. Furthermore I am a horny fucker that also watches porn and goes to clubs to LDK with strippers as additional ways of getting off besides sex. I also don't relate to a lot of the OTC and extras stuff on this board but I like to hear the perspective of those PLs as sort of a way of contrasting and validating mine. Also personally I have enjoyed coming on this site and finding commonality with some PLs about clubbing like LDKing and massaging. Also of course I use and appreciate the reviews too.
  • indorula

Yes everyone has a different perspective on that term and I am sure others on here. I guess I am just getting bored with this site and clubbing so will be taking a break.

It has been interesting to learn the insider details and terminology of the clubbing scene though. I am sure the founder would agree it is like its own culture.
