Thumbs up/down WTF & WHY

Used to be able to see who was giving the up or down, I’m sure most of the thumbs up posts on the troll posts are the trolls themselves, that was who was doing it when that feature was started and I’d doubt it’s changed since.

You can click it again to remove your thumbs up.

I like em, it's easier to click the thumbs up than post a response that says "I agree with what 25 said"

Also agree that not seeing who did it somewhat decreases the value. But I'm not holding my breath for much usefulness, we still have basically no whitespace.

I assume many could be thumbing up their own comments and in some cases even logging into their alts to do it. One guys alt hadnt posted comments in a year yet was last seen May 2025.. its curious.

And i dont know, if they arent anonymous itll be easier to see if someone is getting troll votes, but if it remains anonymous people may be more comfortable thumbing up someone they normally disagree with

I like the feature, and I'm giving your post a thumbs down. If founder reads this, please add the thumbs-up/thumbs-down feature for reviews, too.

I would also point out that there's a number of `markdown features' implemented on the site now like bold, italics, lists, and headers.

Even blockquotes are working now!

Whitespace kinda works. It looks like there's a half space between paragraphs. It's enough when the end of the first paragraph doesn't happen to coincide with the edge of display, but when it's close it's not enough. There's still a lot of people using the dot trick to get white space, so I don't think I'm alone.

I'm too lazy to learn about markdown, I might use it if the UI had little buttons that stuck the code in there. Although I may remember the blockquote part cause I would use that.
